  1. MID LEVEL MONEY SHOULD BE SPENT! BUT ON SOMEONE WORTHY!

    11 July 2010 - 03:34 PM

Im all for bringin in Shaq, I think he would be an excellent addition to our team. Shaq could provide us with the needed size, respect, rebounding, and shot blocking that we need from our post players. As well as, give us even more credibilty with the refs and give more star power with our already exciting team. I understand Shaqs persepctive of wanting to start due to his legacy and we as an organization should oblige his request. I would go head and explain to shaq that Smoove is not the perfect fit for the 3 position but of respect to him we will try it for the first 25 games. And then after that the coach will make an evaluation on whether him starting is best for the team. If he accepts this offer I would give the midlevel for 2 years with a player option on year 2. I think that Marvin Williams would make the sacrifice for the team.(Even though most on this message board would be critical of him) (Speaking of Marvin name a fifth option starters that averages more than 10 ppg). but definitely offer SHAQ 2YEARS MIDLEVEL WITH PLAYER OPTION ON YEAR 2 AND GARANTEED 1ST 25 GAMES AS STARTER.

BUT IF SHAQ DOESNT TAKE IT, THE FULL MIDLEVEL SHOULD BE SPENT ON SOMEONE WHO IS WORTH IT!! (DEFINITELY NOT BRAD MILLER FOR THE 25 REASONS MENTIONED ON THE SQUAWK TODAY!)

Personally if that full midlevel post player doesnt exist with Shaq off the market it should be spent on a quality 6'8 6'9 guy regardless of postion. There are two players that fit this criteria in my opinion. The first being TRACY MCGRADY, there are several reasons I would bring in Tracy Mcgrady. The first being is that I think we are one of the very few teams in the league that could cover up for Tracy Defensively. Tracy at this stage of his career can only guard 3s because of the knee injuries. We could cover for TMac on D similar to how we covered up for Bib, but Tracy is 3 times a better defender of the 3 spot than Bibby is at the one. Secondly a combination of JJ/TMac has good potential in Drews supposed equal opportunity offense. Lastly Tracy's a star, signing him for the midlevel would be a low risk/high reward at worst we would have a cheaper 6th man to replace crawford if he doesnt pan out to be an allstar again. If TMac wants to start I would give him the first 25 games similar to shaq because Marvin's a guy who wouldn't complain about it and jus wants to win.

TIRED OF TYPING AND WANNA DO A LIL MORE RESEARCH ON THE BEST SECOND GUY LEFT.
  2. Rick's Center averaged 3ppg and 1reb in Orlando..LOL

    10 July 2010 - 12:16 PM

Rick Sund made a statement a few weeks ago stating that one of the reasons we traded the 31st pick was because the center that we were interested in was off the board. Well Mr. Sund your center DANIEL ORTON put up duplicate numbers to those that he averaged at Kentucky which was a minial total of 3 points and one board. It will be interesting to see what guys like Hassan Whiteside, Jerome Jordan, and Solomon Alabi, Dexter Pitman are able to do in their summer league stints. Those 3 players had a far more impressive college body of work than DANIEL ORTON!!!!

WE BLEW IT BIG TIME WHEN WE TRADED THE FIRST PICK IN THE DEEPEST DRAFT IN TEN YEARS.. ALSO IT SHOULD BE NOTED THAT DAMION JAMES WAS IN ABSOLUTE BEAST MODE AVERAGING 18 AND 7 SHOWING HUSTLE AND PLAYING GOOD AND MAXIMIZING HIS SIZE AND VERSALITY. COULD HAVE REALLY USED ANOTHER BIG 3/4 SINCE WE WILL BE FACING LEBRON JAMES 6 TIMES A YEAR!!! JORDAN CRAWFORD MIGHT NOT EVEN BE BETTER THAN HIS BROTHER JOE!!!

    OUR GM SUCKS!!!!
  3. Take your time Rick be Smart Pleeze!

    01 July 2010 - 10:07 PM

If we are truly making a run for the title I think it would be a horrible mistake to trade Marvin Williams. He is the only guy on our team that can matchup physically with Lebron James( I would have kept Damion James for that purpose as well) Williams is 6'9, he can board, good passer, strong defender that can guard multiple positions, attributes like defending and being a good ballmover dont show up on the stat sheet but are very important. Alot of people don't realize the sacrifices that this guy made last year as far as not complaining for shots.Must guys 23 would've But I comend the young man for taking a back seat and sacrifice when the decision was made that AL and Jamal would have bigger roles in the offense. When we let him walk we will see that we had a 20/7rpg foward. This guy MARVIN WILLIAMS in my IMO maximized what u can do as a FIFTH OPTION. 10 POINTS 5 BOARDS...

If This trade were to occur Monta Ellis or Anthony Randolf would have to be include. Im not saying that we need Monta but I view that trade as equal value. We should want no part of Biedrens who is a horrible freethrow shooter, slight in build and would do little to help us against Dwight Howard. Anthony Randolf is a nice talent but he is a tweener defensively and is unable to guard the 3 or the 4 and has no range on his jumpshot. G-State won't give up Curry, Morrow would only be a dublication in what we have in Jordan Crawford. So please Rick no trade with Golden State!!!
  4. The More I Think About it the Spirit Group is making Smart moves!

    30 June 2010 - 07:17 PM

The more I think about the Joe Johnson situation the more I feel that it is a very shrewed business move to resign this guy even if for the max. The reason is because honestly I don't think that he will play the life of this contract out in a Hawks uniform. Joe's going to come back next season and put up allstar numbers which will keep his trade value high and when he fell to produce in the playoffs(Which in all likelihood will happen). We can ship his sorry *ss to the western conference for an expiring contract. Resigning Joe gives us the opportunity to see what type of production he could give us in an offense that is not isolation based with a new coach. It would also keep the powers balanced in our division which is a very tough one already and would be even tougher when you take into account facing this guy 6 times a year with wade and bosh or 4 times a year with Bron, Rose, and Noah. So definitely resign him! SO THEREFORE GIVE EM THE MAX HE WILL NEVER FINISH THE CONTRACT IN A HAWKS UNIFORM!!LOL

If somehow we could get Nick Young out of the Wizards I would be for dumping Chillz as well. Nick is CHEAP, a big time scorer has a great stroke can create off the dribble and would allow us let Jamal Crawford walk and also buy out the last year of the bibby deal based on the development of him and Jordan Crawford.

Lastly, I think that the Spirit group is going to shock people when they offer Shaquille O'neal the midlevel for 2 seasons. Shaq is still a big time draw can guard Dwight and might be the missing piece to a championship puzzle. Offering the mid level exemption would not hurt against the cap and is a very feasible move. It would also allow us to deminish Al Horford's value by placing him on the bench which would save us a few million bucks when we negociate(sp.?) his new deal. But if Shaq goes to Dallas we will definitely get Damp because he wants to be close to Mississippi and it jus 6 hrs east instead of west. WE WILL BE ALRIGHT NEXT SEASON GUYS!!!!
  5. Rick Sund is blowing smoke!

    19 June 2010 - 01:38 AM

I think that Rick Sund is sending smoke signals to the rest of the league. The most glaring weakness of the hawks is the center positon. We clearly need to get bigger at this position. However the only center that we will work out is Solomon Alabi. I think that doing this is for projection purposes. Everyone projects that Alabi will fall in the range where the hawks are drafting. Sund wants to take a look at the guy to see if he is a stiff in the case the guy he really is targeting is off the board. At this stage in the draft everyone knows that the Cousins, and Monroes will be long gone at this point but I think that the guy the Hawksare targeting is JEROME JORDAN. Personally, I was blown away by the interview that he has on draftexpress.com. This guy is atheletic, can shoot block shots and has improved every year at Tulsa. I garantee that this guy is going in the first round. We would be very naive to let a guy with his skill sets past us by. Jerome Jordan is the sleeper of this draft and will be a better pro than Greg Monroe and Cole Aldrich. If he is available we have to draft this kid unless Damion James is still on the board. U guys are going to be very suprise when Jordan goes in the late teens. This is very concievable for a guy of this size and skill sets. In that workout on draft express JEROME JORDAN looked much better than Jarvis Varnado who is also predicted by some to have a chance to go late first. I WANT JEROME JORDAN THURSDAY OVER COLE ALDRICH, HASSAN WHITESIDE,SEPHERIN, ALABI, LAWAL, AND ALL OF THE SMALL GUARDS LIKE DOMINIQUE JONES...QUALITY VETERAN WING PLAYERS ARE VERY CHEAP THIS DAY IN AGE IN THE LEAGUE. GUYS LIKE MAT BARNES RASHAD MCANTS CAN BE HAD FOR 3 OR 4 MILLION BUCKS. OR LESS...DRAFT A DAM CENTER RICK!!!!
