That’s how star players work. You have to pay them and you go into the luxury tax.
if we have bird rights Siakam will take the highest deal with us to resign. Are you afraid of spending not even you’re own money?
No, I am worried that we might improve slightly this season with no chances of been a contender while Next 4-5 years we would be significantly worse not even achieving playoffs and causing our star players to request a trade and restart the rebuilding again.

Bird in the hand vs 2 in the bush.. I'd do the the AJ, OO, DH for Siakam trade albeit I would be sad to see young talent go. Siakam is 2 time All-NBA, that isn't a fluke.
I'd prefer the DH, Capela and FRP trade but as long as we can keep Murray. You need top tier talent to win championships. Is the goal to have young players develop or to win championships.
As constructed now we aren't anywhere close to contending. Sometimes it takes shipping out your young talent for a proven star.
Do we realize that most likely is a 1 year rental for a player of 29 year old that has allready said that is not going to resign AND if you are rresigning him would be to an awful contract that would pay him MAX contract when he is 34-35 constraining your financial flexibility when your star player is on his prime? Why do you think Toronto wants to trade him?

AJ Griffin has the potential to become Jaylen Brown/Rip Hamilton type of player, he is the more clear star project we have. He was top 6 on the team on advanced stats on his rookie season. YOU JUST DON'T TRADE A PLAYER LIKE THAT!!! Because that is your wild card to become a contender, if he becomes a star during his rookie deal you can have a chance to make the finals with a team that allready has 2 stars and a good starters.
Same but to a lesser extent applies to OO.
If they make the leap they are supposed to do you become a contender, and they are close.

I don't want to lose OO or AJ on any Siakam deal, that is a terrible deal for Atlanta, terrible.

Usman can be a really good backup PF with some development on the offensive positioning. He was key with Hernán Gómez on latest Eurocup and played the PF position and C.

If this is the price I rather start JJ and Hunter at F positiions and hope for a value increase under Quinn and make a trade later.

If Nurkic is coming here, we would have Nurkic, CC and OO. That is a logjam at C of players that cannot share the court.
No starting PF anda undersized at SG and SF.... I don't understand how this improves Atlanta.
I think the price is too high. I prefer JB to DJM but not at the cost of Hunter JJ, a first and a full un balance of the roster, that is too high. We would need to substituye Hunter for Capela and remove JJ and I am fine.

We need size, we don’t need another undersized PF.
We are undersized at C, at PF, ok at SF if Bey and Hunter are splitting minutes and undersized at guard on some rotations, we need to improve it. Grant Williams is not a solution. Bamba, Bol, Ayton, Siakam are steps on the right direction

Well breakout candidate is clearly AJ and I think chances are good he make a leap this year.
JJ might be but I think is less likely, shooting is a problem.
Bufkin and Gueye... I prefer to take a look at them before any judgment but I think is less likely than JJ.

Bol or Bamba could be good additions

You just named off two of the most valuable players we have.
Everybody gets all in a tizzy about JJ and OO and AJ... however the truth is.. that the work in the areas that others are hoping these others can do is being done very well by Capela and Bogi. I would say under no circumstance should we trade Bogi. You don't find guys who can wake up out of a strong sleep, get a basketball and shoot 42% from three without washing his face. That's who Bogi is. Our ECF run was because we had great shooting from Bogi. Bey is a good sidekick but he's not ready to be Batman. And AJ is going to be Batman one day.. but not yet.
Clint... Sheez. I listen to you guys talk about all the good that OO is doing. He's great. I realize that a lot of this gas is due to the fact that we drafted him. Surely, most of you didn't watch the series against Boston or the game against Miami. Clint was the Miami win. His defense and rebounding shut down all of their second chances. I have chalked it up to we won't miss Clint until he's gone. I just hope that we get more for Clint than we got for JC. Clint is very valuable.
Hunter's best defense is Supes on Hawksquawk. I have seen no impact. He doesn't produce turnovers. He doesn't block shots. He just stands in front of his man and bothers his shot. He doesn't provide help defense. He's not a defensive savant. He is just out there. Some people think that that's good POA defense. Not really. I had a season with Delon Wright. That guy can write a book on how to play defense. And Hunter and Murray should buy it.
I understand the value they have today but you need to understand the value this team will have in a year.
The moment we drafted Bufkin and AJ, I want them to play the minutes at guard rotation.
Trae and DJM are going to play 30-35, I want the rest of the minutes 13-18 to go to Kobe and AJ. AJ is a star prospect, he provides the same value as Bogi much cheaper, has the tools to be a better defender. Bufkin shots also well and defends well, we cannot play Bogi with Trae at backcourt if we don’t want to get destroyed. I want size at SF, I don’t want Bogi or AJ there. Is a bad idea to pay 18 million to a guy that cannot share his natural position with your star or you need to play him out of position.
Capela is a good center but we would get Siakam in return to pair with OO that is better duo than JJ/Capela.
Today is the day Bogi and Capela have more value, hey we can wait 1-2 more years and make a Collins deal or lose them for nothing, you think is a better plan?

He is already saying he is not resigning

I think we have our 1st rd pick and SAC next off season.
I am talking about 2025 draft, if you give DJM, Bufkin, OO and Hunter and Siakam walks…. What is the team you have in 2 seasons?
-
If this is the price I don't want any trade for a 1 year rental of a 29 year old player that is 20-25th on the NBA.
This is crazy, if we pay that bill Fields should be fired.
If Siakam walks Next year what team you have? Lottery team hoping for a fist rd pick you traded to SA? Can you see how stupid all this is?

I really hope we don't trade anything valuable for Siakam. I could accept Capela and Bogi and that is it. I don't even want to lose Hunter. If Hunter is included I want Achiuwa or Boucher on Hawks uniform.

If you are going to make a big investment on a big, it makes sense to do it on a guy on the same timeline as Trae not on a 30 year old that is expiring contract and has already expressed that will not resign if traded.
Pairing KAT and Trae is he best thing that can happen, I don’t think Minny is trading him.

I thought we would see TyTy Washington and Usman Garuba

Bruno and Matthews are playable. Bruno as a 3rd string center behind Capela and OO for certain matchups requiring size, as for example to stop a top tier center.
Matthews can be a 4th/5th wing on any team.
Garuba might be the best backup PF for certain matchups
Rest of them I think are not playable

I want to see summer league and off-season before making any judgment.
For me at the moment is C, we did not solve any of the issues we had on the roster, apparently we added some young talent but I want to see how they perform on summer league. We gained some financial flexibility but we have not used it to improve the roster for the moment.
we still need size and defense specially on the frontcourt and we did not solve those issues.

I don’t know him but seems that he is a combo guard with no PG abilities that do not have the size to play off the ball, hopefully we can develop him into something
- 1
-
He is a good defender that can hit the 3, he is a PF that is more confortable playing C, however if he completes the transition to PF he can be a contributor.
-
I would only consider taking PG for Capela and Hunter if Clipps include Mann and we can get a Young and promising Frontcourt player or a first rd pick
-
I don't want PG on Atlanta. He is allready 33, huge contract, injury prone, you bet all your money on him and he might fail to make the playoffs, do not fit our team timeline.... I cannot find a reason to like the fit

The only 2 players I want are Mo bamba and Thomas Bryant and in that order. I think we really need a stretch big to pair with OO and a big with size that can defend, Bamba is an incredible fit with OO and Bryant is a good player

I think we should explore a trade with Hornets to get PJ Washington to play him as starting PF
