  1. I dont undrstand why we cant do deals like this one. How perfect would it have been to get DMC (as old and worn out as he may be) to teach his heir Prince the culture and magic of the 60-win Hawks. I dont care if he's an expensive player coach its better than buying out Jamal with no additional value. It would make Bud at least marginally happy, and we get a first AND a second rounder in the process. But no we would rather pay 18-20 mil for Diamond stone and Jamal's contract over the next couple years.
  2. I hope he grew out of some of his weaknesses from college by now (work ethic, effort, immaturity, inconsistency). Does not sound like the type of player Bud wants to babysit. Link
  3. Ferry got Bud to leave the Spurs after 17 seasons. Bud probably had plenty of opportunities elsewhere but he chose the Hawks and Ferry had a large part in that. Bud and Ferry built this team with the type of players Bud wanted to develop. Bud and his staff went through all the work of developing them, seeing them blossom into a 60 win team and validating his hard work, philosophy, and selections. As years go by, one by one, each leave the Hawks. Now a new GM is in town, and my feeling is Bud might not have as much say in the decisions Schlenk makes as he did with his buddy Ferry. So the question now is, will Bud have the patience to start all over, knowing what he once had? If the answer is no, I do think that 60 win team was a bit of a curse.
  4. High praise for Zarren from some stat oriented GMs in Morey and Hinkie: http://www.masslive.com/celtics/index.ssf/2017/01/houston_rockets_daryl_morey_bo.html
  5. Did not know that but that doesn't surprise me much. Lets see if Ressler can do better. Just want to see our new owner drop some cash on something more pressing than a Bud Light "Down for Whatever" section of the arena.
  6. What does it take to get a D-league team? Does it take a while to apply for one? It seems like its a definite need if we are a team focused on player development. With all the potential gems we like to find from other teams/overseas it should be one of our foremost goals this year. Especially before we drop cash on a new stadium or renovations. I remember we made an investment on the SportsVU analytics system shortly after Ferry came in, surely we can fork over the cash for a D-league team! Where else are we going to develop the likes of Patterson, Tavares and GR3?
  7. Why does it seem like for whatever reason there is always a Player X scores 25 Highlights Video on youtube and its always against the Hawks.
  8. Well with the rumors of us potentially moving up, I figure I put all the guys im high on, even if they sound dream scenario-ish. Guys who seem to be in and around the 15 area that I would like: D. Booker R. Vaughn J. Anderson R. Hollis- Jefferson To be honest if given the chance I think we should definitely move up. We wont be this near 10-13 range again so we might as well cash in on it.
  9. In order: 1.) J. Winslow 2.) S. Johsnon 3.) M. Hezonja 4.) D. Booker 5.) M. Turner 6.) R. Vaughn
  10. This is why I love Five Thirty Eight. Wouldn't mind getting Booker after seeing this but Stanley and Winslow have been my wing favorites for this Draft. Interesting how Russell has the highest star and bust percentage. Talk about a boom or bust pick!
  11. But in actuality what do you think Silver did? Gearon still got his way, ousted the guy he hated, and is festering around like a latent disease, probably waiting for the right moment to attack Ressler when he least expects it. I really really wonder why Ressler who probably has dealt with his share of snakes in the realm of Private equity for 25 years decided to have ANYTHING to do with Gearon.
  12. Wont' the cap be even tighter if we are supposedly bringing in Tavares? Wonder how much we pay him.
  13. This is amazing. I love stuff like this! Thank you.
  14. I cant help but think of the multiple reports of the Hawks being linked to Kristaps Porzingis back in 2014 in relation to now. Say what you will about Danny Ferry's US talent picks but he has been money on those overseas picks. Look at the value he would have got at the 15th pick if Kristaps would have stayed in the 2014 Draft. The kid is shooting up the draft board and killing his workouts. We wouldn't have wasted a pick on Adreian Payne either. I am willing to bet this was Ferry's first pick but he withdrew 10 days before the draft. This with the combination of Dario Saric being sniped by the Sixers probably forced Ferry into picking his 3rd or 4th choice in the draft in Payne. "Kristaps Porzingis (7'1, 220 pounds) was shooting up draft boards and considered a first-round selection for the 2014 NBA Draft--including rumors that the Atlanta Hawks among others were pushing for his agent to keep him in the draft." "Adreian Wojnarowski of Yahoo was first to report the news, but this is a move that could potentially change the course of Danny Ferry and company. There was substantial groundswell that the Hawks could be zeroing in on Porzingis with their first round pick, and even if that was more chatter than anything else, it certainly seemed like a reasonable fit for Atlanta." "Porzingis has reportedly received assurances he'll be selected in the top-15 of the draft as enticement to stay in at the June 16th deadline according to sources close to the situation, and still needs to decide if he wants to accept that. He would likely stay another year in Spain and come over in 2015. It's possible that with another year of seasoning Porzingis could be selected much higher than this, but there are no assurances of that materializing. The Hawks have shown no qualms in the past about doling out promises to international prospects (for example Giannis Antetokounmpo last year), and many NBA teams feel strongly that they are the ones who offered him the guarantee." http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2015/3/12/8165493/nba-mock-draft-kristaps-porzingis-myles-turner-atlanta-hawks http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2014/6/11/5801396/2014-nba-draft-rumors-kristaps-porzingis-promise-atlanta-hawks http://www.peachtreehoops.com/2014/6/15/5813338/kristaps-porzingis-withdraws-from-2014-nba-draft
