  1. Yes, Hots can get stretched out and be extremely negative at times, but he's not totally off base with any of his concerns. And I do agree that Al's offense is a bit soft. His entire repertoire relies on hitting 18-20 ft jumpers. He does not bang down low and draw many fouls. Al is quick. If he wanted to, it seems that this quickness could be used to get contact and be more of a factor from the free throw line. Everyone has off shooting nights, so that's no sin. We are better than this Memphis team. Even with a horrendous rebounding and shooting night, they had to have Conley make some big shots in crunch time and the Hawks missed.
  2. The fouls that hated were: 1. calling Pero on that hold that took away DMC's 3 pointer. Totally bogus call. 2. when Thompson drove in for a layup, Milsap went straight up and Thompson initiated ALL of the contact, even with his elbow going into Milsap's throat. Three point play opportunity. Those calls could have been the difference in close game.
  3. Like I said, if he continues to stink it up offensively, the spacing will disappear as they will sag and beg him to shoot. I want him to be good. But even though I love the Hawks I'm not blinded by that to the point that I can't recognize his ineffectiveness. Kind of reminds me of Zaza with less ability. A likeable guy...and our guy......but someone who needs to be upgraded to get to where we want to go.
  4. Say what you want. Pero has played like crap for a while. If he doesn't pick it up, his 'value to Bud' will be on he bench. He's not that effective defensively or as a rebounder to stink it up on offense and still get playing time. Let's be excited about how the team is playing, but if you want to win a championship, Pero is an area that could be upgraded.
  5. Come on, now. Yes, the team should keep it chill and focus one game at a time. As for us fans, it's okay to get carried away :)
  6. I'm glad some of you guys are still up for trading Smoove. A couple months is all it took for some to forget how frustrating of a player he is. Few winning teams depend on a player who is so often a head scratcher.
  7. I think Scrubluv is a scrub...lolOr maybe I should say the 'gimmick' username and videos seem hokey.
  8. Not to derail your point, but why was the Braves winning the WS in a shortened '95 season odd? They had been to the WS in '91, '92, and had the best regular season record, winning 104 games in '93, strike in '94. With that pitching and all stars littered throughout their lineup, it was expected that they should win a WS during that stretch. They were a powerhouse.
  9. Escape goat? Wow.
  10. Well, if they are losing DH then they want to maximize the valuable assets that they get in return. That might be draft picks, or it might be young, talented, controllable players. It's pretty easy to see that Atlanta, if they offer that package, would be offering them quality assets and not junk. Would that put them at a championship level? Of course not! But it would be a good foundation. And Horford is much more of a sure thing than any draft pick.
  11. If D12 is traded, I sure hope it isn't involving Houston. If he doesn't end up in ATL, I was really hoping that the Hawks would entertain trading Josh to Houston for Royce White and company.
  12. I know that we are desperate for a star to lead this franchise and energize this fanbase, but I just don't think that D12 or Josh are the answers to winning anything of any consequence. I would still trade Josh. Get a defensive big in here. Our star/scorer that needs to be brought in should be from the SM or SG position, in my opinion. And we need an upgrade at PG. Not a star, but someone who can create and defend and who has a high BBIQ.
  13. Call me crazy, but a big issue that I still have is Josh Smith. I really just don't want him on this team. I know he has tools and brings a lot of production. But it has been well chronicled about his "intangibles". I just don't think he 's a winner. Too much immaturity and lack of discipline to build around him. You can't count on Josh to do the right thing.
  14. Right, and as I looked at his poll I couldn't help but think "Team Edward" or "Team Jacob". So silly.
  15. If this "Joker" actually had a clue, was reasonable, credible, and judgment worth considering....we would know it by now. This new identity only speaks to his self absorbed, over indulgent opinion of himself and what he brings to the table. The Joker is clearly a joke. A balanced person with insight and a healthy perspective without all of this egocentric blather would not behave or represent himself in this way.Just be a guy who likes to talk basketball. All of this nonsense that you spout just makes you look like a 'tard who can't be taken seriously.
  16. Brochacho, it's not apples to oranges when the thing I was actually calling into question here was your judgment. I guess I just never really got past you misrepresenting yourself as some sort of 'scout' several years back. Since then, every post I read seems to support my feeling that you have a vastly over-inflated opinion of what you actually know.
  17. Man 'Supe, you are married to this 'no Gasol' like you were married to the Brendan Wright over Horford draft in '07. LMAO
  18. I think the Hawks played hard and I commend Josh for staying on the block for the most part. I only remember once thinking, "this idiot" when our big lead had dwindled to 3 points, and Josh (who hadn't shot the ball in a few possessions) hoists a long 2 with 15 seconds on the shot clock, completely out of flow. I was like, is there a worse shot to take when the other team has seized momentum and you're looking for something productive to turn the tide. Josh is often oblivious to these situations and that's why is BBIQ is called into question so much. But he just has such confindence in himself that he likely believes that those shots are going to fall. Anyway, I too kind of felt that the Hawks won tonight because the Magic were just off from the outside. Their starters were 4-25 from outside the arc and many of them were open shots. We were fortunate, but I'll take it!!
  19. Our offense is definitely frustrating and often causes me to ask myself, " are we this poorly coached, because it looks like we have no clue how to run a play properly". Seems like our guards will attempt to run a play, have an opportunity to get something going towards the basket and then give up on it and pitch it back outside to a nonshooter with 8 seconds on the clock. We set weak screens and the guards use them to little effect, gaining no advantage in terms of scoring the basketball. I watch Steve Nash use a pick n roll and wonder how hard it can be to teach a guard to use angles and space to their advantage. Now Nash has vision, passing precision, and judgement...so that helps a ton. And he also has the threat of hitting the outside shot. But being quick, decisive, and using the angles and space are some things that I expect the Hawks guards to be able to do. We just rarely gain any advantage because our plays are so poorly executed.
  20. Curious why she changed her name from jsmoovefan. It's cool to be a fan of a particular player but not to the point where you lose complete objectivity.
  21. The thing about Josh is he comes across as selfish. Sure he wants to develop his game and be considered an elite player. That is obvious. But when that is done outside of the context of what is best for your team, then people will notice and criticize him for it. I think he is at his best when he is concentrating on rebounding and facilitating (halfcourt, not transition). People question his BBIQ based on his ill-timed jumpshots. When the team has missed 8 shots in row...or the other team is seizing momentum and the Hawks need someone to stem the tide...that is when Josh seems to be at his worst. That's when he seems to think that a 25 foot catapult shot is called for. Smart players lean on their strengths and take advantage of that aspect. He needs to be traded because he has the best value and he is not really a leader or a winner, by my personal definition. If he were a leader or a winner, it would be harder to part with him. But a savvy GM could really do the Hawks some good as a team by unloading Josh.
  22. nbasuperstar.....all I got to say about your assessment of talent is Brandon Wright! Maybe we should have taken him over Horford....you think?!!!
  23. The crazy thing about Smoove is his discretion. He loses his head at inopportune times. We all remember times when a 4th quarter went haywire, a couple of turnovers here and there the Hawks needed someone to grab hold and get them back on track. But what do we see, Smoove deciding to jack up a 20 footer at the worst possible moment. Too often he feeds in to the frenzy instead of stablizing the offense with a drive and at least getting to the line. Now that I mention it, that's one thing we' ve missed in our offense in the 4th quarter. A player to draw fouls and keep adding points even if the defense clamps down. That's one of my major issues with Joe.
  24. lol...jsmoovefan sounds like a teenager with no idea how people get hired in todays world. Kudos to you GSUTEKE for not having fun at his expense. The second interview is part of the process. Its not that they didn't get the job the first time around. Lots of jobs will have a second round of interviews for top choices. It's not like the job is at McD's where one five minute interview will do. With so much at stake, it's quite the norm.
  25. LOL.....try again. Mike Brown and Woody were both undressed on national TV and anyone with an ounce of basketball understanding saw clearly how lacking they were.
