  1. Only 4 of those guys have titles. And two of them won them together and were not lottery picks. IJS
  2. So this super star argument is tilted to you guys side no matter what. Let's say the Hawks luck up and get one of the glorious draft picks this year. When is he a superstar? Is it for what he does? The Clippers have Blake Griffin. Is he superstar? What has he done in the playoffs? Was Pierce a superstar? Ray Allen? What about Iverson? He couldn't get the stars to philly. Dwight couldn't get them to the Magic. So really until someone wins what do you call a superstar? Horf has been to the second round more times than Chris Paul. Maybe we have our guy. Horf could be the 2A or 3A on a Championship team couldn't he?
  3. Umm.....did we lose our pick or something? If this is the deepest draft in a decade, we should be able to find a gem at our spot.....right?
  4. Not much to add, you guys are very knowledgeable and have informed those with questions awesomely. Keep up the good work. I will say that the draft has a fog on it still. We could go for the Mack to fill the pass rushing lb need or go OT. I think we take a safety in the 2nd although Rafael Bush is being mentioned for us since the Saints signed Byrd. He has a tender with no pick protections.
  5. Everyone thinks they are a better fighter than they are, it reminds of the singing in the shower thing lol
  6. Carmelo to me is the classic Dominique story. He is individually a transcendent player. Has he ever played with a player who at the time they played together would even be considered top 20? No. Has he ever been on a team that was considered talent wise top 5 in the league? No. Nique always ran into the Larry Bird Celtics, Bucks, Isiah Pistons etc. He could raise his level of play, but the rest of the team could only raise themselves so far. Melo has run into the same situation. If you replace Lebron with Melo they win a title. Maybe not multiple titles, but they win. Put him with OKC instead of Durant and I'm not sure they don't beat the Heat that year. He would've demanded the ball and been less deferring. I want to see Melo on Chicago or in Portland. Send him into a mach up where he has the superior team or at least an equal team to these other guys and lets see what happens.
  7. http://grantland.com/features/the-marc-gasol-all-stars/ Good write up- my takeaways.. [*]Mike Scott is going to have to hit the weights this summer if he wants a bigger role with this team [*]If we could have some how got Sap with Prime JJ instead of Smoove this team might have gotten to the Conference Finwals [*]Korver is the gift that keeps on giving. He is on a falling pay scale and looks to be bargain for at least another 2 years
  8. My idea is to expand the roster. Allow, the 15 man roster, but also add 5 d-league designations. It would work like the NFL practice squad. The D-League players rights can be bought and traded during the season. If a team wants one of your D-leaguers they offer him a contract to move into the 15 man roster after the season. The original team can match the offer or let the player go and designate another player for the D-league. I would steal from baseball and have a supplemental high school draft for players that want to enter the D-league.
  9. I really don't consider this a tank. It is just a bad break on the injury front. If we keep losing I wonder if we will still somehow make the playoffs?
  10. Yeah the wave is standard fare. The NFL would do well to go to a wave considering recent events lol.
  11. http://hawksquawk.net/community/topic/390680-peachtree-hoops-the-star-system-what-it-takes-for-a-prospect-to-become-a-star/ So according to their breakdown the lowest we could pick is 8 to get a star child. I call bologna on this, but here you go. They broke down why several of our top picks weren't stars. Which one is holding Al back? Teague? Who do you see in the league right now that isn't a star that has these four qualities and just might need the culture to blossom?
  12. Bruce was severely misused..and the Falcons were inept. I remember those years.Sent from my LG-MS770 using Tapatalk
  13. I wouldn't trade up, but if he is there at six take him.
  14. No I have to disagree. Before Vick there was Dan Reeves then Arthur Blank for the Falcons. Vick was a by product of the 1998 Super Bowl run and then bad luck with injuries. Dan Reeves made us respectable and place Vick and his people were willing to make a deal with. The Braves had Schurholz and Cox come in and make the savvy trades and player acquisitions that helped us overachieve in 91. Sid Bream and Pendleton. No sir I don't agree with your revisionist history.
  15. I don't get the Monstar thing......somebody make it funny for me.....please
  16. AHF let's just reason that many of these stars have moved to places that they choose. How many bad deals have we seen where it was dictated by the player saying he wouldn't re-up with anyone else? Or even reaching free agency and choosing the destination they feel more at home. Atlanta the city is a destination spot for athletes. And as the Falcons have shown, once you get the culture right players will opt to come here. I guess I being older than many of you have seen the exact scenario y'all say can't happen happen twice in Atlanta. I saw the Braves do it first. How it all changed was the culture changed first. The front office started getting good press. Respected coaches were put in place. The game was played the right way and people were treated the right way. Next thing you know the Falcons and Braves became destination franchises.
  17. CLE 2005-06 50 32 .610 2nd in Central Division 7 6 Lost In Second Round CLE 2006-07 50 32 .610 2nd in Central Division 12 8 Lost In NBA Finals CLE 2007-08 45 37 .549 2nd in Central Division 7 6 Lost in Secnd Round CLE 2008-09 66 16 .805 1st in Central Division 10 4 Lost in Third Round CLE 2009-10 61 21 .744 1st in Central Division 6 5 Lost In Second Round That is a spectacular failure? If he pulled that off here he would go down as the greatest GM we ever had. I'm not belittling you I'm accounting the position that has championed in this thread. Disagree with the man, question his direction, but to imply he is a bumbling executive is just not valid.
  18. So let me get this straight......... [*]A smart guy, duke graduate [*]Former NBA player [*]2nd time GM [*]refined under Pop and the Spurs brain trust [*]got rid of the biggest obstacles to this team being a contender [*]sought and hired by a group who has made nary a peep since giving him the keys to his vision is going along at this half-assed and reacting to every little issue that pops up with no guiding principles or plan of action? But, a bunch of couch gm's have this figured out(I'm sure you all are excellent at your day jobs). Never was good at math, but it doesn't add up to me.
  19. Or maybe Scott continues to flourish. Maybe Lou is back to efficient/foul drawing Lou by then. Who knows......just watch.
  20. That team was capped out. This team is not and has the ability to make moves. If the 2009 team had the money to go out make a real move instead of Jamal Crawford we could have been on to something. But, we weren't.
