We all know this current construction of the Hawks aren't getting past the Cavs. However we are a good team that is fun to watch and imploding doesn't make sense either. So let's try this. We deal Teague and Scott ( or Bazemore if he wanted to go an they were willing to pay) and maybe a 2nd for Carmelo Anthony. I would be willing include a future first rounder but only if it had a lot of protection. This deal works because it creates a new future for a couple stagnant franchises. Potentially, if we could get this deal done early, we could still sign Horford and move forward with... Schröder/ 2016 first rounder Korver/ Hardaway/ Patterson Melo/ Thabo Sap/Humphries Horford/ Muscala/ Tavares The Knicks lose a fading star but get a quality pg and a talented wing to pair with their unicorn. I may be showing that I am homer in this trade, but I can't really image the Knicks getting more for Melo. We still get out rebounded by any team with good bigs. We still have no one to guard. Lebron. But we finally have an option when the clock is winding down. And we finally have someone who can end those horrifying scoring droughts, all without mortgaging our future or disassembling our core. Whadduyathink?

If D12 comes to Atlanta with CP3 he gets to have the offense and defense built around him without having to be the face of the franchise. Horford is the link to the old regime, already has a great rapport with the media and will continue to be a guy that the press goes to after tough losses for a quote. CP3 would be the alpha dog that would eventually become the face of the franchise, mainly because his personality won't allow anything different. And Dwight can just be Dwight, a supremely blessed, hard working, durable big that can dominate on both ends of the court with a big Kool-Aid grin on his face. In this scenario, his happy-go-lucky, what-me-worry persona would be valued not asked to change. This is the only scenario that relieves the INTENSE media scrutiny that he will face for the rest of his career. That's the kind of thing that can change a legacy. Think about it. In Houston he's compared with Hakeem and Duncan (Texas) while trying to get past a hungry OKC team, the ultra competitive Grizzlies, a talented Clipper Squad, the up-and-coming Warriorsand even a Nuggets team that is SOOO MUCH FUN to watch. In LA, he's got the ghosts of Mikan, West, Baylor, Wilt, Kareem, Magic, Shaq, and soon to be Kobe looming over him with (literally) championship banner after championship banner. Dallas has the attention hound (and wonderful owner) Marc Cuban, so Dwight's not escaping the media spotlight there. Plus they still have to get through the west every year. New Jersey probably can't get him but their owner is FAR too intense to work well with Dwight if they could. Honestly, the best thing for Dwight would be to come home to the A with Al and CP3 to contend for the Eastern crown with a rapidly aging Miami team, a great Bulls team with a talented but odd star, and a thick gritty Pacers squad (that, mind you wouldn't have a size advantage against our Dwight and Al Hawks team). If he helps get us to through the East once, he becomes a a Hawk legend (especially if he signs first). If we were to win a title, he and CP3 replace Nique' as the greatest Hawks in history (this is more a comment on how we favor recent things over all else...not saying they would actually be better than Pettit or Nique or Marovich or Shelden...jk on Shellhead). The smart move for Dwight is to try to convince Chirs Paul to join him in Atlanta.

No, I'm saying get Ronnie Brewer over Corey Brewer. Ronnie has a chance at guarding LeBron and Carmello because he get play physical with them.

I feel that in the East this team could be competitve (i.e. make playoffs and be a more difficult out than we were this year) if any one player got hurt. If two of the big four (CP3, D12, Al, or Lou) got hurt...yea we'd be screwed...but isn't that the case for just about every team.

That's why if we get a shot at Ronnie Brewer, we gotta take it. Athletic, can rebound a bit, play 2 or 3, can handle a bit, and is prolly the best matchup against LeBron this side of Jimmy Butler.

The head case part lowers Cousin's stock (because 21 year old bigs with HUGE upside are hard to come by...see DeAndre Jordan). But they make out pretty good in this deal. They bring in Josh Smith and Marvin Williams, two forwards who play well together and two guys who would be starters on their current roster. Obviously the big draw is Smith, who is under contract for 2 years. This move would certainly net Sacto a few more wins in the short term, which, considering their difficult situation, isn't too bad. ATL-We get D12 and Hedo (who plays well with Howard) while keeping Horford and Teague. Marvin's recent brilliance gets turned into a franchise changing trade and we sacrifice our future for the present. But oh what a present!!!! Teague, JJ, Horford and D12 work together well with Hedo for a starting five. That team can shoot from anywhere, post up, get to the line, rebound and defend. And our solid bench remains intact. This team even makes sense in terms of health. The only starter that has missed substantial time is Hedo. We have McGrady and Stack to step up in a pinch. And even if they were to be injured, small forward may be the easiest position to fill in the NBA. Also we keep our 2nd rounder for 2012 and 2013 (to fill our roster with cheap talent). Here's the trade. HOU receives Jeff Teague Jamal Crawford Marvin Williams Top 5 Lottery protected 1st rounder in near future ATL receives Aaron Brooks Yao Ming Why would Houston do this? Houston is an old team that is not playing well at all. That's a perfect storm for a fire sale. Yao Ming is not going to be a 30-35 minute a game player that you can build a team around. Those days are long gone. He may become a valuable 20-25 minute guy for 40-50 games a year. He's in the last year of a contract that he is making 17 mil. They aren't going to pay him that much to be a glorified role player. And they have to be considering moving in a new direction. If you trade Yao, you at least get something for him. Aaron Brooks is a very interesting piece. Check this out. Brooks isn't happy, is currently hurt and will probably not be back next season. The Rockets seem to have shown him that they are looking to deal him. He's looking for a big payday and Houston (a struggling old team) doesn't want to give a big deal to a guard that barely is 6 feet tall. Trade him now and you get something back for him. Jeff Teague is young and talented. He has not shown much as a pro but it seems like there is an NBA guard inside of him. Would this trade go through, Houston could give Teague 20-25 minutes a game as a backup to Kyle Lowry. Marvin Williams is a solid but unspectacular player who is locked up for a while. He's not going to get drastically worse. Probably not going to get much better. They also would receive Crawford (to make the trade work). Chances are they wouldn't resign Craw as he is like a Kevin Martin with better handles and worse shot selection. Finally, they would get a 1st round pick to help the restock their team with talent for the future. This team needs to realize they aren't going to make any significant runs in the playoffs with their current roster. Allowing for the proposed trade the Rockets could go into the off-season with 26 mil decrease in payroll, putting them under the cap and able to make a run at Carmelo, Tayshaun Prince, Zach Randolph, Shannon Brown, and/ or Tony Parker. Why would we do this? Aaron Brooks is a quick pg who can shoot off the catch and off the dribble. He can get to the basket whenever we wants and is a creative finisher. He is also a game closer. He's an above average passer whose assist numbers look worse because he plays in a motion offense where the pg isn't allowed to dominate the ball like Nash in PHX, Williams in UTA, or Paul in NO.Given that we would replace Jamal with Jordan and wouldn't have Marvin to pay, I would be willing to pay Brooks a good 4 or 5 year deal averaging 9 a season or so (no worse than Marvin's deal). In the short term we get Yao Ming, our first true center since Dekembe Moutombo. Imagine this line-up for the rest pf the season. Brooks/Bibby Joe/Jordan Crawford Smoove/Mo/Sy Horford/Powell/Thomas Ming/Pachulia/ Collins Horford has been a beast this season. His improved midrange game is a delightful surprise. He'd get better looks with Brooks able to penetrate and dish at will. He'd face smaller defenders and be able to push them around a bit more because he'd log a few more minutes at PF. Brooks long range shooting allows for us to not miss Marvin at all. Ming's midrange shooting (with Al's improvements there) allow for good spacing on the floor. Yao is not a great passer out of the double team but he is quite an outlet guy. Imagine a fast break led by a quick, aggressive brooks with Josh and Al on the wings and Joe trailing for the transition three. Pachulia would obviously get a few more minutes a game than now and would need to start WHEN Ming had to take a few games off. But I think this team would have a much better shot against Orlando and Boston. So what do you guys think? Is this realistic? How would we fare if we made it? As far fetched as it may seem it can't be any worse than the Gasol deal...or the Bibby deal...or even the Crawford deal.

If we could turn JChillz' contract into a pick that got us Stephen Curry...that'd be awesome...our future replacement for Bibby.

I'd use him as a sign and trade to get a an athletic Big with high potential, (like a JaVale McGee, Andray Blatche, DeAndre Jordan, Hilton Armstrong, Johan Petro or Mohammed Sane), an athletice combo guard or wing who can bring energy (like Shannon Brown or Gerald Greene), or just a late 1st or early second. Anything we can get for him would be better than nothing.
