  1. I won't stay on this subject long but yeah they remind me of what we wanted Cam to be but actually have the mindset/mentals to get there and get there faster.
  2. Clint started the years he has started for a reason. He's bigger, knows the NBA because of his vet experience and low maintenance as far as needing to tell him what positions he needed to be in and etc because of this experience. He has a high motor and at this point is who he is. Onyeka has had the luxury to learn from Clint but also brings his own intangibles to the game and is more versatile. He can guard on the perimeter 1 - 5's, he's expanded his shot (and actually has a shot), he is a lethal offensive rebounder and has a nice touch in the post. He also has a high motor but is and has been expanding his game every summer (which shouldn't change anytime soon). Onyeka Okongwu's willingness to be one of the best shot blockers in the league as well as all of his other game expansions should put him over the top. This is probably the year we notice that OO has surpassed Clint and therefore should start which is why we may be looking to shop Clint because Clint is still good enough to continue to start. Being a student of the game I can see OO surpassing Bam Adebayo although most onlookers will attempt to have my head for that comment (we'll see in 3yrs or less).
  3. Miles Norris played good today in his limited time as well.
  4. So Mo is playing out of position as PG. Head of the snake And everybody develops the same too hungh Finished products at summer league. Not trying to pick on you but for some reason alot of our fans are acting this way. As an example AJ showed us what he can do in the games when they count and because he had a different assignment in summer league (games that don't count) he's trash all of a sudden. Y'all crack me up because they can't win for losing or winning in our case Tyrese had a good summer league outing last yr which is why he's an allstar now and being honest some would have Mo's head if he was picked high as Bufkin All I'm saying is give them some time and let's judge them by the games that count. The last few yrs we've been having some great draft picks. This is probably the 1st yr in awhile that they will actually get some true development. Patience
  5. So nothing about him being 19 has anything to do with it Cause I'm sure we knew everything in life at that age
  6. Although this would be even better. Doubt Toronto wouldn't want any picks but it's probably the fairest when we realistically look at projections. Hunter and Siakam may have a very similar trajectory.
  7. I can respect that. Especially if you have receipts. I mainly only told people he wouldn't be LeBron but a Dominique type player with Trae would be dangerous. On another note I just saw this article and I would say that I wouldn't be opposed to doing this at all. Given the Mavs’ draft-night interest in Atlanta Hawks veteran center Clint Capela, and Atlanta's rumored interest in trading for Toronto Raptors All-Star forward Pascal Siakam, here's an expanded five-team trade that could make sense for all sides involved: Mavs receive: Grant Williams, Clint Capela. Hawks receive: Pascal Siakam. Raptors receive: DeAndre Hunter, Tim Hardaway Jr., two first-round picks (from Hawks) and two second-round picks (from Mavs, rerouted from the original three-team sign-and-trade). Spurs receive: Reggie Bullock, 2030 pick swap (from Mavs). Celtics receive: two second-round picks, trade exception.
  8. If this were to happen then I would be for it. I'd like to come down on those picks since Capela is involved but if that means not losing any of our young players and gaining Siakam that would make more sense. OO would finally be able to start. The Bruno obsessed might get to see their man in more action as a backup which hopefully helps him improve. We have enough worthwhile young players so the picks aren't as prevalent. Starters: PG Trae SG DJ SF Bey PF Siakam C OO Bench: PG Patty Mills SG Bogi SF AJ PF JJ C Bruno or someone Reserves: Kobe, Mo G, Kreiji possibly Tyrese Martin and another big doesn't look that bad at all. 2 ways: Lundy, Norris, Trent Forrest This team would be deep and we could possibly even play Pascal as a backup center when OO is on the bench while shuffling JJ and Bey to whatever forward spots are needed. Yeah I would definitely do this. 9. Exactly ^^^ Plus at 23 (not even in his prime) it's an easier risk to swallow compared to a good not great 29/30yr Siakam. Timelines and player chemistry/relatability in their game as well as overall interaction matters. DJ and Trae have the same bday but we can definitely tell who's more older and mature based on age. Sometimes or many times though it gets conflicting when it comes to relating and understanding each other. Someone like Trae who's been "a villain" could relate better to Zion than him trying to be the man and tell a grown man 30yr Siakam what to do. Those dynamics definitely come into play.
  10. I would let it naturally progress as you should do any developing player. Give him some time in CP and when the space is available for him and his play demands it bring him to the main squad.
  11. I agree. The main thing I'd be betting on is players (especially star players) that don't want to flat out say they don't want to play for a city and/or still want max money usually find weird ways to get out of that city and then everything gets back to normal or they show what they are capable of once they've gotten their wishes. McGrady on the raptors verses McGrady on the Magics and beyond after getting out of Vince shadows was a completely different player. James Harden after being a 6 man on the Thunder then getting traded to Houston. James Harden again being fat in Houston just to get back to normal once traded. Bad examples I know but I'm drawing blanks right now. The point is that it happens. Spotlights on players are now brighter than ever thanks to social media so I'm sure there were plenty occasions that went under the main stream radar but have done similar or odd things to get out of a city. JC is probably our best current example because he knows and even admits he could've gave us more than what occured after all the trade rumors but he wanted to be somewhere he was wanted. All players have their personal reasons for their actions. In Zion's case he knows he can't do what he's done so far here (if he's traded) and still have a career after his contract is up. Especially not a worthwhile one. I think he'd fit great as a number 2 here though being fed by Trae and not having so much pressure and scrutiny on him.
  12. Funny how easily a season or so can change a narrative but I get it. I would say no to either depending on how much we would have to give back. If we did Siakam straight up for Hunter and some picks I would even do it I just wouldn't trade none of our young 6 as mentioned above. I'd trade the picks because we have a lot of young guys already that are going to be very valuable. I guess I can see Siakam working with us then in a staggered rotation meaning only one of Trae or DJ are on the court for the majority of the time we are playing Siakam if we were to get him. Zion already has plenty in his bag to where I'm not as worried about what else he adds to it especially no time soon. He'd be an easier guy to plug and play with Trae and DJ but I do see the difficulties of an easy trade and less New Orleans viewed DeAndre Hunter as their ideal power forward. I guess time will ultimately tell.
  13. I know that Trae has put some pressure on the organization to come back noticeably better next season. So far Siakam has been the main name but honestly and realistically does Siakam put us over the top? Especially at the cost of losing special pieces in our new young core (AJ, JJ, OO, Rooks). For an aging player who doesn't put us over the edge it's not worth it. We stated the players that can Giannis, Jokic and even AD and KAT to an extent but in many cases the best chance to get a game changer is when they ask out for a specific team(s) or when there stock is low. Zion's stock is low but most of it has less to do with his impact on the basketball court. I wouldn't worry about his weight/conditioning if he was here because I believe he would rather be here and would do that part to prove it. My main issue would be if he can't handle the females there he might definitely be in trouble here Other than that I believe coming to a team he would be happy to play for with a star like Young and DJ would be motivating and definitely give us that edge (if he stays on the court and healthy). If we're going to take a risk which Siakam would be based on his age and asking price I'd rather that risk be Zion because of the reward factor. At this point with his stock being so low he could even possibly cost us a little less than Siakam's asking price. Trae/DJ/Zion undeniable contenders Trae/DJ/Siakam ehhh maybe/maybe not Sometimes as fans we are right to value our young stars and I didn't value most of our young players as high as I value our current ones. I have a pretty good eye for talent and I truly believe (AJ/JJ/OO/Kobe/Mo G/Lundy in his role) will be special. I'm only giving up something special if I can get something special and of high value in return. Making any other move would be a big mistake as we often see in hindsight and we are in a position where we are better off staying put before making big mistakes. If Zion ends up being a mistake it won't be for basketball reasons but in the right culture and with the right guidance he can ultimately thrive. Siakam has already had his "right" culture and moving him doesn't necessarily merit the same or better results meaning we've probably already seen the best of him. I trust the front office though so far every move has been calculated and I'm sure this next one will be as well. I'm just hoping we don't make a move that we can't trade off from or bounce back from if it's the wrong move.
  14. https://www.sportstalkatl.com/hawks-impress-in-first-summer-league-win/ Kobe Bufkin continued to play with great confidence. He finished with 17 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds on 6-19 from the field. Bufkin started out 0-of-3 from deep after going 0-of-8 vs the Kings. He then rattled off four makes and finished the game 4-of-10. He made similar mistakes to his 8-turnover Summer League debut, finishing with 4 turnovers last night. However, these mistakes are fixable and shouldn’t be overreacted to at this point in time. It is important to note that Bufkin’s confidence in his shot never wavered, even after logging what was 11-straight misses. It’s obvious the coaching staff and players are doing a good job instilling confidence in the young guys. Bufkin’s first two games of Summer League are oddly comparable to Trae Young‘s first two games. While Trae sat at 9-of-36 overall and 2-of-16 from deep, Bufkin paints a slightly better picture at 10-of-33 overall and 4-of-18 from deep. I draw this comparison only to show that it takes some players time to adjust, not to tell you he’s the next Trae Young. However, I do expect Bufkin to improve his performance over the next few games. I just want to point out these are not my opinions but directly from the article. Just thought it was interesting based on the comment above.
  15. Where are the highlights??? I see basic basketball plays and "actual" basketball players fooling around like jumping around the free throw line to block a three point attempt ... It's the B/C squad vs the B/C squad with a boring package of average plays. People like to say people like Hunter doesn't have that dog in him but I don't think they understand what having that dog really looks like. We got a bunch of dogs. Bruno isn't one of em.
  16. Why are we getting against our own guys AJ, JJ and OO have great chemistry and are a great combo to have on the floor together. If people are still holding hope for Siakam and thinking that's a smart trade as far as chemistry, match (Trae, DJ and someone to take the ball away from them), salary, Hawks DNA (starts with the want to be here), worth the special talent/chemistry that this youthful group has than all I can say is I'm super elated that y'all aren't GM's. I hope none of y'all are Landry at least lol.. Honestly Landry has shown me nothing but competence so far so I know he knows better. For the record JJ might end up being better than them because of his versatility but I'd rather have this convo once we are title winners/dynasty and are so good all we have to argue over is who's best on our team lol.
  17. Out of all the players that actually give us and show us a lot more it's crazy the love people show Bruno here sometimes lol... Maybe I'm still mad we picked Bruno over Bol Bol (personal bias) but to me Bruno does way more barking off the court than he actually has bite on the court. He has talent but I don't know if/when he will ever get the true confidence to dominate with us. Honestly I'm not a Kabenjele guy either but I do think there are some summer league guys out there that could easily take Bruno's place. I hope I'm wrong about Bruno but currently I highly doubt it.
  18. Honestly I do think our players play better when they keep their hair but I won't put too much into his summer league stock. Still though JC started declining the 1st yr he cut his hair, Hunter to some degree. I hope that's not a jinx but you have a point. Still when he's playing with legit ball handlers and threats like Trae and DJ as well as our other main players let's see if he looks like that. AJ, JJ and OO have great chemistry so like anybody who played basketball you're more comfortable playing with players you're more familiar with and as stated above it's easier to play better around better talent. Talent on the squad and opposing talent can lift a level of play.
  19. For some reason Channing Frye always cracks me up. I wouldn't mind seeing him commentating some real games. Greg Anthony I'm not going to go there because some of these commentators do have similar voices. I wouldn't say those two are one of them but... Thank you @JayBirdHawk for always dropping the true stats.
  20. I agree with your top assessments. I'll add Lundy and Martin up there as well although I think Lundy ultimately has the edge for our squad. I will say this now for anyone worried about AJ Nobody on the main squad is doubting what AJ will be for us including the coaches. This is summer league he's playing out of position/role. PLEASE BE EASY This will a blip in most of you all's memories once the real season gets going.
  21. I said last game that Lundy makes Tyrese obsolete because of similar style but Lundy plays more within his role and is a better shooter. Still I like Tyrese's heart and hustle and although I doubt we have room for him but I'm still rooting for him.
  22. Go DJ!!! I meant Kobe!!! That's going to be nasty when their on the court together. A left and right handed version.
  23. We made space for Kabangele to make the squad as the 3rd C but Tyrese Martin and Vit Kreiji are looking like they want those spots a little more. I guess we'll see what happens.
  24. The it's are literally what the off-season is about If players take the time out to work on the flaws in their game they get better. Dribbling, shooting, passing are all easily correctable. Defense may be harder to practice by yourself and intangibles like height, length, motor and things you can't teach but there's even workouts to get a better vert if that's what players so choose to practice. Y'all are hilarious sometimes thinking what you see from a player especially a young player is the last thing you'll ever see Clint is probably the only player on our squad that I see come back every year with no changes but that's clear because he doesn't really train in the off season he vacations. That's cool though when you know your role and are great at what you do. Just don't be surprised when players come back doing something they weren't doing before. It's a natural part of the game.
