  1. So this is where it doesn't make any sense to me. If he goes 6-6 over the next 3 games he won't qualify despite perhaps having the best % in the league. But if he goes 7-14 he'll qualify?
  2. Thank you. I can believe it. Folks only remember when someone is hot and taken out and then there's a loss. No one remembers if there's a win and no one remembers when someone is hot and left in and goes cold. No one remembers when a guy is hot subbed out and the team goes on a bigger run. The Malachi-games are blue moon type events that happen on terrible teams. I'd also say that Quin is definitely rigid but there are examples of him sticking with guys who are doing well on the court. So i don't think it's cause for alarm yet.
  3. They could fix the lottery by making the odds a formula of your last three seasons record. If someone really wants to tank three seasons then go for it but otherwise i think it would resolve a lot of tanking if a single season tank doesn't drastically improve your odds.
  4. It's been proven though that number of pro games on the body means more than age and Luka has as many games on him as any at his age. He's still got a scary amount of 'prime' left in him but not sure it's going to be 10 years.
  5. They did a really good job with the format. My inclination would have been to have 9&10 play a game and then the winner play #8 for the 8th seed and leave #7 out of it. But as you point out the current format keeps more teams engaged at the end of the year.
  6. It's crazy how Mookie was hitting so many threes in an era where scores were often under 100 points a game and at the same time being all defense and steals leader.
  7. Maybe i'm just being dumb but why is it made 3s vs attempted that qualify you for the leaderboard?
  8. No doubt. there's just been so much unstable-ness about this season. 13 games without Trae isn't something I'm going to base my franchise decisions on.
  9. Wow. I like Clifford and he has been a really good coach in this league. I was shocked to learn he's only 5 years older that Quin though.
  10. We've won 13 games without Trae and half of those wins were against tanking teams or teams missing their top players. So based on those 13 games we're going to make the judgement that the team is better without Trae? Let's get real here.
  11. But the record is not over .500 when Jalen is out. That's the point.
  12. I'll admit to being critical of Garrison a lot but it's pretty obvious why he is playing. Now that things have regressed to the mean it exposes that we are a very average 3 point shooting team. These are the top 4 who also happen to be 4 of the best teams in the league Boston has 4 guys >40% and 6 guys shooting better than Bogi from 3.
  13. If you want to just talk wins and losses the obvious issue, pointed out numerous times, is the lack of PF depth on this team. When JJ plays we're a .500 team. When he doesn't we're below .500. Regardless of whether Trae or DJ or both are available.
  14. It would be a classic Hawks move to choose the guy with a stretch of a few months of elite play over a guy with 5 years.
  15. The reason Bruno, Vit and Mathews have been valuable is because they learned the system and what Quin wants out of them. The same can be said for post injury Hunter. OO was starting to get there when he got injured. Bey the same. We started the season with no depth and a whole new system. It was going to take some time and then injuries happened. But we're 10-9 since the all star break despite missing 4 rotation players for much of it. We have obviously started playing much better regardless of personnel. But the fact that we can have 'third stringers' step in and hold their own when needed is a sign of good coaching. We should remember that from the Bud days.
  16. The increase in hustle on defense has been noticeable the last couple months. Also the league stopping the ticky tack crap has helped us tremendously.
  17. As much as i don't like Trae/DJ on the defensive end it could work so much better than what we've seen offensively. When we are playing with a lead, just feed DJ this mid ranger all day long. When you can afford to trade baskets it just keeps us ahead.
  18. Why'd they wait almost 3 weeks for it? maybe that's normal?
  19. This is a lot of game winners for Murray in one season. Pretty damn impressive.
  20. Honestly i can't wait to see Trae play with Bruno. We haven't really seen that this year.
  21. Guy's like Bruno, Vit and post injury Hunter were hungry and had the ability and comfort with the scheme to find their place. It's been beautiful to see. Honestly Capela has been much better since he got back into game shape too.
