The real reason this trade will never happen...MONEY! Kaman has 0 marketing ability. I know you're thinking in terms of winning, but the ownership also thinks in terms of additional sales. This team will have national games next year, because of their play this year. No playoffs and no more than 5 games...Playoffs and somewhere between 10 and 20 depending upon how far they go and how they compete. After people are reminded of Josh's abilities, his marketability will go up which means more money for the ASG. Kaman on national tv gets you nothing. Now of course winning gets you more national tv, but look at Detroit...for other reasons as well you keep Rasheed and not Ben, due to marketability. Other than the hair, Ben has no marketing ability. Rasheed has a much more marketable personality than Ben. No one else on that team has any personality. Joe and Josh are the most marketable players we have, so they won't be going anywhere. Al will join them in that cat next year.

I saw him at the Strip @ Atlantic Station on Saturday night around 11pm and he was looking distressed with deep thoughts (that's why I didn't say much more than hello). If I had to guess he seemed bother by the fact that he's not playing. This could go both ways...he could become depressed and crap out or pissed and become a beast. I find it interesting that some on this board will complain about Horford, but a few years ago people were screaming for us to go after Ben Wallace. As a rookie Horford was better than Wallace during the same time frame and he's better than Wallace today. The difference was/is the team surrounding Wallace (Det/Chi). Other than DHoward, I'm thrilled with Horford performance and his future.

According to the announcers on 790...Solo got playing time because Woody thought he would be a better match-up than Shelden against TThomas and Joe Smith. I can understand since those guy have lenth and jumping ability and Shelden doesn't. Shelden needs to learn how to play like Ben Wallace and Udionis (sp)in order to be a factor in the NBA.

I was at the game and I don't think he was sending a message, but doing good coaching. I believe he realized that Shell, ZaZa and Lo couldn't handle the athleticism(sp) of NJ. It wasn't on TV by Jefferson (I think) made Shell his "B" on one dunk, but our bigs just couldn't run and jump with them except for Smith, MWilliams, Chill and Horford(but he got in foul trouble). We lost this game due to JJ having a bad night and when we needed shooter after MWilliams fouled out none were available (Salim was wareing a suit). In the last 2 min we almost pulled it out.

Running a gym during this time of the year I haven't been paying much attention to the boards, but... Demarr Johnson was picked up by the Spurs recently and was averging 15.8pts for their DL team. I don't understand why so many would want to mess with the starting 6 or 7 man rotation for Gasol. For clarification I was pissed when Knight "slick willied" him from Atlanta. That was then, this is now. I would only do a trade of: Speedy, Shelden and Lo for Gasol Gasol wouldn't automatically start for Atlanta. AJ/Law/Lue JJ/West Marvin/Chill Smoove/Gasol/Solo Horford/ZaZa That's only 12 (truthfully that's a good 11 man rotation), so I would check the NBADL and waivers for support roles at SG and PF/C for when someone gets hurt.

Good and very valid response, but the issue comes...when a company has set itself up as a "what have you done for me lately" an atmosphere is created where employees tend to worry about themselves when a new contract comes up. This is an all pro sports problem.

SO! Some of you guys have been in this world longer than I, but someone working harder when there is a reward on the line is not unheard of nor is it something you shouldn't do. I've ran enough sales dept. and done enough management training to know that if you don't inspire your most talented with the prospect of financial reward you don't get the results you crave. I know, this year great, next year so-so. SO! You deal with that as it comes up...right now you can only deal with what's in front of you. Smith should be playing for a contract, because that's exactly what the situation is for him. I worked like crazy to open my gym in Alpharetta with the promise that if I do well then other investors will give me the money to open a 78,000sf facility in Lithonia and if that goes well I get 16 more gyms. Am I wrong to work harder for the opportunity to become very wealthy? To end I say what would you do? It's business!
