Ferry haters are the only ones who ever pretended this in the first place.

Yeah and this board thought Ferry was an idiot last summer lol.  I will wait and watch the pocket GM's be wrong again.  Bud/Wes will prove you all wrong.

Dragic 5yrs/$90 mil at age 30.

Must be Halloween or Oprah giveaway special - max contracts like candy and cars.

A good GM would let these teams destroy themselves and pick up the ashes later like DF did with Millsap and Carrol 2 years ago

Won't a max deal now be a bargain once the cap goes up in a year when the new TV money kicks in?

This Joe Johnson contract will never be a bargin and once Horford is a free agent and realizes that we paid Millsap 20 million but don't have the money to treat him that way Horford will leave.

The offer is also bold maneuvering for the Magic. Either they get an All-Star two-way player in decent shape for a 30-year-old who hasn't peaked yet and a solid veteran presence for a youthful roster, or they compel a division rival to eat up cap space and/or risk losing one of their other prime free agents trying to keep the guy.

The deal for Sap must be back loaded to account for the rise in the cap. In a few years, $20m may be equivalent to a $12-$13M contract.

In what World is a 34 year old tweener powerfoward worth 25-28million?

Dude, it's 4/80. It can be backload and at the least it's 17 mil in year 1.

Exactly. Hennigan knows exactly what he's doing.

I'd honestly let Millsap walk for that much. Try to go after LMA and if that doesn't work get a rent a center, move Horf to PF full time and try not to WASTE our first round pick in next year's draft.

I agree. Millsap is a good player, but he is a super Malik Rose. You don't hand 18 million per year to that type of player.

Technically, all you need is 1 year of flexibility before the 1st rise in cap. $22M dollar jump to $89M next year and up to $108M the year after. That's 2/3 more money available than what we have today.

Even if they can only drop it to $17M in year 1, that $3M in savings may keep us out of the luxury tax this year (assuming we pick up a few more vets). That assumes that DMC gets a deal similar to Middleton + $1M.

And what are we going to have to pay to keep Horford down the road?
