  1. I think is really concerning AJ 2 games. He is supposed to dominate on SL and he is playing poorly. He cannot put the ball on the dolor, cannot go inside, cannot shoot, looks desinterested... Different guy to what we saw last year. I am concerned because he dissapeared when Quinn arrived and I am beginning to panic. Clearly he is not well on this system but he is the Guy with highest celiling on the team. Quinn needs to look for a way to make hin a contributor.

  2. I don’t think Bey is a PF, I don’t think he can match big PF, he is undersized. Same for Griffin playing SF, he is a SG. They are fine playing SG and SF but moving them to SF and PF is a bad idea on an already undersized team.

I think they want Gueye to play on the perimeter to develop him as stretch 4, he is not SF.

  3. KAT has been a ok defender at C untill Gobert arrived. I think with OO he Will be ok at defense.

I believe what has been said on this forum about the KAT trade but I think is going to be extremely difficult to get It done. I think KAT would be a fantastic addition to the team but if we need a third team most likely is not going to be done.

What worries me a lot is if we don't make a trade to add a 3rd star that seems to be our main priority we really have a problem with the roster as is today and I see no options to solve It. There are no players available on FA, we have no starting PF and our C rotation is a mess as we don't have size and shooting on the Frontcourt. No way we can pass 1st rd with this team, we are going to be bullied inside.

  4. I think JJ is also part of the core but I might be wrong.

The issue is that you have 5 established players for PG, SG and SF in Young, DJM, Bogi, Hunter and Bey.

But for PF and C we have justo Capela and OO and they are completely redundante.

  5. Currently we have as young players

Tyty, Bufkin, AJ, JJ, Gueye, Garuba, Vit….

veterans, some of them are 22,24….

Young, Murray, Bogi, Hunter, Bey, OO, Capela… we may add Matthews and Bruno but they are on the limit that sets which player is or is not on the league. We are really thin on the frontcourt and we need some size, defense and veteran presence there, FA market is squeezing fast.

  6. Yeah, we had 21 TO for 16 assists. Bufkin had 8 TO for 3 assists, and 8 fouls, is really concerning. AJ 4 TO for 1 assists. Best man was Vit with 5 assists and no TO.

Hopefully we are able to correct this on 2nd game but Bufkin could be far from been our backup PG, something not so rare for a rookie.

AJ goes from untouchable future star to draft mistake in one summer league game. A couple days ago giving him up for Siakam would have killed our franchise

Allready said that I have faith in AJ, I think he has a lot of potential but I wanted Eason badly.

And I am worried with Bufkin honestly.

  8. Well, first game of the summer league

    Tari Eason outplayed AJ

    Cam Whitmore outplayed Kobe

I still have faith on AJ but Eason and Cam were consensus targets at draft, we ended not picking them and Houston stole them from us. We could use any of them on our F rotation that is thin.

  9. We are undersized at PF and C, our 2 best frontcourt players do not fit, OO and Capela, thy cannot share the court, JJ has no experience starting, Bruno and Garuba did not see the court on Houston, Gueye is 2nd rounder…..We have no stretch 4 or 5.

If you think we are good to go to the playoff with this frontcourt you are wrong.

  10. Well, there is nothing wrong with standing pat and keep our assets but we need to add some size and defense on the frontcourt if we want to compete.

    Trae/Bufkin/Tyty

    DJM/Bogi/Aj
    Hunter/Bey

    is ok, but

    JJ/Garuba/Gueye

    Capela/OO/ Bruno

is not good, is not a good fit and will get destroyed on the playoffs, we need to improve it with a PF with size and defense and a stretch 5.

  11. Ummm

I think chances Siakam comes here are nearly none.

Chances that KAT is traded I think are low, is going to be difficult to get an all-star of that caliber here without paying a high price and I doubt we are doing that. If we are able to keep JJ, AJ, OO and Hunter for me is a no brainer but I am beginning to get the feeling this trade will not get done. Hopefully I am wrong.

Last bit and I don't think anyone else has mentioned this. The Murray extension can be related to something simmering under the surface. A few big markets (NY/Phi/LA/SA/Houston) are not happy with their no title status and want a name to sell jerseys and the name privately being floated is Trae Young. Teams have inquired as to what it would take to get Young. Murray's signing, the team drafting a Murray like player in Bufkin and trading for TyTy is a little scary given the chatter. Nothing there is imminent (that I've heard) but if the Hawks aren't competitive by the All-star break, they may go "big" and move Trae for a star big, move Murray to the full time starter at the point. Become more defense oriented. Trae and his people are aware. The above teams have all inquired about Trae. LA and NY having the most interest. All exploratory at this point but the haul back would very high

Well, in 2-3 years a lineup of

    DJM/Bufkin

    AJ/

    Hunter/

    OO

    KaT

+ The assets we get for Young/Capela/Bogi/Bey/JJ

Seems like a real legit contender for me... I would say more than now....

  13. If the trade is made...

Garrison Matthews is a guy we can use, he is a good shooter and decent defender, he can fill a role, however with a wing rotation of Bogi, AJ, Matthews, Hunter.... We lack size for Big wings. If we could trade Bogi instead of Bey that would be perfect.

Ok the Frontcourt more of the same issue, a rotation of KAT, OO, Garuba, Gueye and Bruno... We lack a capable reserve and size at PF and C.

  14. The problem with this trade talk is that we are not making more moves and now all the stretch five options are gone, Bamba, López and Bryant ar signed.

In my opinion this was key for our team as Capela and OO only play on the Paint, adding one of these players would create a lot of rotation options, now we are constrained.

The whole point of the rebuild was to find a franchise player and collect assets needed to go big game hunting. I love our young guys as much as anyone, and their potential is immense, but if we have learned nothing from the JC trade, we have to be willing to “sell high” on some of these guys. If we wait 2 years just to find out they aren’t who we hoped they would be we end up right back where we are trying to make moves with teams that don’t want what we have.

I’m not saying get robbed blind, but Trae’s window is now. No team wins a championship with the amount of youth we have. It’ll be at least 4 years before most of these kids are ready to contribute to a championship team. And typically, you can only have one or two young guys in your rotation if you want to win big.

We don’t just need “stars”, we need veteran leadership. We need experience. And not just the Vince Carter, Solomon Hill kind that does it from the bench. We need these “aging” guys who aren’t even 30 that can do it on the court today.

And news flash, we are already over the cap with a bunch of young guys who haven’t been extended. If OO, JJ, and AJ all become who people hope they can be, they are going to be worth 25-30+ million a year too. We are going to have to pay people regardless. That part is unavoidable.

If we want to watch a young team develop and be fun/exciting, without any hope to win big, then let’s trade Trae and start everything over now. Otherwise, it’s time to play for keeps and make tough, risky, champions building decisions.

Normally a championship team would trade contracts like Bogi, Capela, Hunter, even DJM but not JJ or AJ, never. Positive value on rookie deals are not traded. OO or Bey are more debatable.
FO needs to make a decision, DJM is the star we want next to Young? Yes? Keep and pay him, No? Trade him with a package for Brown. Use Capela, Hunter and Bogi contracts and draft assets.

Next decision, improve the frontcourt, Siakam seems like a good target for the right price, use Hunter, Bogi and Capela, even think on adding OO or Bey, never add AJ or JJ.

Do you want a trio of Young, DJM or Brown and Siakam? Yes, but the surrounding pieces need to fit. We cannot trade all our future for a expiring deal, JJ, AJ, OO and Bey are incredible value for a contender team now and in the next 3-4 years
