    So he should only take lower % shots? That's a pretty dumb strategy to me. Also, what does playing defense or not have to do with shot selection?

    Such a weird take. He makes a higher % of the deep 3's than he does the standard 3's. He's 37% on shots 30+ feet and only 35% on shots between 25-30 feet.

    Seems weird to trade him since they signed him to be a mentor and leader in the locker room more so than on the court.

    If a team gets desperate tomorrow and ups their offers for cam or Kevin would Hawks budge or are they committed to not trading either no matter what?

    I'm not getting impatient with Cam and don't really look at it that way. My question is simply this..."Can you trade the potential of Cam for the reality of Player X and be better off for it given the Hawks expected timeline to compete?" If the answer is yes, pull the trigger. If the answer is no, don't. If the answer is not sure, then we have legit discussion about the player. I think it all depends on whether the Hawks have seen enough to believe Cam will get to be the player they envisioned when drafted in the right timeframe. You make a good point about Lanzo and Randle but the Hawks may just think they don't want to wait 4 years or 7 years for him to develop when it's no guarantee that he will. IF they can trade that potential for a player that has already developed that better fits the timeline, why not do it? Also, I've never been under the impression that all of the Hawks draft picks would be kept and play for the Hawks long term and have expected that some of them will be used to trade for other assets. I'm NOT necessarily saying that player is Lanzo either.

    Since this is the trade thread... Anyone see the BR report about Boston / Atlanta with JC talks. It's freaking hilarious in an obnoxious, arrogant boston kind of way. The Atlanta Hawks reportedly put a steep price tag on John Collins in trade negotiations with the Boston Celtics. Jared Weiss and Sam Amick of The Athletic reported the Hawks expressed a desire to land Jaylen Brown when made aware of Boston's interest in Collins. Not surprisingly, a swap involving Brown "was not going anywhere unless Atlanta was looking to include Trae Young and DeAndre Hunter, their two main building blocks." So let me get this straight....Boston is willing to trade Jaylen Brown for Collins, Trae, and Hunter. LOL.

    I think Lanzo is a good player and if he was here, I'd support him, but I can't help but picture the Rockets with Harden and Chris Paul in the backcourt together when I see this. I'm not saying it won't work, but I'd just as soon not find out. Would rather just keep the course steady and see what kind of internal improvement the young players make. With that said, I'm well aware that ONE way to utilize all the young assets is to trade them into more experienced players so I get that we may not see Kevin or Cam's prime in Atlanta. But for now, a trade for Ball wouldn't be my first choice.

    After a night's sleep, I'm going to chalk up the loss to an immature team that couldn't handle a 22 pt lead against a really good western team. And also some incredible (and statistically improbable) shooting from two backups. Oh well. On to the next one. I do have one criticism for Nate though.... he took JC out with the team up 20 with 5+ minutes to play in the 3rd and Trae out with the team up 20 with just under 4 min to play in the 3rd. He puts in Solo and Rondo, neither had done much in this game to that point. Then, as the LAC go on a run to end, no time out and no adjustments to get these dudes out of the game. Just weird. I know Trae and JC need rest so you have to sub at some point, but man it felt really sloppy without them on the floor.

    So much for elite defense and locking down the 4th qtr. Let a bunch of bench dudes run all over em. Good grief. Maybe it was the poor competition.

    Hawks went exclusively jumpers during that run and missed all of them. Inconsistency. Gotta get back to going inside.

    Why would you presume Travis is doing anything other than answer the phone? Maybe he is. Maybe he isn't. I don't know. But I sure as he'll ain't taking some best writers word for it. Especially one from another market or a national media guy.

    If Atlanta runs as transparent an organization as you say, this rumor will be in one ear out the other. It makes no sense to say they run a completely transparent organization and then also say this BS rumor is going to impact the team. If they transparent, the players and their reps KNOW what's up before it hits the media. IF this is BS (which I agree it is), then the players will know it is as soon as they hear it.

    You assume more things than any poster I've ever seen. It ok to actually acknowledge the quality of the opponent. It doesn't negate the win or the effort given by the guys. Why do you look for confrontations when not are present?!?!

    Ok. So I'm just going to say it. Last 2 possessions Trae foregoes an open shot and passes. Bogies bricks an open three and Kevin shoots an air ball.

    It obviously helps that LBJ and Davis are out so the Lakers are a shell of themselves. But regardless, Hawks are playing really tough defense. If they do this consistently against the better teams, I'll revise my opinion that they need Trae to score to have the best chances of winning.
