Ok so…in short sounds like you agree that even if resseler opens up the wallet this summer it’s not going to be Landry and his staff deciding the best route forward this summer…at least not without the mole being heavily involved , therefore it’ll be Lil Nicky every step of the way dictating how the money is used. if that’s your thoughts I can see that happening too. So yeah as fan my confidence for good outcome this offseason is unfortunately on the low end.

That’s my whole argument though. While we have fans waiting for Resselers to open up the wallet and go into luxury tax penalties, I’m looking at the fact that our front office was literally using nba 2k to come up with trade ideas. I don’t think we have a capable front office either. We have too many newbie’s in the FO in my opinion and that includes korver. I’m not really that high on fields but at the least I do believe he tries. in short I think there are two issues here. Cheap owner & newbie FO.
  3. What trades would you make to make this team more competitive?
  4. Serious question here. our we really in cap hell because of these 3 ? Something just don’t seem right when we are discussing getting better as a whole. Always seems like the hawks can’t keep talent to get better as if it’s abnormal these 3 guys are getting paid the salaries they have. If anything DJ took a pay cut for us. Are we doing anything with DJs humbling negotiation is my question most hawk fans should agree that Trae , DJ, Bogi , or JJ shouldn’t be the talent we trade to get better unless an all star talent is coming back. just don’t understand why there isn’t more talk to trade Hunter, Capela, and pretty much anyone else before those 4 guys. personally for me I have to stop looking at fit and look at availability just as much. Trae whom I would never trade unless forced pairs better with Bogi but I can’t trust that Bogi will stay healthy a full season again. So looking at the Trae/Murray tandem and I will say while not a perfect fit, at least they are not injury prone players normally . regardless I just don’t want to get beat in any of deal.
  5. Well shit I thought they learned this last season when jokic whooped his ass in the finals but I see the lesson has to be learned again vs the Celtics. YEAH….the heat lack size and it shows. Not hard to see. Bam is great and holds his own best he can but he’d be a lot better if he weren’t their only true big man that can play long minutes for the heat. i think the hawks, warriors, heat all need to get with the times and rethink how this league is structured when it comes to centers. too many legitimate skilled 7 footers or very close to 7 foot centers impacting the game today to simply just ignore it.
  6. OO problem is that he lacks size. It’s very clear that OO cannot be a guaranteed starter in this league. Even when he does everything right his size combined with his strength plays against him. We were getting out rebounded and absolutely torched when OO started at center for us this season. Unfortunately OO could not beat out Capela for the starting role for clear reasons. i like OO at the 4 as a backup at this point but he to keep putting the work in on his shooting. Great progress this season however. again I believe Edey moves better than you give him credit for especially for 7’4 guy. Also you have to keep in mind how much ground this guy covers with his length alone!…God didn’t bless him with exceptional athleticism but he did bless him with size and length combined with good IQ and hustle. this is why it all matters because it all works hand in hand. Better perimeter defense is going to be needed no matter what center is starting next season that’s just facts. Edey is not going to just get ran over by every nba player. He has enough size to allow him to defend in space and a crazy ass wingspan to allow him to retreat and protect the rim. There is no perfect center available. I will say Clingan is better defensively for sure and I will take him in a draft but you still have to address the POA defense on the perimeter even if it’s 1 player who’s an upgrade. I like Castle but not high on the other two. I guess I was expecting you to come back with some actual trade targets and I should have made that clear. I don’t see any perimeter draft player capable of helping us immediately personally.
  7. there is no way you truly believe that! …you must be pissed cause I mentioned Edeys name in the post. Defense goes hand to hand with all positions and point of attack defenders are crucial in drop defensive coverage. Ok sir my question wasn’t to get you worked up about Edey . I wanted to know what POA defenders do you have your eyes on ? maybe it’s the wrong thread to ask but mind as well use this one.
  8. I know that Edey is going to be just fine in a drop coverage defensive scheme in the nba. I believe the guys hustle is better than what you give credit but I’m not going to argue and try to make you change your opinion. id be just as happy with drafting Clingan even though I don’t believe he will provide much offensively in the nba or really help us in that area. He’s only slightly better than Capela around the goal. For me if the hawks can draft Clingan or Edey I’m going to be ecstatic. I like Kel Ware also but he reminds me too much of C Wood type which I don’t believe can help us immediately like the other two. But who’s on your wish list of POA defenders and what trades do you see are realistic ? We clearly have two big problems and it’s not the tandem of Trae/Murray…it’s our front court as a whole.
  9. Thank you! Let’s not over do it with a bunch of changes because more than likely we won’t get the fair share of any trade negotiations. we need to move Capela to the bench next season! If Edey is the best center option we are selecting which I believe he will be we draft him. It’s like folks want to ignore that we had bench worthy players playing majority starter minutes this season. The only bench player we have capable of that is Bogi long term. Bey should have not had to start as long as he did. OO is not a center, he’s way too small. Hunter gets hurt too damn much and hopefully JJ isn’t in that same injury category. If you can trade for better players do it but don’t make lateral moves just to make a move is my point and my biggest fear this offseason . Just keep it simple.
  10. Sure but I think there’s way too much blame going towards the tandem of Trae/Murray as if they are the sole problem. one thing for sure you didn’t deny what @Diesel stated here…put Trae/Murray with TWolves front court and it’s a guarantee we will see different winning results. I will go a step further and say replace KAT with Jalen Johnson in that same scenario and we are easily a 50 win ball club. Having Trae as a max player is not the issue. Someone is going to get paid at a star level talent on every franchise regardless of the position and frankly Trae has earned his money. If we had a capable front office and owner that had an actual building plan around Trae we wouldn’t be in the situation we are in but we have incapable staff who keeps changing plans. when we drafted Trae I believe the direction was extremely clear. Put size around Trae with specific skill set and we got away from that plan after the ECF run. There has been no true plan until recently with Synder coming in and stating the obvious “We need more size”….I believe Snyder is seeing a very capable tandem in Trae/Murray if the front court can be upgraded beside them. My biggest fear is trading Murray or Trae and getting back significantly less! I don’t trust this front office to not get played in negotiations for top two star players and personally I believe you can win with Trae with the correct pieces surrounding him so I wouldn’t trade him regardless.
  11. If we were going to make major changes it should’ve been last offseason but we wasted it unfortunately cause of resseler. to be clear I’m not against major changes to make the roster better but for all the reasons @Diesel mentioned in his post I think the odds of it happening is very low. We are once again seen as a joke in the nba for teams to get over on while on the verge of potentially losing Trae the next offseason ….teams are not going to just magically start helping us. They are going to throw low ball offers and ask about Traes availability like crazy over the next year. Smh again taking these guys who are currently starters to lesser roles is keeping the same team to a certain extent but it’s lowering their expectations. Getting a new Center and SF would be better than nothing .
  12. Good post @Diesel…this is why we have to think more realistically about what can happen. Even if our owner is willing to open the wallet up now, odds are against us. Other GMs think they can get over on us. It’s going to be tough to pull a good trade for us in my opinion but they cannot just accept any damn thing. like you said if you can trade Murray for Ingram or Jaylen Brown by all means pull the trigger but I’m having a tough time believing either of those trades can happen. id take Mikel bridges also but I agree, ain’t jumping up and down about it!…hell may even rather just keep Murray if that’s the best we can do. I believe the draft is going to be our best friend this off season. Again like you mentioned our biggest problem/issue is size in the front court! We really need to get Clingan or Edey and keep / hold on to Capela regardless unless Capela can be used in a trade with Murray to net a Ingram + filters or brown + filters I say prepare for role changing with some of the players we already have and a starting lineup change at Center and maybe a highly skilled role player at SF.
  13. But it’s not the same exact starters. Should we be really expecting the FO to change the full starting lineup around Trae?…that’s not happening I’m sure. if anyone is expecting us to look way different across the board there is going to be a ton of mad people in my opinion. I’d keep the expectations low as im only expecting a change at center with a possibility at also SF.
  14. I think this same roster at different roles for key players is valuable. This makes us a deeper roster without much movement on the trade front. Of course if we can trade these players for upgrades do it but in the likely hood we can’t , change their roles. examples: Bey started longer than we wanted , he’s a better bench player of course, that can create a spark. Bey to me is good in spurts and terrible if given too many minutes so you take what you can get with him. Plus he should be cheap this summer with the injury and all. Bogi should be a full time bench player unless Trae or Murray get hurt and he moves to SG briefly. you said yourself that you like off the bench Hunter better than starting Hunter and that he’s a lot better coming off the bench. I can’t disagree so if there’s a chance to put him on the bench cause we get a starter SF from a OO trade we should do it! How about Capela? …we definitely should be drafting a center with our first rd pick regardless of CC. Can you imagine how impactful Capela would be as a backup center for us ?! Now that would be excellent for us and it’s something we wanted OO to do but that ain’t happening. I’d rather be more realistic about what could happen than unrealistic about a bunch of trades to completely redo the roster. Changing roles is fitting in my opinion.
  15. I’m not going to pick. If I had to obviously it’s trade DJ but the hawks need to really review the roster with true detail before considering to trade Trae or DJ….i get most don’t like the pairing but the teams front court is so trash that it lead to making this tandem even worse. I really do believe a better front court would make Trae/murray hell to deal with and a deeper bench would make them hell to deal with. I like the idea of getting Edey paired with Trae/Murray similar to @NBASupes. I’d also take Clingan. im looking at the possible depth this team could have if the draft goes right and we get either Edey or Clingan, we could have a very deep roster keeping the same roster together. If the draft goes right we look deep and have a very good fitting roster in my opinion. Starters: Trae, Murray, Hunter, Jalen, Edey or Clingan Bench Rotation: Trae or Murray will always run point full 48 minutes. Bogi at SG Bey at SF OO at PF Capela at Backup Center so yeah without overthinking it…at least in my opinion, if the draft goes right we have a very good overall team. Hell if anything , that draft goes right then I’m trading OO for a skilled SF and moving Hunter to bench to play SF or PF. Either way I can see the draft predicting what happens between Trae & DJ. ….if nothing at all.

Let’s say the owner changes and is a fully committed to spending whatever it takes to make the hawks better . let’s play hypothetically owners are opening the wallet up. do we have a capable front office that can make good roster moves to build a strong team ??? last I read the front office was trying to make nba 2k trades in real life. I don’t know about you two but I believe we have two problems. Cheap ass owner & a front office of fan boys with no real nba business experience. Another question is this!…what if it’s too late for it to even matter that resseler is willing to pay into the luxury tax?…too late in the process where teams aren’t willing to negotiate with us knowing that we are in a tight place, a sink hole if you will. while I don’t believe we have a great front office, I also believe Ressler shot his own team in the foot by taking too long to commit to spending the necessary funds to get us to the next level. I mean even if we have a great FO, do they really have enough time in 1 offseason to make meaningful moves to retain Trae or rebuild around Trae/Murray?

    Is it naive to

This off season is probably the most historic offseason in the Hawks franchise history in my opinion. if they don’t get it right it can lead to a very miserable future long term. Hardcore hawk fans like myself will watch from afar but will not tune in. we all knew the Trae/murray tandem HAD to work in order to avoid this and while I may be among the few that believes it could still work with the correct adjustments, most think the tread is already worn out with those two together. whatever trades they have brewing they better not get cold feet cause the number 1 priority should be to retain Trae long term by getting him more help! At least in my opinion .
  18. Agreed. We need one of them. obviously if we lucky in the lottery and get as high as #6 we are definitely getting Clingan depending on if the Grizz are behind us…IF we are a late lotto pick , we have a good chance at getting Edey as I believe most teams will past him up.
  19. Man I’m not even trying to be funny here but that decision is easy for Resseler…. Maybe you have an argument from a basketball perspective but money talks and Trae = Ass in seats …then you multiply that by 41 home games …which equates to C.R.E.A.M
  20. Mods! Ban this guy for making sense!…we don’t do that around here guy. this is a phase 3 post…we still in phase 1 of meltdown mode where we say off the wall shit that’s combined with outrageous thoughts and finger pointing.
  21. lol you’re entertaining that garbage?… come on @terrell
  22. Ignore it. Hawks will not let Trae was away easily .
