gurpilo
We should try to sign guys like Tyler Ennis, Muhammad, Terrence Jones, McDaniels, Zeller, Reed, Dedmon, Lauvergne or even Motiejunas. At worst they take us to the bottom of the east where we already are, at best some of them develop on valuable players ir even starters, we are not bad developing players. After 2 years of lottery team we will have a team built through draft and we could go after big FA euther with our cap or trade using this young assets. I think players like Reed, Muhammad or Jones could develop in starters with the right situation. This year's team could be Dennis/Ennis/Dorsey Bembry/Baze/Dorsey Prince/Muhammad Collins/Jones/Muscala Reed/Stone/Plumlee Thoughts?
Plainview1981
I don't know what people see in Bembry. The most he has shown so far is that maybe he can be a defensive specialist off the bench. Marco or Baze should start over him.
ThomasCredle
I think Bembry showed brief flashes of ability but was, like most rookies, thinking too much in a complex system and trying so hard not to make a mistake you end up getting to an assignment late or take a shot trying to show an offensive game that is ill advised. He had strong d league numbers where he didn't feel the pressure. He showed he can dominate a game this last game in summer league. I think this year the game will slow down for him. He will react not think about what to do and will show a lot of improvement. I don't think he will be an all star but can be a strong role player with athletic defensive skills and be competing with second team NBA players. The second year will tell if we have something or not 1st year can flat out show you can't play in the NBA but it usually takes two or three to show you can. I didn't see anything last year that made me think he flat out doesn't belong in the league. I hope he exceeds my expectations and really becomes an asset.

Well, I would expect him to play more than 9 minutes per game this year, but I don't think he should start.

I think he does deserve a chance to show what he can do this year. Perhaps 15-18 MPG to start the season. He did have handful of good games last year, but I don't think I would include him as a core player at this point though.

I completely agree he won't or should not start. I see him as a nice bench player that can back up Prince at the three or Baze (player to be signed maybe) at the two. He was a late 1st pick if he becomes a dependable rotation player that provides quality depth than I would consider the pick a success. I think he can be that. But I don't see starter or all star but maybe a sixth man of the year if he really exceeds expectations.
gurpilo
Well first game on Summer league Bembry outplayed both Prince and Collins, true he did 7 TO, but managed to score at a high %, mainly penetrating. I see some of Harden on him and really think he can be special. Hope defense earns him minutes and I am sure he will perform if has the opportunity. If we have a player with potential and we go nowhere, why we should start other player? Edited July 9, 2017 by gurpilo

Look at our roster.... Hots, you and I could get at least 8 minutes a game. I can't believe we spent 200 Million on renovations, raised ticket prices, and then put the tankapeluzza team out there.

I liked Bembry as a prospect and really really wanted the Hawks to draft him and help him develop a jump shot. It hasn't happened yet. His 22 points at summer league I guess weren't as impressive to me as they were to some people. He handled the ball too much to have 2 assists and 7 turnovers. After another showing I hope you changed your mind a little, we are not talking about a scorer on summer league, we are talking about an all around player on Bembry. I think he is a special player and we have nothing to lose by starting him. Tough defender, good passer, good ballhandling, good slasher, just lacks a jumpshot but can definately score, Harden did not have 3pt range on the first years, look at him now....

Final_quest
It's exciting to see him play well in summer league. The lack of shooters on our team is a concern though. The analytics guys have figured out that shooting three's at 38-39% is better than two's at 45%. We need shooters to stay competitive.
