Popular Post Gray Mule
Less than 2 hours and it's here. Hawk's GM is at his desk with a sign - "Open for business!" Question: Will Atlanta be a buyer or a seller? Hint: They have released - waived one player which means that they have one open roster spot. Might become handy if someone waives a player we like. Or, Hawks have some high priced, little used vets on expiring contracts if someone is looking for tax relief next season. And, the Atlanta team may have another vet or three that they would trade, IF THE PRICE IS RIGHT! What do you have? What do we have that you want? Anyone want to make a deal? Make us an offer and we'll see what happens !! 3

Popular Post REHawksFan
My guess.................crickets. I'm not sure any team would want the things the Hawks are willing to give up. And I'm not sure the Hawks would give up anything other teams would want. So where's the deal? Any deal that is made likely won't move the meter imo. Certainly can't imagine any deal that has a substantive impact on the team's record this year. But here's to hoping.
Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted December 15, 2019 Premium Member Report Share Posted December 15, 2019 How many deals actually occur at this time of the year though? I get the 40 players sogned in the offense can now be traded, but it's caused a lot of unwarranted speculation regarding trades. Just my 2 cents.

One of them was on Dec. 18, 2014, when the Celtics traded Rajon Rondo and rookie Dwight Powell to the Mavericks for Jameer Nelson, Jae Crowder, a pair of picks, and a $12.9 million trade exception.
Moderators macdaddy Posted December 16, 2019 Moderators Report Share Posted December 16, 2019 I think Hawks will make some trades the next couple of months but none will be of the variety of acquiring vets who will make a difference this season.
txsting
I think DeRozan could be had for the Nets pick and expiring contracts. But at this point, I'd hate to play our way out of a high draft pick. This season is shot.

I have no problem with your assessment but do you want to spend draft picks and about 25 million a year for a young big talent?

I'm not sure who you are referring to but my only issue is the belief that Dedmon in particular would be a difference maker for the Hawks this season. i just don't see it. We let him go because we didn't think he was worth the money that Sac gave him (which i'm sure they are regretting). That evaluation of his worth doesn't change just because the Hawks suck right?
Gray Mule
WAITING FOR THE PRICES TO DROP! Right now, everything is at full price. Hawks are waiting. Near the trade deadline, prices will drop. If we still have no sales, then the clearance rack will open! That desired center? One offer was either Hunter or Collins and a draft pick. Our answer? No way! But, there are deals out there. Just, way out of reach. Maybe the prices will drop. We will simply wait and see. No drop - - No sale.

I mean besides Will Ferrell and Lil Wayne.

Gray Mule
Wild idea from SICOM. The Minnesota Timberwolves are, like the Hawks, in last place in their division. They have a long losing streak. They have, apparently, exactly what the Hawks need. Karl-Anthony Towns, a 24 year old all star type center. Their thinking? Hawks might be able to pry him away with a couple of 1st. round picks and extra. Does anyone believe that this might be possible? Something to ponder.....
