  1. I would hate to see Stack land in our division with say Miami and with Flip possibly signing with Charlotte; have these guys be difference makers and haunt us in our own division . . .
  2. Sorry I did not clean out the quote. You can tell I have not posted in a long time
  3. Hopefully he may be open to a second round of questions for those who found out a little late or does he have a blog we can access ? ?
  4. I heard from one of the Hawk's strength and conditioning coaches that Josh was also working on his inside footwork with "surprisingly" John Lucas - former NBA guard and college tennis star (Maryland) in Houston.
  5. I have personally given Horford the site location and I think he was curious enough to check it out. I gave it to him before this season.
  6. "STAR"vin Marvin has a ring to it. If he maintains this consistency a couple more months, you may want to copyright that.
  7. Quote: I think he's afraid of hurting himself... Where's John Smoltz's Hypnotis?? Last season there were a couple of games where he was being "seriously" undercut on dunks maybe by direction from the opposing coach or his defender not wanting to be posterized.
  8. Quote: Quote: I figured that when I saw the picture. What's up Frat? Fall 2K6 here!! Norfolk State University #2 of 2 Sup MAB! Spring 2k1 Alpha Beta Tau Kenessaw State I won't hold it against you two. I am a Que !! That is OMEGA PSI PHI. I was panhellenic president at Virginia State. We're talking old school.
  9. Quote: Please Josh Smith, use common sense on offense!!! low bb i.q. !!
  10. Quote: "I know it sounds pretty simple but we just have to play better," Smith said. "We have to play together and stop trying to save the world on every possession and just buckle down and focus. That goes especially for me, but everybody else as well. We've got to dig out of this thing together." Please don't stone me for this, but he does not have a good basketball I.Q.
  11. You mean Williams and not the trumpet player right.
  12. Quote: Quote: Damn that was super quick. I never knew he had moves like that!! If he could have dunked it it would have been awesome. He should not try to outdo Joe but he cannot passively concede the role of 2nd option to Smoove. When Joe is in trouble he needs to have the confidence that Marvin is gonna show (not just sometimes but regularly) and be ready to attack. He is not going to outdo Joe but he needs to come get the ball or put himself in a better passing lane "more often".
  13. Quote: As impressed as I am in the improvement in the half court game, there is one major disappointment. I do not see play operating through the middle, the pivot. To me, an inside-the-defense pivot point to an offense is a necessary ingrediant. I wonder what Hakeem told him? Oh, two other things to tell JS. A hook shot needs to be trusted not aimed. I love that JS uses one, but he has to use the lean of his body and foot direction to control the trajectory and direction of the shot, letting his arm flow like a sling shot. Currently, when he gets on angles he is not familiar with, he interrupts the hook, and then tries to guide with his hands. Destroys the mechanical beauty of the sweep that is the hook shot.
  14. Quote: I was there. I have noticed that a weekday crowd is never as good as a weekend crowd. I have been to both home games and By far the Dallas game was louder. Atlanta is still a pretty crowd it takes a lot to get them started. I did love that crowd at the dallas game. I will be at the games next Wed and Sun I will test this theary again. I was there and would agree with that theory. Traffic is getting horrible and the kids next to me that took the train said it was bad too. Sellouts will do that and thats why a lot of folks are not getting there until late. I never thought that I would have to get started much earlier to get to my seat at the game like I have to when I am catching a plane at Atlanta Airport. I have a quick way to leave the game but it does not work going to the game. Anybody know of any shortcuts to get the parking below the decks ??
  15. Quote: I don't know if you've been to many games, but most people will show up right before and after half time...it's kind of stupid and a waste of money if you ask me. I got downtown 45 minutes before tipoff and it still took an hour before I could park and get to my seat at the game. Traffic was horrible and the two young fellows next to me took the train and they said it was was really bad and they did not arrive until just before halftime.
  16. I was at the scrimmage last week at Woodward Academy and saw how Law had a ton of ice taped around his wrist and was kept out of the action to save him. Only Lue and Salim guided the divided up teams as point guards. I think we're going to have to have patience. This is a long season.
  17. I think people keep forgeting that Law has a wrist injury that he is working through and that he has a history of wrist problems and is seeing limited minutes. Of course he is needed more now but I think they want to bring him along slowly. With all our current problems we are still competing. We only lost by one to an Eastern favorite team and we beat a Western favorite the other night.
  18. Quote: Well Woody has confidence with Lue, and I say that I do too. Just not this game, where he was bricking. We only lost by one. This was a winnable game. Law will eventually be ready for the grind of this season. He had a crucial slip and turnover and that is when Woody replaced him when Detroit was making their run. Salim is not a good distributor and with AJ and "Speedy Recovery" out, there were no other options tonight at crunch time. I think Law is being brought along slowly with that wrist injury.
  19. Quote: I wish I could have been there!! Take it from our 2 TV announcers Rathbun(sp?) and Steve Smith who are front and center every home and away game and they sing T Lue praises. There are some on this board who are T Lue haters but the guy is an absolute baller as "Swatguy" says. How you can you deny his importance until AC LAW is ready? He is truly "THE CLOSER".
  20. Great job !!! No reason to hit the "panic" button or the "easy" button.
  21. was when the bigs ( Smoove, Horford, Lo Wright, Shelden and Marvin) were separated at one end of the court from the guards at the other basket and practiced taking passes and shooting inside, midrange and further out on all three sides of the basket. I know Marvin is known as having the picture perfect form but Smoove showed a sweeter stroke and it looks like less of an arc on his shots than he had last year. His release point was quicker than Marvin's, who seems to jump and hang in the air and then releases. Hey I know Marvin is hitting the greater percentage in a game but Smoove was acing that drill while the others incl. Marvin were clanging the rim. Lo Wright was the worst in that drill but he did fine in the actual scrimmage.
  22. Quote: Wow, you were 2 rows behind Steve Holman? I was one row behind him. I agree with all you said: I was over to the right behind you and your running partner. I had on a blue windbreaker. I caught the souvenir ball from Lo Wright in the stands. Last year I sat behind the "Swatguy" and I met "Dawgingermany" and "Vdunkndunk" in the lobby. Well I'm on my way to Virginia in the morning. I always enjoy those up close looks. I forgot to mention Zaza did not participate even in the warmups and Acie Law had his wrist iced up. Solo did not see any action. AJ participated in the warmups but I don't remember him getting in the scrimmage. Coach Woodson had his assistants do the bench coaching. "Speedy Recovery" was a no show.
  23. The free scrimmage was held at Woodward Academy. Coach Woodson admitted it would not be too intense since the team got in at 2 am from the Hornets game. His daughter is on the volleyball team there that is going for a state title. The actual scrimmage was in 6 min halves. I had a seat 2 rows behind Steve Holman the Hawks radio announcer. Highlights were Joe Johnson's shot was on. He had 11 points in the first 6 minute half. Was anybody ever worried about him? The scrimmage had Lue running with the first team of Joe, Smoove, Marvin, and Horford against Salim, Mario, Chill, Lo Wright and Shelden. The halftime score was 28-19 and Coach Wodson wanted more defense in the 2nd half and the final score was 36-31. Mario had one of the highlights of the game stealing the ball from Joe and finishing with a nasty dunk. Salim is not a good distributor but we already know that with bad interior and long range passing. Lue played well. Lo Wright even had a decent game while Shelden continues his disappearing act. Josh Smith was favoring his left knee after a late scrimmage foul by Salim. Chill was all over the place with a few highlight dunks but he got stuffed twice within seconds by Josh Smith on a shot and a put back attempt. The scrimmage was short but keeps them sharp for back to back games. Anybody else there? Your feelings...
  24. Quote: tomorrow night. Hawkeye...are you going? I saw you last year with the hawksquawk sign:) Hey this is the first that I've heard of it. "Dawg" thank you for remembering me. I'm on vacation and will plan on being there.
  25. Quote: On a team lacking for outside shooters, there's clearly a spot for Salim here. If opposition keeps throwing zones against us like they are doing in some of these preseason games, we're going to need some efficient outside shooting.
