DrReality
Saw him and the Dukes at Botanical Gardens last night. Great concert. Wonder if anyone else saw him. Played 3 hours
coachx
He is a great singer / song writer. I have seen him play at the Ga Theater a several times in Athens back in my college days. (About 10-12 years ago.) Those who choose radio crap over true story tellers and song writers like him don't know what they are missing.
Moderators macdaddy Posted August 4, 2011 Moderators Report Share Posted August 4, 2011 I just noticed this post. I"m a huge Steve Earle fan and his show a few years ago at the variety playhouse was one of the best shows i've ever seen. The Botanical gardens show this year i was disappointed in though. Of course, it was probably the most perfect July night that Atlanta has ever seen. I'll admit we ended up sitting way toward the back so maybe we were too far removed to get into the full vibe. I just got bored with slow ballad after slow ballad. To me the show never progressed and he seems to be focusing only on his introspective songs these days. Even so he continues to be probably my favorite artist working today and a seriously under rated guitar player. Speaking of slow ballads. This is Steve doing one of the greatest ever. I love this song.
DrReality
Late in the concert one of the speaker systems started to work that probably didn't help the sound. I think he reflects our current day culture in a way that few do. My favorite was his Jerusalem tour
