  1. Hawks definitely should've gone all-in to get the guy. He's just too talented to not pair up with a guy like Trae. Another dominating performance vs Milwaukee. Maybe that changes once Giannis gets back. But until then, he's easily the 2nd best player in the series. Makes me sick to my stomach that we didn't secure this guy.
  2. Either better defensive players, or more versatile offensive threats. Hunter is low energy. If he's not scoring the basketball, he's not affecting the game at all. Capela is too limited offensively and not impactful enough defensively.
  3. Like I've been saying . . . . the frontcourt is the issue folks.
  4. ( tear in my eye ) This would be some stuff that I would look up. Good job RE!!
  5. I've said all year that these two are not the major problem with this team, no matter how bad they defend on the perimeter. The problem with this team is on the frontcourt. Our frontcourt is not athletic nor aggressive enough on both offense and defense, to compete with high level teams. That's why this team goes straight to hell whenever just one of those guys are out of the lineup. Capela is a high caliber rebounder, but he is not a high level rim protector any more. People score easily on him in the post. On offense, we have no chance to stretch the floor with him on the court, which makes it harder for our guards to beat people and score at the rim. Capela routinely gives up 50% DFG shooting. Hunter's worth is offensive only, and that's when he's making the 3 ball. We can't even tout him as even an average defender, because his defense makes ZERO impact on a game. Combine that with his weak rebounding numbers, he's one of the biggest issues on the team, from a consistency standpoint. I've said for 4 years now that he'd be better at the 2, than at the combo 3/4 spot, because he plays like a 2. JJ is a very talented offensive player, but he is not a top level scorer. His game is to be that all around guy that does some of everything. A good coach might even consider running a good chunk of offense through him, so that it frees Trae and DJ up for shots and dribble drives off the ball. On defense, his help defense is good, but his man defense is sub par. He's also not a rim protector, averaging only 0.8 blocks per game. Okongwu's poor defensive rebounding is a killer for this team, when he's in the game in place for Capela. And here's the big red flag for Okongwu: Per 36 minutes Okongwu: 14.4 pts - 9.6 rebs - 1.9 asst - 0.7 stls - 1.5 blks . . . . 61% FG - 79% FT ( on 3 att ) - 33% 3FG - PER: 16.9 Fernando: 14.9 ppg - 10.2 rebs - 2.4 asst - 1.3 stls - 1.5 blks . . 58% FG - 67% FT ( on 5 att ) - 0% 3FG - PER: 15.2 When Bruno actually got decent playing time, he's shown that there's not much difference between he and Okongwu. Bruno was the better defender. OO is the better offensive guy. With both of them being undersized centers, how much of an impact is OO really for this team? And if he can't take Capela's spot as the starter, his value is even less for the team. Keep both Trae and DJ . . . go get an all-star level frontcourt player.
  6. Negative. Bruno has done his job as a backup C since OO been out. It's up to the coach to do something different, with a player is cooking you like that. Quin has been very poor in making adjustments this entire season. We have a young guard on the bench who is already arguably our best defensive guard. Toss him out there for 5 minutes and see what happens. And if the team plays well, extend his minutes. Trae played 43 minutes tonight. DJ 46 minutes. Dre played 42 minutes. With Trae and Dre pretty much sucking on offense all night, and DJ probably running out of gas in the 2nd half, would it have killed Quin to try to do something else?
  7. LOL . . . ya'll see what ESPN just did when talking about the Hawks? Said we've missed the playoffs for the 4th time in the past 7 years. Why would you frame it like that, when this is the first time since 2021 that we've missed the playoffs. You can frame a narrative any way you want. ESPN ain't shit.
  8. Doubt it. Front office will correctly cite that we were missing JJ, OO, and Bey. But the roster is still flawed because we're too small on the frontline, and we don't have enough athletes on this team. Also, you have to highly question Quin Snyder as a coach. He made no adjustments whatsoever to try to slow down Coby White.
  9. Trae will take the major hit for this game. Dre will take the secondary hit. But ya'll better have smoke for Quin as well. He still coaches offensively, not defensively. With Trae and Dre having the games they had tonight, you would think that he'd give someone on the bench a chance to provide a spark. He did it in the 2nd quarter and it got us back in the game. But this is just as a big of an indictment on Quin, as it is on any of our players.
  10. OK . . Future didn't work. Let's go the opposite way.
  11. Now let's not lie about Trae now. He's been well below average tonight, but Trae not having heart isn't the narrative we're going with tonight.
  12. I hate the fact when he doesn't just let the shot fly, and tries to make perfect passes to others . . . in traffic. He's much better off just being a volume shooter and just getting shots up. Even if he misses, we have a top 5 offensive rebounder in the league that can get us a 2nd shot. He's gone to the line 11 times, but he only has 9 shot attempts. No way in hell are we winning like that. If his hand is hurt that bad that he can't get up shots, that's one thing. But I think he's just trying to play team ball too much. The open court turnovers were killers, because they all led to points.
  13. Coby White seeing red anytime Bogi is on him. Would be nice if Quin did something creative, like put a rookie defensive guard on White? No chance at that though. Gonna live and die with this group.
  14. Last gasp rally song Hawks will need a quarter like they had in the 2nd, to pull this out. Let's see if we can cut deep into this deficit within the first 5 minutes of the quarter.
  15. Not only are they playing well, they're playing great.
  16. Bench is going to have to give us big minutes, like they did in the 2nd quarter. That group collapsed under Trae, but thrived under Murray. Let's see how Quin plays this. He wasn't stopping that break even if he did get back . . . but point taken.
  17. Not going to give you that BS now Trae. Refs have stopped calling that for everybody, unless you're Steph or Durant.
