PHILADELPHIA (Ticker) - Temple guard Brian Polk, who sat out the first seven games of his junior season, on Thursday declared for the NBA draft.

Williams filed his early entry as an underclassman, sending a letter to the NBA office in New York stating his intentions.

This past season, the 6-4 Polk averaged 12.9 points and 4.5 rebounds in 33 games. He started 12 of the last 13 games, averaging 18.2 points.

In the Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament, Polk upped his scoring average to 22.3 points per game while shooting 56 percent (24-for-43). Sparked by that performance, he was named to the Atlanta 10 Conference All-Tournament team.

The early-entry deadline to declare for the draft is May 12. The predraft camp, which is by invitation only, is scheduled for June 3-6 at Moody Bible Institute in Chicago. June 19 is the deadline for early-entry withdrawal for the June 26 draft.
