Popular Post REHawksFan
Think about this for a minute. Trae goes off for 42 pts on 21 shots hitting 8 of 13 3's and dishing out 11 assists....................and the Hawks won by 4 pts. The hawks have won 4 games this year. Trae is avg 37 pts / 10.5 ast in those four games. They've won those four by an avg of 8 pts. And that includes opening night when they won by 17. Excluding the Detroit game, the other 3 wins Trae has avg 36.7 pts / 11 ast and the Hawks have won by an avg of 5 pts. So basically, if Trae doesn't score 31+ on a near nightly basis, they aren't winning. It's worth nothing that in the 4 games the Hawks have lost where he started and played the full game, Trae has avg 24.75 pts / 8.5 ast and the Hawks have lost by an avg of 11 pts. I'm just blown away buy how much productivity the Hawks NEED from Trae in order to win right now. I know this will lighten up over time. Getting JC back will go a long way as will seeing some growth from the rooks. But damn. Can Trae sustain any of this until that happens? I sure hope so. 5

NBASupes
Lol, we would won by 10 hitting free throws and Murray not getting that cheap last second shot with no defense

The Hawks have to rely on Trae because they are deficient in so many other areas. Hitting their FTs would certainly help. But the Hawks are 29th in the league at 69% on FTs missing about 7 per game. Trae continues to perform and every now and then get noticed...
Moderators Popular Post PSSSHHHRRR87 Posted November 13, 2019 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted November 13, 2019 Woes of being such a young team, but this is what it is to be a leader and what superstars are expected to do. LeBron, Harden, Westbrook, and Curry have been doing it for years.
Premium Member Popular Post JayBirdHawk Posted November 13, 2019 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted November 13, 2019 It comes with being 'the man, being a star player the Hawks have been clamoring for since Nique. I'm not gonna worry if he can keep it up....I'm just gonna enjoy it while it lasts for however long it lasts. You tell 'em!
Moderators Popular Post AHF Posted November 13, 2019 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted November 13, 2019 Trae - At the 2018 draft, I thought you were a high ceiling / low floor guy who was a risky pick. I underestimated your passing ability and worried you might be a defensively challenged volume scorer. The best I can say for myself is that even when you were struggling early last year, I was firmly on board after seeing your passing with NBA level teammates. Couldn't be more excited about you, young man, but apologies for the disrespect! Super glad you are here and can't wait to see you leading this team for years to come. 9

He was a low floor, high ceiling guy and it showed but his offensive talent, skills, awareness and ability to learn on the fly is a thing of beauty. I was thinking this is what Trae will be in year 4, this time last year but boy was I wrong 7
Popular Post HawkItus
I like them playing him off the ball more. Should help ease his nightly load.

It should open up a lot for his teammates when you're pulling a defender around out to 30 feet.
EazyRoc
Trae has always had MVP potential even going back to Oklahoma. It was clear that he was an explosive scorer and elite playmaker on a bad, untalented team. He literally is doing now most of the same things he was doing at Oklahoma this time with better teammates. The real pressure is being applied to the Front Office. They’re going to HAVE to shift gears. There’s no way a guy plays this hard and will be ok with not making the playoffs. Especially when you’re starting Damian Jones at C. If they don’t start trying to put a winning roster together, he’s not going to stay in Atlanta.
Moderators Popular Post macdaddy Posted November 14, 2019 Moderators Popular Post Report Share Posted November 14, 2019 Hawks are 4-6. Heurter, Trae and Collins have all missed several games or been limited Wins over spurs and nuggets The only game where we were really close to full strength we were close to beating philly 3 2019 draft picks are all in the rotation and two have started multiple games. Things are looking good. This team at full strength and some experience is going to be really good.

They can't afford to crash the plan and go for broke. We have watched as, time after time, teams have done this. It's an old adage, but true: "Plan your work. Work your plan." Growing your own is part of the master plan. When we reach the 2020 portion of the season, we are going to be very good IF we can only be healthy!!
EazyRoc
You’re missing my point I think. Do you think Trae Young is playing his ass off just to be sitting at home at the end of the year because the front office has a “plan” ? They’re going to have to shift gears. Sure, we as fans are patient and can wait for another swing in the lottery, but do you think our new superstar will be as patient ?

These players aren't dumb. They know what the plan is and what the payoff is. And they know that the grass isn't always greener.

If you think Travis wouldn't move assets for a Championship difference maker right now you're wrong. But, that opportunity isn't available yet.

I think you'd be correct IF we were 3 or 4 years into Trae's career and the Hawks were still looking up at the playoffs. But in year 2 of his career, I have to think Trae understands the situation pretty well. He knows we have 3 rooks, a suspended JC, and a HeURTter. If Schlenk doesn't shake things up this year just to make a run at the playoffs, I highly doubt Trae gets upset about it. Again, THIS year. The expectation from all involved is playoffs going forward.

Quote “It’s tough having to understand that, especially me being such a competitor and wanting to win every game right away,” Young said. “It’s the truth. You have to understand that this is a rebuilding process, but at the same time you want to be great, you want to win as much as you can. Just because you say it’s a rebuilding process doesn’t mean losing is acceptable, because it’s not. I’m definitely not taking that type of approach and I’m trying to win as many games as possible.”
