Because of the work of guys like Harrell in the regular season.

So they saw bad signs with Doc, while Kawhi was resting every other game,  and Harrel  was playing his best ball under him?

But they get rid of Doc, and want to resign Harrell?

Clippers

Pelicans

Rockets

Sixers

Pacers

Thunder

Tier 1 - Clippers

Tier 2 - Pelicans, Rockets, Sixers (a bit of a different flavor with each team but overall comparable)

Tier 3 - Pacers & Thunder (both teams are good enough to have made the playoffs but also in a position where they could end up shedding key players and coming into 2021-22 with a very different roster)

Rank these coaching jobs If you had to pick from best to worse:

Clippers

Pacers

Pelicans

Rockets

Sixers

Thunder

1. Clippers - Not really open, it's Lue.

2. Sixers - Best open job on the market.

Gap

3. Pelicans - Zion, Jrue, a lot of money, assets. Probably similar to last year's Phoenix job opening.

4. Rockets - It's gonna be hard. Limited cap room. Tight pocket owner. No center. Damn!

5. Pacers - This is not a good job. Dipo and Turner wants out. Fanbase that expects to win. Lower end talent overall. They remind me of a worse Atlanta after we traded Joe Johnson because Horford still was an exceptional piece. The hope was Oladipo was that exceptional piece but injuries likely ruined that. They still have assets and maybe can make a trade or two to be interesting. I have them along with Orlando bouncing out of the playoffs in 2021.

Gap

6. Thunder - This is a rebuilding situation if there ever was a rebuilding situation. CP3 is about to be moved. Gallo is leaving. Adams and Dennis are on the trade block. This one will be tough but they are absolutely STACKED with future assets and a franchise piece in SGA. A MUCH better Atlanta Hawks in 2017-18 job. I hope OKC/Presti can be patience with this coach. Don't treat him like Atlanta treats LP.

For a Young Coach I say Pels, Thunder, Pacers... Vet coach it's Clippers, Sixers, Rockets..

i'm just not a believer that the sixers really have that much to work with.   Sure they can contend for the ECF but without finding an all star wing i can't believe they'll be a real contender.

I think we'll be surprised to see what an actual coach can do with that lineup.

On a more important note, Marcel Ozuna just hit a huge HR in the Braves' game and took a mock selfie on his way to 1st.

Haha! Suck it, Cincinnati.

Sixers - Ideal spot to make a play for the East if someone can figure out how best to utilize Embiid and Simmons, and cut some dead weight salary.

Clippers - too much high maintenance, but in the best win now category -they'll always to be 2nd fiddle to LAL

Pelicans - Young up and coming team

Thunder - they are in an interesting spot with stable management and young talent

Pacers - the quintessential Bridesmaid team, going nowhere fast, seems stuck in the mud

Rockets - they have a tough rode to hoe ahead. They built that team for D'Antoni, now he's gone.

Clippers and Sixers by far have the most talent despite the worst cap flexibility. I think the Sixers are the most primed to take a leap, while LAC is near their ceiling already, meaning improvement can only be small, but any sign of regression will be very much under the microscope. Philly  cant do much worse than how they fizzled out. So the Philly coach is set up to come in and do good, while the Clippers coach wont get any credit, but all the blame.

Thunder has a ton of assets for a new coach to build with

Houston's roster has to be overhauled as it is too far deep in to small ball. It will be a complete culture change if they go away from their tactics. I just think they are reinventing the wheel and it will be a grind to get it back on track. May take years to undo their recent moves

Pelicans really have some great young talent, but franchise management has always hurt them. The HC job is cursed there.

Indiana has no true franchise talent, are looking to rebuild, have a great fanbase, but in a stepchild market, and are basically irrelevant to the masses.

1) Philly

2) Clippers

3) Houston

4) Thunder

5) New Orleans

6) Indiana

1) Pelicans - Young team . . no pressure to win big, but to only make the playoffs and develop Zion, the future "king".

2) Sixers - Core of the team is young and are All-NBA caliber players. Ready made team to make playoffs. No pressure for championship, just progression.

3) Clippers - High pressure, but you have 2 All-NBA caliber players and a team full of vets. Ready made team to win a title, if you can create the right chemistry.

4) Rockets - Once again, 2 All-NBA players on the team that need a legit 3rd piece to compliment the stars.

5) Thunder - If you lose Adams and Schröder, you're in a full rebuilding mode. This is job security for at least 3 years.

6) Pacers - Oladipo leaving is a potential death blow, if you can't get decent fitting pieces back.  Player development type coach is key. This would be a great spot for Becky Hammon to start a head coaching career.

Y'all (not you RD8) got the Pels ranked way too high IMO. Aren't their owners cheap? By the time Zion gets good, he's going to be demanding a trade.

Zion is already good. He's just not a superstar yet.

Mike D'Antoni would do wonders for a young team like that, which could run his fast system.  Zion would flourish as the small ball center who is quicker than everyone else.  Lonzo Ball would flourish as the guy who is constantly pushing the pace and finding open shooters.  And Brandon Ingram is proving that he could be a lethal scoring wing.

So that's Zion ( 19 ) - Lonzo ( 22 ) - and Ingram ( 22 ) as your core.

That's pretty dang good.
