The Atlanta Hawks hosted the Detroit Pistons in the second game of a weekend back-to-back after ending their 22-year winless drought in San Antonio on Friday night. Jeff Teague made his return to Atlanta as he and Treveon Graham were both available to play after the Thursday afternoon trade with Minnesota.

Young kicked off the scoring for Atlanta with a three, a shot that was followed by a 12-2 run from Detroit.

The Pistons used another 12-2 run to extend their lead to 12 under the five minute mark in the first. Derrick Rose and Andre Drummond controlled the game early on, with 16 combined points in the first six minutes of play.

Teague’s first basket back in Atlanta cut the Pistons lead back to four towards the end of the opening period.

Detroit closed the quarter strong, ending up with 36 points and a seven-point lead heading to the second.

The Pistons held their lead well into the second quarter, matching baskets with the Hawks as they attempted to claw back towards the lead.

A 13-2 sequence left Detroit up 56-41 with 5:33 left before half. The run swelled all the way to 20-6 as the visitors led by 20 inside the four-minute mark in the second.

The Hawks tried to battle back but ultimately trailed 71-55 at the break, with the signs of the sub-24-hour back-to-back heavily evident.

Teague had seven points, five assists and three rebounds across 12 first half minutes in his return. De’Andre Hunter had 13 points and four rebounds at the break.

Rose and Svi Mykhailiuk led Detroit scorers with 12 points each in the first half, with Drummond adding 9 points and seven rebounds.

The Hawks were unable to mount much of a comeback effort in the third, with the Pistons going on an 11-4 run out of the locker room to take a 23-point lead. Detroit kept the throttle down from there, leading by as many as 28 in the quarter.

Detroit led 103-76 heading to the fourth, with Atlanta seemingly out of gas after the big win last night in Texas. They were outscored 32-21 by the Pistons in the third quarter, killing any shot they had at a comeback down the stretch.

The guests bridged another 13-2 run between the end of the third and the opening moments of the fourth, making the score 112-78, ultimately putting the game out of reach for good.

Rose led the way for the Pistons with 27 points and nine assists. Drummond finished with 16 points, 17 rebounds and five steals. Mykhailiu had 25 points off the bench on 9-of-11 from the floor (5-for-7 from three).

Collins led Atlanta scorers with 20 points to go along with five rebounds, while Young finished with 16 points, nine rebounds and seven assists. Teague finished with 15 points, seven assists, three steals, one rebound and one block.

The Hawks will be back in action Monday afternoon at 2:30 PM EST when they host the Toronto Raptors on MLK Day.
