OO has been adding range to his offensive game every year, he's switchable on defense, he has excellent defensive instincts, and he seems to want to be here -- why the hell would you guys want to trade him? Everyone here constantly clamors for a stretch 5 and as soon as we have one that almost developed, we want to trade him? Not to mention he's elite finishing around the rim, which should not be underrated for a center starting with Trae.
All of the above does not even speak to the fact we have him on a ~$15M/year contract. He will very likely be one of the best value centers in the league in the next 3 years. Who would you guys rather have at center for $15M or less? Holmes? Zubac? Wagner? Adams? There is no one. Also, OO didn't get to play in the physical defense second half of the season where he would have been thriving. Selling on him now would be a huge blunder.
We all see all this, which makes us wonder why he's been so bad as his role increased. We don't "want" to trade him but it may have to happen.
And, on his switchability, if he doesn't know when to be where it doesn't matter how switchable he is.

Looking back on it, I was probably something less than right on that issue. As of now, I'm not necessarily seeking to trade OO, but I'm certainly open to it if the deal arises. I just don't believe he's what Quin is looking for at the 5.
Oh that's smooth.

So highest drafted is 7th or 8th best player on team? No Bueno.
The folks clamoring for us to tank for higher picks need to take notice. Draft-wise, we're the proverbial 10 year-old with a Lamborghini. Don't know what TF to do with it anyways.

Which is also why I’m fully opposed to going after B Ingram.
I'm torn on OO. Yes he's shown he can be a starter but his availability is more than questionable.
If he's our starter, the backups cannot be Capela or Bruno. And the other wing cannot be Hunter. And the 2 cannot be Murray. Positional size just doesn't work, imho.
I think he'll be a good NBA player for a long time, but I still see him more like a Taj Gibson type. Slightly better.
The fact that he never supplanted capela ... throughout his whole rookie deal ... is problematic, so say the least.

As others pointed out, he got 6 votes out of the 572 players who logged minutes in the NBA this season. It doesn't seem particularly meaningful.
And, per my unscientific study, 4.5 of those 6 dudes got nutmegged and subsequently crowned by their Insta-girlfriend.

Trying to convince me that Hollinger has sources is ridiculous and reaks of bias pushing by posters here looking for Trae to get traded.
Honestly I don’t care who gets traded but this team sucks big time at defense. But trying to tell me Hollinger is connected and more than just a columnist is fan fiction itself.
I'd say he should be considered more "connected" than some rando other writers.
However ... and it's a big but ... that doesn't mean this article is based on 'sourced' intel of any kind. Frankly, it smells like he's just sharing his thoughts, not sharing his intel.
Thus the court determines this is drivel like all the rest.
Case closed. The jury has spoken.

Yep, that's what drove me to the books.
We need an offseason thread about good shows, movies, etc to catch now that the NBA stopped existing.

Don't think we have the assets to get him though.
Heyul nawl. Dude struggled, health wise, to get through his 20's. I shudder to think what his 30's gonna look like.

I don't have any issue with Brad so I thought it was fine. Tyler is just a fan of the Hawks. It's basically just 2 dudes talking about the Hawks roster and things that need to happen this offseason, in their opinion. Nothing earth shattering.
If you are looking for any news or hard hitting journalism you are barking up the wrong tree with this. If you just want to hear two guys thoughts on how to make the Hawks better, it's fine.
This was a good listen. Shout out to @JayBirdHawk for posting the links.
Interesting to hear some similarities to what we've all been talking about. The glaring lack of wings and defense, in particular.
Interesting, when talking draft centers, there was a glaring omission from potential targets they named. I won't spoil it until hotSupes makes me mad, then I'll toss that grenade into the punch bowl.

Screw em. But hey, they got Col(d)e Anthony who some said was as good as the Hawks pg. What the problem is?

That's what I figured. If I want hard hitting journalism, I'll just go to the Edey thread and watch grown men call each other poopy heads or whatever.

This board has made me despise all center prospects because we can never talk about them reasonably. It's either "he's a bum" or "he's God's gift to basketball" lol.
Every time lol.
Yeah, at this point you gotta just enjoy the pillow fights from the sidelines. Then, if they die down, instigate a little so it kicks back up.
Not sayin that's what I'm doing but .... I'm jussayin.

Yup, I'm essentially replacing DJ with Miles Bridges and Isaac.
You don't have to get caught up on the protected first, if you think the magic will give us three firsts for DJ then think of it that way. I'm more looking at the players not the picks.
I wonder how much Pablo would want Murray there after all that clownin on him at that proAm years ago.
Also, I think your deal helps ORL more than us. They could be a high level lead guard away from being something.
I always found it comical hearing people enamored with Suggs. All their guards are backups or situational guys, including him.

Is he though? That defense is game changing and we need it. I'd love to get two or three unprotected firsts in my trade, but trying to be realistic. You don't always get what you want, but we are def improved.
Yeah man. Any health from him is tenuous at best until proven otherwise. Murray carries more value than that. Your deal smells like a salary dump, honestly.

Seems low: an oft injured guy who is limited to roughly 15mpg and I definitely don't like the protections on that pick. I'd also take Anthony Black.
Yeah @marco102 why you tryna give our stuff away for tha cheap? Isaac is a distressed asset. Better add some mo' stuff.

Not sure what it means, if anything.
Another potential sidebar to make note of here: Young continues to be represented by Klutch Sports — same as Murray — but league sources say Young’s father Rayford Young also recently secured formal NBA agent certification.Daaaang, my next outsiders update was gonna be Trae firing Klutch. Marc Stein read my mind. That's crazy.

2024 Hawks Offseason Thread: Lottery Bound

It's not that, imho. Honestly it's akin to why I devalue draft picks. We don't have time to wait for them to be consistently impactful and reliable. Same with OO. He's showed stretches of impactful play but a strong argument can be made that we're too many years in to keep waiting to see it every night.
