The follow-up.

The Atlanta Hawks opened the preseason to great fanfare earlier this week but, while the attention paid to the team’s second exhibition contest might be fainter in some corners, Lloyd Pierce and company will take the floor on Wednesday evening against the Orlando Magic. Since that opening match-up, the Hawks executed a pair of roster moves but, as tip-off approaches against Orlando, there is plenty of big-picture intrigue as to how things will look.

From an injury standpoint, Atlanta is expected to have a fuller complement of options available, with only Allen Crabbe, Chandler Parsons and Evan Turner ruled out for Wednesday’s game. Two-Way guard Brandon Goodwin is listed as question with a right hip contusion and, beyond that, Kevin Huerter is not listed on the injury report after missing the opener. It should be noted that Huerter was not technically listed on the injury report on Monday, though, lending some uncertainty to the proceedings.

Elsewhere, Monday’s game served as a strong debut for Cam Reddish and De’Andre Hunter, both of whom will be aiming to follow that up with an encouraging performance against Orlando. Trae Young and John Collins (officially listed as probable for Wednesday’s game with left knee pain) looked like Trae Young and John Collins against the Pelicans but, overall, there is greater interest (at least in some ways) on how the newcomers look, from the rookies to young veterans like Jabari Parker.

The Hawks and Magic will square off on four occasions during the regular season and there isn’t a Zion-like buzz this time around. Still, there are always takeaways in the preseason and we’ll have you covered with all the latest.

Stay tuned throughout the day and be encouraged to utilize the comments below as a “game thread” for the action.
