Hope that isn't the case because I'd like the team to get to see him as he has some interesting tools and has been fairly productive despite his raw skill set and lack of raw strength / weight down low.  If that is how it comes out, then we just end up picking up $1M.

He is out indefinitely with a knee injury, though.  Supposed to get an update on that.

He does well in spurts. Nice lil jump hook but I think consistency is his main issue.

If Len could resurrect his career here, Skal definitely has the tools to do the same. I remember when he was projected to be a lottery pick back at Kentucky. It'll be interesting to see what the staff can do with him.

He was supposed to be reevaluated in four weeks from Jan 2-4. He should be getting looked at this week. We will see where he is.

His Portland numbers are noticeably better than his Sacramento numbers.

I think I'm seeing a pattern here.

Fwiw, about a month into the season, there was actually a Blazers blogger endorsing Skal as starting center over Whiteside.

From what im seeing everyone is alot higher on Skal than most lower tier guys that was traded this week.  A few people even said once he gets healthy that they would take him over dedmon and he should get more minutes of the 2.  If Skal is better than dedmon and we got him for pretty much free thats thievery from schlenk.   I've never watched skal play that i can remember for some reason so im just taking what other fans are taking at face value. But alot of people seem to like the kid and what he brings to the table.

Man.  The delusion is great in this thread. Skal is your typical overhyped, underdeveloped AAU product.  You will be very lucky if he ever becomes a positive contributor off the bench as a 4th big.

Skal has a high ceiling. If you look at his advanced metrics in Portland it really leaps out especially for a  young big. 

I would love to get him healthy and get him some serious minutes at backup PF/C to see what he can do.

I wouldn't say it's in this thread all the hype and bragging i seen about him was from fans of other teams that liked him quite a bit.  As i said i've never seen him play and i wanted to see what other teams fans think about him over our fans on here since were hawks fans and we usually pump up guys were excited about.   But if were being honest we could sign lebron or giannis and you would still hate on it in 1 way or another

Except that he wasn't the 4th big in Portland. And except that if one actually stares at the numbers for a minute, there is definitely evidence of an upward trajectory.

But I get it. Some people enjoy being the resident cynic. And that's just as okay as it is to enjoy being the resident optimist. Most of us prefer to be less predictable, more in the middle. It's more fun that way.

He has a positive WAR this year.  He isn't a star.  But he could be a part of a good rotation if he continues to improve.  I'm not advocating for him over Dedmon without a ton of development which is unlikely this year.

He is clearly playing the 4 with VC and Carter for us. Can't wait to see him. He's been grinding and has really developed in the last couple of years.
