Popular Post kg01
Listen, I'm as excited as anybody but .... ... these next two games are gonna be tough. Don't be discouraged if we end up 2-2 by the end of the week. Offensively we have to get better. Can't rely so heavily on Trae. Hoping Heurt is back to being himself, that will help. Hoping Collins finds his consistency. Hoping Reddish continues to get acclimated, showed signs vs ORL. Hoping Hunter stays solid, his production will come. Hoping Parker bullies 2nd teams in all phases. Shiiii, if you told me we'd be 1-3 vs these first 4 potential playoff teams, I would've took that. Just thinking the 2 wins have masked some areas of improvement. Luckily, I'm sure CLP will keep the team grounded and improving. 9

Popular Post RedDawg#8
The defensive improvement is a huge factor for us. It’s almost night and day to last year. It has allowed us to fight through offensive slumps. Next, us being able to keep turnovers down is huge. We got more sloppy against the Magic but it was an ugly scrappy game overall. If we protect the ball and defend, we have what it takes to win. That and heart. This team has that 07-08 Hawks kind of heart. They are hungry
Popular Post Spud2nique
Ya we will lose games. We won’t go 82-0. It’s just nice to be 2-0 with a superstar. I’ve never uttered those words before in my life. Oh wait, 1993 ... it’s been a while. 3 1

I wanted that win so badly just because the Magic kicked our collective asses last year. I want to take down Miami too. Philly, we played them well last year and by what Derek Rose did to them, they still struggle guarding quick smaller guards. Hopefully, Trae can keep up his hot shooting and the others can get their shots going. I want to see the team be very competitive this week and beat the crap out of Miami at least once. That's it.
Popular Post High5
It'll be interesting to see what happens when Trae has a bad shooting night. It's nice that he's carrying us through these opening games while everyone settles in. Maybe the first night he struggles to score will be the night Cam's 3's start falling. Or Huerter and Hunter both go for 20+. Or Parker scores 40. I'm surprised by how much bounce he still has after 2 ACL surgeries. He's not exactly lean either.

Popular Post Lurker
Keep competing and I'll be happy. For me personally, I need this as a breath of fresh air from my other sports ventures. Its been stressful instead of fun at times there.

I caught the preseason game in Chicago and a lot of the fans were shocked at how good he looks.
REHawksFan
I'm interested to see if what Trae's "new normal" is. Obviously, no one expects him to average 38 a night. But he's doing it very efficiently so far. 38.5 pts on 23 attempts per game. That's a 1.67 PPS. The second half of last season he was great and avg 24 or so a night but on something like 18 shots, so not nearly as efficient at around 1.3 PPS. We all expected a normal progression. Is this it? Or is he just hot right now? I mean, if he averages 25 ppg the first 2 games the Hawks are 1-1 or 0-2 right now. So I guess I'm just fascinated to see what Trae looks like when he's not scorching hot. Is he 30 pts on 23 attempts (same 1.30 PPS as end of last season)? Or does he go back to 24 pts on 18 attempts? I'm guessing he's going to put up 20-25 shots a night.

Lol, I ki, I kid. Trae's scoring binge is a by product of playing with 2 rookies, Len who's been arse, and teams heavily scouting the PnR/lob to JC. Teams are running Trae off the regular 3pt line and he's killing them by getting in the lane at ease. With only 6 returning players, it'll also take time for the offense to get on track. I expect Trae's shot attempts to decrease as the season goes along, they have to, or he'll be worn out by the ASG. 6
sillent
By my 50 win calculation we are 5 games ahead of getting our !st 2 wins so this week has definitely been a bonus so far. Observing around the league this looks like the time where everyone is trying to find their pecking order and where they fit in the contention mentioning. This is almost like a fantasy roster league where most teams have atleast half of their roster changed. We keep this up and keep climbing up the pecking order my 50 win prediction might even be laughable as they surpass that. Sounds crazy but is completely obtainable since literally no one but Trae is playing anywhere near their max potential. I'm still not too high about 2 wins but the way we got or took these wins I am high on. Both wins we were dominate in to end. The Magic game may have looked close thanks to refs and other factors but watching that game I could tell the Hawks had control of it thru and thru. I see each of our players individually getting better at something each game. If we keep this up we won't just be talking about all star games and playoffs. We'll be more on the page that I know is going on inside our locker room which is let's win a ship for Vince! Laugh now but this year is different and it starts with the leadership of Trae. Not just his scoring but how he is orchestrating the game has made and will make the biggest difference this year. Also Luka playing well helps because Trae's in his "anything you can do I can too or better" bag.

Popular Post hazer
If they land 41-41, I’ll still lose the crown to @TheFuzz and @Gray Mule, who both predicted Trae as scoring leader. Knew better than going with Collins. Oh well, will still be thrilled I nailed the nimber 4
Popular Post Gray Mule
Monday night, 76ers come to visit our Hawks. They will arrive with the idea of putting a stop to this crazy idea that Hawk fans have that they have a good team. Their problem is, the Atlanta boys are good. Our secret weapon? Not Trae. Everyone now knows all about his fantastic start. It's our defense and the unexpected good play of our second unit. Don't forget, the leadership of our own VC. I've heard, over the summer, people wondering why the Hawks "wasted" a slot on their roster for VC that they could have used for a G League player. Our coach and our GM know what they are doing. 76ers may leave with a victory over these upstart Hawks. But know this. If they do, they will leave Atlanta, knowing that they have been in a fight to the finish. Nothing easy coming to any opponent this season. Sure, there will be some games this season when nothing goes right for the Hawks. They will be blown away. It happens to all teams. Don't expect too many of these games with Atlanta this season. These boys will fight as long as there is breath left in them! GO ATL HAWKS !! 8
Premium Member Popular Post Atlantaholic Posted October 28, 2019 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted October 28, 2019 Ultimately the least sustainable aspect of the beginning of the year is Trae's production. It's almost absolutely impossible he continues playing at even 80% of the level he has been playing the first two games. So yes, guys are going to have to step up. I think Huert is going to get it going in a big way and I think if Pierce gives Hunter the minutes he'll produce. (lowkey mind boggler was Hunter notching just 22 mins last game). Cam can't be worse on offense, I think Jabari will continue being a huge factor and Collins will get it going in a big way. Needless to say I'm not too worried about offense once Trae falls back down to earth or at least gets pulled back into the galaxy, and having said all this and understanding the logic of your post, I still gotta say that until this team gives me a single reason to not be absolutely ecstatically and stupidly over-optimistic about what we can do this year, I don't plan on pumping the hype brakes personally. 4
