I think he's more Hasheem Thabeet than Chris Bosh.

I think he is Ayton as a rookie next year without the offensive talent. Basically, I don't think he is any good on either end of the court outside of rebounding as a rookie. I see the potential. I clearly see the potential. That's why he's still high on my actual draft board but for the Hawks. Why draft someone who's currently worse than Bruno?

1. Trade the pick

2. Ant Man

3. Wiseman

4. Haliburton

5. Deni

I think Wiseman is in play just because we might have to use the Dedmond contract in a trade.

Agreed.  Thabeet had a vastly superior college career.

🤠

Ha...I would think so since Wiseman played only 3 college games.

But I meant in terms of skillset and tools.

I just can't get excited for any of these '20 draftees.  The potential stuff doesn't get my gizzards goin' anymore.

Am I old?

I don’t live this draft myself. I’m trying to but it’s not like last year if the year before. 2017 I wasn’t full in..

Problem though is we would have to trade it for a player currently in the league right. Nobody disgruntled that is available interests me.

Exactly, plus teams will ask more than just the pick which I currently have no interest in doing.

Draft BPA, sign FAs, run with it - it gives the Core 5 a chance to develop, that way we can see more of what they can do as a group. See who's a keeper vs who isn't.

Again, here are a few players out there that I’d be interested in trading to get depending on the cost:

Marcus Smart- He’s a perfect fit to what we are doing. He’s in the damn C’s though. Ugh 😑

Terrence Ross

Buddy Hield

Norman Powell

Beal

Of that list, I’d only trade the pick for Smart, Hield and Beal....

Again with the latter 2, Hield and Beal it would require us to send most likely both Hunter and Huerter which is a deal breaker.

That leaves Smart. Again I don’t want to deal with the Celts but this would be fair to me.

Hawks trade: (5-7th) pick to Celts

Celts trade: Marcus Smart +Semi Ojeleye to Hawks

PG Trae/Smart

SG Huerter/Smart

Heck you can use Smart like a Swiss Army knife 🔪

PG- Smart

SG- Cam

SF- Hunter

PF- Bruno

C- Capela

Imagine that lineup protected a 5 point lead in the 4th. :gamer4:

If we trade that pick for smart we should fire schleck and make him repay his contract.  Semi is a net negative player too.

Spud, you been drankin?

 .. can I have some?

I think talent level Smart is worth about the 6th or 7th pick in this draft. No? Not that he’s available I’m just saying.

I love the Africans! Is he really? When I watch him play he’s always bustin his a$$ and making positive plays. Having said that I try to avoid watching them greens 🥬!

It's really hard to get what we need. We need impact players. Those aren't cheap nor are they readily available

That is why we drafted Collins, Trae, Huerter, Hunter, Reddish, Fernando and who ever is next. Teams make their garbage and overpaid role players readily available; but not their good to great players.

There is some gems in this draft but finding them is going to be a little harder this year.

My Hawks top 5 big board: May 11th

1. Anthony Edwards

2. Isaac Okoro

3. Obi Toppin

4. Deni Avdija

5. Killian Hayes

Edwards

Floor: 6

Offense - 7

Defense - 5

Ceiling: 9

Offense - 10

Defense - 7

Fit: 8

Swing Skills: Shooting and Defensive Impact at a good level

Comparison: James Harden mixed with Victor Oladipo as prospects.

Harden - 7/8.5 with two swing skills. (Shooting and Ball Handling) Turned out he secretly had another one (Playmaking)

Oladipo - 7.5/8.5 with two swing skills. (Shooting and Playmaking) Reach neither so far but close to shooting.

Okoro -

Floor: 7

Offense - 5.5

Defense - 9

Ceiling: 8.5

Offense - 7.5

Defense - 9.5

Fit: 9

Swing Skills: Shooting and Playmaking

Comparisons: Tough to say since he's a movement specialist who isn't a good shooter. I like the Jimmy Butler because there are some commonalities between the two but not really.

As Prospects:

Butler - 5.5/7.5 with two swing skills (Defensive Impact and Offensive Impact at good levels)

Toppin -

Floor: 7.5

Offense - 8.5

Defense - 5.5

Ceiling: 8.5

Offense - 9.5

Defense - 6

Fit: 8* I have him in the 2nd unit with Jeff. With Trae, his fit is a 9.5 like John's. With Trae, his floor is a 8 and ceiling is a 9

Swing Skills: Shooting, Playmaking, and Defensive Playmaking

Amar'e Stoudemire and Chris Webber with Joakim Noah's defensive brain but Kyle Kuzma defensive movements in his place.

As Prospects:

Amar'e - 6/8 + one swing skill. - Mid Range Shooting (era)

C. Webb - 7.5/8.5 + two swing skills. Mid Range Shooting (era) + Playmaking

Kuzma - 6.5/7.5 + one swing skill. Shooting

Deni Avdija

Floor: 7

Ceiling: 8

Fit: 8.5

Swing Skills: Shooting and Defensive versatility

Comparison: Toni Kukoc with better defense but less shooting

As Prospects:

Kukoc - 5.5/7 + one swing skill (Shooting for that era)

Hayes

Floor: 7.5

Ceiling: 8

Fit: 9

Swing Skills: Shooting

Comparison: Billups, D. Russell

As Prospects:

Billups- 6.5/8 + one swing skill. - Shooting (era)

Russell - 7/8.5 + no swing skill.

No one received a +.5 for fit this year like Cam did last year for us and Clarke did for Memphis.

Swing Skills are worth .5 points which is significant.

Perfect example is John Collins. He was a 6.5/7.5 prospect. His fit with Trae bumped him up to 8 ceiling. He is extremely close to 8.5 if not there already as he has improved his shooting which was a swing skill as a prospect. His production is one of a 8.5 but his impact this year has dropped a bit but he's close which is all that matters.

Sarunas Marciulionis the way he drives hard to the hole. I realize Sarunas was a 6’5 off guard but he drives harder than Kukoc did for sure.

I was listening to NBA radio earlier today and Fran Frachilla was trying to compare or somewhat compare LaMelo Ball to Magic Johnson as far as passing and court vision. I’ve heard Penny/white chocolate comparisons but Magic is on a different level type comparison.

If LaMelo is 1/3 of the prospect Magic was and we get a top 3 pick, we might need to take him.

Can we run Trae and LaMelo in a 2 PG starting backcourt?

In this case it would be Isiah (Trae) teaming up with Magic (LaMelo) not just kissing 😘 him at mid court 😆.

Would this work?

Trae/Dunn

Lamelo/Huerter

Cam/Hunter

Collins/Trez

Capela/Ded
