Zinno interview with C-Viv

[Watchman]

Did anyone beside me catch last night's interview on A to Z sports on 92.9?  Zinno (sp?) interviewed C-Viv between 8:00 and 9:00 (I missed the last 7 minutes - hopefully nothing earth shattering was said then).

Re:   Jarret Jack - not being considered by the Hawks - evidently injury was too severe.

Re:    Him of whom we do not speak  -  He wanted to run the ad in the AJC earlier, but didn't because he didn't want to steal Bazemore's thunder.  Thinks Hawks didn't really want to re-sign this former player.

Re:    Dwight Howard - you can tell C-Viv doesn't really care for the signing.  He re-iterated that the Hawks would have to redesign their offense to accommodate Dwight.  Mentioned Korver's similar take on the topic.  (As an aside, C-Viv felt that Korver might still start, as they will need him to spread the floor for Dwight, and that Dwight as a rim protector could cover for Korver on defense as needed.)

Re:     Backup PG - Doesn't think it's too likely we will sign a free agent PG.  Thinks we will probably trade for one.  Thinks the Hawks want to add a veteran PG to stabilize Schröder. 

Re:     C-Viv - Continued to show he has a very limited understanding of the salary cap, etc.  Still thinks sign and trade players can still get a 5 year deal.

Re:     Millsap - Mentioned potential impact of being dangled in potential trades.  Doesn't know how that will affect Millsap's psyche.   Pointed out something not commonly mentioned in the media:   Millsap took less than the max salary (are you listening oh great Him of whom we do not speak?) to play here.  Had bigger $$$ offers elsewhere. 

If anyone caught the last 7 minutes, did they divulge the name of the mystery "big name" PG that we might acquire?

If I left anything out, please mention it.

Thanks for posting this. Didn't think we would have to trade for a vet PG but we'll see how that goes.

I don't know who we would target for a backup PG that would be available and that would be a "stabilizing" force for Schröder.

I'm convinced that he's far less connected than many posters here. Everything he said is either speculation or just common knowledge.

I could be wrong but don't think he said that. He worded it confusingly by saying that the 3rd year is the option year, when he corrected Zinno who seemed to be the one who thought Sap had 2 years before opting out.

I sort of agree with this.   If the Hawks really wanted to keep Horf they would have covered the difference between the two offers.  At the same time, if Horf really wanted to be here he would have signed for slightly less.  It's just a messy situation.

Mystery "big name" PG sounds interesting.  Not sure who that would be who's willing to play backup.

I think his words were confusing.  He did say something about Paul being able to opt out in two years, and then later said that he could opt out after next season.

Yeah, to hear him tell it, he has discussions with Bud, and even told him that if this Howard thing backfires, Bud could lose his job.  I'm sure he said that to Bud .

I missed the end too but I doubt he had anything specific. I just got the impression It'll be someone cheap who'll be battling Delaney for the backup spot.

C-Viv unplugged, just like he is with the Hawks. 

He said the same thing last week about trading for a PG - we are still waiting.

Yeah the coach that got us to the ECF for the only time in Atlanta Hawks history two years ago is going get fired for a big FA signing. Don't think so.

I think either Zinno or C-Viv thought that we should have gone after Rondo, but then they finally realized Schröder wanted to be the starter, and Rondo would not take a back seat to him.
