The problem is if this were the case, Nate wasn't even the coach when the promise was made. You can't hold Nate's scheme's hostage to LP's promises.
Moreover, no GM would make that promise.
But Nate is here now. Doesn't make it right for Pierce either.
I'm only going by what was indicated in this thread based off Bogi's feelings on the matter. I doubt Schlenk/LP/Nate made the promise, but woe unto them if any of them did as that would provide good reason for Bogi to feel some type of way.

I'll say this, if Bogi truly was promised to start (assuming healthy), then what Nate is doing with he and Huerter is pretty indefensible - especially considering Nate's "can't lose your job to injury" statement. That's just icing on the proverbial crap cake.
That being said, promising to start someone - especially who isn't undeniably elite like Lebron, Curry, Jokic, Trae, Embid etc - is bad business. Too many things can happen (young players can take the next step and overtake others, injuries can sap a player's abilities, etc). And if that is really what was promised to the inarguably non-elite Bogi, then shame on them.

What an awful effort.
No doubt. Those fools were blowing out the Nets much of this game...WTF?
Detroit did beat Boston, though.

Good win, Hawks. Set the bullshiz aside and get to .500. Got the Bulls and Raptors next. Seriously, how do we keep drawing the Raptors when we are 1 game under .500? Ugh. We're 0 for 2 recently when that happens.
Time to buck that trend!

I was asked by my source and in our private conversation to clarify this.
Some of the black players on the team feel that the local Hawks media is the main culprit in this. They believe that Bogi, Gallo and especially Kevin are given free passes for their play because of their skin color. They also think to a lesser extent the fans do this both at the games or on websites like this one.
So this is more directed at the local Hawks media that will get onto Trae or John or Capela or Hunter or Cam when he was here but remain very quiet about Bogi, Gallo and especially Kevin. I said this in another post and I will repeat it again: I don't know why but Kevin really is getting a free pass especially on the Squawk. I do see people complaining about Bogi and sometimes Gallo but Kevin? Rare. And if I'm being honest after Kevin signed that extension he needs to be held to a higher degree. He IS better than what we've seen.
Hopefully some of the reaction to this post will get back to some of the players that think the finger is pointed at them too much and not the white players on the team. Kevin is honestly the Hawk I have the biggest problem with because he's more down than up.
Heurter is probably the player I dislike the most on the team. When he signed that extension, I was like "Meh." He didn't move the needle enough before the extension, and seems to do so even less since then. I have been very vocal about my disdain for his inconsistency on both ends of the court - especially offensively - which has surprised me due to the reputation he had coming in as a good shooter. His defense has always been meh to me. I've wanted him to break out so bad, but it just looks like he's destined to have a ceiling of decent bench player who masquerades as a disappointing starter. He's a massive underachiever to me, and I don't understand why he gets the love he does sometimes.
I don't need to talk about Gallo defense because everyone and his mom knows he's a below average defender - that's not really gonna change at this stage of his career. He was pretty consistent with us last year but has turned in too many Heurter-like disappearing acts this year.
Bogi is super inconsistent on both ends (like Heurter) but is a more capable player when healthy. He hasn't been the same since his injuries during last year's playoff run. Sigh.
Collins has been a much-improved defender this year, and some metrics agree that he's been good to very good. Many, many fans here have acknowledged that. He's not physical, he's no bruiser, and he's no enforcer - so those looking for that in him won't find it. That doesn't mean he's a bad defender, though. He's limited offensively, but he's highly efficient. Overpaid? Yes, but he's a good-not-elite player.
Trae is objectively a bad defender that has moments where he plays competently on that end. And no, being his size doesn't disqualify him from playing at least average defense - just means he has to have the mindset, desire, and actually put forth the effort to do it. We don't need to talk about his offense, everyone knows he's elite there.

Again, this team needs some serious changes in the offseason. Team is soft, inconsistent (Heurter especially, Hunter this year), and they are a bad defensive team. Travis will have to earn that money this offseason.
I'd like to see the draft picks start playing because this team isn't going anywhere this year with the way they are playing.
Again, get to .500 before I buy back into playoff talk. Until then, we're just a disappointing and inconsistent team that can't play good enough defense to make up for its sustained inconsistency.

I'll simply say this...
This is not the kind of effort, nor the result, that a team fighting for their playoff-hopeful lives can afford.
Three games below .500 now with chances getting slimmer by the game.
Travis, you got some work to do this offseason...

I am treating the Hawks the same way I did the Braves this past year:
I will take them seriously once they can get above .500.
I'll enjoy the wins and awesome individual efforts, but we aren't going anywhere until we can get above. 500. Period.

I can easily count 10 games that could have gone either way if we hadn't had tons of people out in COVID protocols or a healthy Deandre/BB or the few we lost early in the season due to the over enforcement of the NBA's focus on players creating their own contact. As easily as we're 24-26 (which is about as bad as it could be for us at this point) a 10 game swing would be 34-16 and tops in the East. The whole season is a cluster but it isn't worth throwing the towel in on either. We are, if healthy, probably the most dangerous team in the East.
The 11 game win streaking Suns - with the best overall record and best road record in the entire NBA - just learned this the hard way tonight.

@NBASupes I really like you and truly enjoy what you bring to the table here, but it's poor taste for you to take this kind of posture and hold fast to such vitriol against fans of the team for opinions you don't agree with. We are entitled to our opinions - whether grounded in truth or not and whether you agree with them or not. So for you to behave like a crusader for Cam Reddish justice isn't fit for an open forum where all viewpoints and discussion are allowed freely - unless they violate universally unacceptable norms and behaviors or Codes of Conduct (we have reporting avenues for that). Since I don't see much, if any, of the latter happening since that fateful day, all you're doing is alienating fans and posters. And for a player who truly played a mere fraction of his time here, despite his unarguable talent, this just isn't worth the juice you're squeezing.
That said, you're exactly right that Cam is no longer on this team, and although I would have really liked to see things work out here (I, too, was hopeful for a SG Cam/SF Hunter eventual starting lineup pre-season), that will no longer happen. And because he is now playing elsewhere, I will reserve my energy for players that do remain members of the Hawks, and for those that could later become Hawks through trades, the draft, or some other form of acquisition.
Suffice to say that I'm disappointed by your original post. And although I don't disagree with some of your thoughts contained therein, I ardently push back at your methodology here. Cam won't be the last talented fan-fave of yours or mine that trades in the ATL across his jersey for another franchise. And when that time comes, I can only hope we won't see posts like that from you or anyone again. That said, keep posting and doing your thing - just keep the histrionics out of it.

Oh wait, are we still doing that?

Man trading Cam and Bogi going out with an injury has really cleared up any confusion with roles and everyone is giving more effort. This team really feels like we can make a major run and get back into top 6 playoff contention.
For sure. I still think our SG position is a hot mess (Heurter with his flaws defensively and with offensive inconsistency; and Bogi with his regression offensively and defensively this year). Other than that, OO has shined like the sun, Trae has been Trae, and Hunter is looking more and more like he did pre-injury last year. Even Delon seems to be getting more trust.

My sources have told me what the key to the Hawks resurgence has been, and little did we know it all dates back to 1996...

I don't think I've ever seen a team throw up this many 3s before half (17) AND MISS ALL OF THEM.
But hey, I'm certainly not complaining!

Man, these Hawks are really showing something these last few games that we haven't seen ALL season.
And how about OO? *Chef's Kiss*
Trae, Hunter and even Danillo "Don't Trade Me Bro" Gallinari put in work.

Is love to see it (both really), but Nate would pull a Consuela from Family Guy real quick if asked to play either.
