Isaia Cordinier's season in the French LNB Pro A league wrapped up about ten days ago. His Antibes Sharks failed to make the playoffs at 12-22, 14th out of 18 teams, but did win five of their last nine (the final game resting Cordinier and the starters) to avoid relegation to LNB Pro B.

IC is still icy with his shot, nailing just 23% of his three-point attempts, worst among the Sharks' top 11 three-point shooters. His Sharks averaged the fewest points in Pro A. He also shot just 44.4 percent on two-pointers, and 70.0 percent on freebie, while averaging 6.5 PPG and 1.9 APG over an average of 23.0 minutes. Among his better games was late last month, with 15 points on 6-for-9 FGs plus a team-high four assists during a 90-71 loss to Nanterre.

Meanwhile, Sergiy Gladyr is not dead yet! He's still on the good side of 30 (age 29 this October), and his team, AS Monaco, has the top seed in the LNB Pro A playoffs after finishing the regular season at 30-4. A three-point bomber off the bench, he led the team with 42.7 3FG%, averaging 8.9 points in 20.2 minutes per game. His team prevailed in the midseason LNB Leaders Cup at Disneyland Paris, with Gladyr winning the tournament MVP trophy.

I think the days of drafting Euros and leaving them there is winding down. Not completely but I think in the future when NBA teams start selecting euros they won't pull a Fran Vasquez or Rudy Fernandez (well kinda for him)...

I love Euros but when we draft one I'd actually love to see him play for us like Sergiy or Cordinier.

Hopefully with patience we will see Cordiner in a Hawks uniform scoring, dishing and slamming for us. Think most of us figure a couple of years from now if not more though. Do think he will happen for us.

I hope so. I'd love to see him in a Hawks uni in a couple or few years. I just want to see him be on the roster one day. A little production would be cool too...lol

Aahhaha. I think I spent too much time reading that "Schlenk Quote" thread. When I opened this thread it was like a breath of fresh air.

Quick Q&A update on "Machine Gun Swede" (Marcus Eriksson), as he has been lighting it up in Euro play for Gran Canaria.

http://www.eurocupbasketball.com/eurocup/features/interviews/i/8jqti7dneurgv6xx/marcus-eriksson-gran-canaria-this-club-has-high-ambitions

Quote

[Feb 22 2018] By advancing to the 7DAYS EuroCup Quarterfinals, Herbalife Gran Canaria has become the just the second team ever to reach the final eight in the competition in four successive seasons. A big reason for its success this season has been shooting guard Marcus Eriksson.

The team’s leading scorer at 15.4 points per game, Eriksson amazingly has a better shooting percentage from outside the arc (45 of 82, 54.9%) than inside (29 of 67, 43.3%)! He ranks second in three-point shots made per game (3.2), trailing only John Roberson of already-eliminated ASVEL Villeurbanne.

After a career between Manresa and Barcelona's squads - first, second and junior teams, Eriksson is full of confidence and playing great basketball, which is exactly what his team will need to win its quarterfinals series against still-undefeated Lokomotiv Kuban Krasnodar.

The Q&A also notes that Gran Canaria picked up former Hawk Nico Brussino to help out for the rest of their season.

UPDATE: We can't have nice things. I see now that shortly after that interview, Eriksson has missed the past month due to a broken wrist on his shooting-hand, while repping Sweden in some Eurobasket qualifier. He should be back and playing soon, however.

Since I just brought him up... I can't read the full thing, but it sounds like Antibes Sharks guard Isaia Cordinier had knee surgery back in January. He has been progressing well in rehab, by his own estimation, and hopes to come back stateside soon.

Gran Canaria will have to make the Liga ACB playoffs without Marcus Eriksson. His three-week diagnosis for a fractured wrist seemed optimistic at the time, but they're still hoping he'll be back in time for the postseason, if the team can make it without him.

Also, recently declared out for their French league season: ASVEL's Alpha Kaba. He'll be on the shelf until at least early June due to a patellar tendon injury. He was recently starting at center and was in the game against Cordinier's Antibes when he suffered his injury.

Oh, and Dimitrios Agravanis (ACL) was already out for the season, as declared by Greece's Olympiacos back in December.

Ha Ha!  I noticed, every shot, he crosses the line, making every shot a two point shot and not a three!

:stirthepot:

But, all Hawk fans tend to forget any and all draft and stash players we have.  Could it be that they really have someone hid there that might be of help in the future, either as a player or a trade piece?
