Millsap has fallen off considerably since he was last in Atlanta and is a definite risk going into his age 35 season next year.  That said, he is way better defensively than any big we've had since he left and would offer a more fundamentally sound game than John has developed to date.  And way better than Parker given the gap on their defense.  It would be foolish to switch to a 35 year old instead of your rising 22 year old but given that Sap is becoming a role player (24 mpg this season) I could see a scenario where he comes in to upgrade our frontcourt. I just don't think that is what TS is looking for given his age.

(As an aside, note that Collins' WAR is of course much worse this season since he has missed 26 games so far.)

Millsap is a waste of time to me. Besides, Denver wants him back for a discount. We need guys in the prime of their careers. No stop gaps as I see them.

I’m kind of confused as to your stance here Supes. You seem like you are happy with our youth and want to give them a lot of burn, but at the same time you are saying you don’t want stop gap vets for us. Do you want us to sign or trade for players to start ahead of the young guys?

I think we have our main pieces in play. We just need vets who know they are NON STARTERS but have certain roles they excel in and are specialists at what they do.

Vince was great for us for a couple of years as far as leading our youth by example. I think that honeymoon period is starting to end. We now need vets who can play consistently at a high level, preferably not super old guys or super young but somewhere in between.

Sounds good and easy in theory....but which Superstar/Elite Level Player is actually AVAILABLE and worth 2 1sts -  our 2020 1st, a Future 1st plus one of Huerter/Cam/Hunter?

Wing players who might be available based on the Trade deadline rumors - Bradley Beal, Aaron Gordon, Kelly Oubre, CJ McCollum - guys of that ilk. They don't scream Elite Level player to me. Maybe I'm missing someone.

Then you have the Embiids, KATs and Simmons but less likely available.

So who would you target with your plan???

You only offered 1 of huerter cam and hunter im willing to offer 2 of those guys if need be lol.  But theirs alot of time between now and the 2021 offseason. So im biding my time to see if anyone comes available that we could use as a SG or SF.    Embidd and Kat are intriging and i still might look at them but if they do come then 1 of Collins or Capela have to be in the deal going back i would guess and us keeping a 1st or 1 of the players.  At the very least i would make it known im willing to offer a big package for a player and see if any team is interested in moving someone big name if what they have isn't working right now for them.  If we don't succeed then meh we tried our best to get one struck out and then we go into 2021 with all that cap and do the best we can to try and talk 2 or 3 max players into teaming up here.

That's too generic for me.

I don't think what he is saying is unfair.  We have seen guys come available in trades but you don't necessarily know who will be available in the summer in February.  He is saying that he would package our pick, a young player and some combination of other picks and players for an elite addition to the roster.  Whether any elite option becomes available is not known.  If it doesn't, you have to have your backup plan.  But saying that giving away some of these young assets for an elite option (rather than say keeping all the young guys and trying to sign an elite FA) is option #1 is probably all you can say at this time.  When the next James Harden, Anthony Davis, Jimmy Butler, Kawhi Leonard, Paul George, etc. option becomes available is something none of us an say with any certainty.

Torrey Craig.

@NBASupes Zach Lowe agrees with you.

7. Crashin' Torrey Craig

Craig does all the dirty work. He can defend four positions, and works like hell on the glass -- on both ends of the floor.

Half-ass it with some flat-footed faux box-out, and Craig will zip around you for offensive rebounds:

He is liable to fly in from beyond the arc if he sees a crease. Craig snags many more offensive rebounds than expected based on his positioning when shots go up, per Second Spectrum data.

Craig has filled in as a starter in 15 of Denver's past 16 games, and the Nuggets are 11-5 in that stretch. He started Denver's final 11 playoff games last season, and his defense on Damian Lillard was a key factor in the Nuggets stretching their second-round series against Portland to seven games.

Craig hit 17-of-36 (47%) from deep in those playoffs, way above his career mark of 32%. Shooting holds Craig back. Opponents ignore him to muck up Denver's spacing; its offense is worse with Craig on the floor.

But the postseason is a small sample size. A few more makes than usual, and Craig becomes a net plus. He looms as a potentially important role player against the biggest and strongest wings in the West: Leonard, George, LeBron, maybe Harden. The Gary Harris-Will Barton duo is undersized against that type. Harris has struggled horribly on offense.

The Nuggets have sometimes used Jerami Grant on Leonard and James, even if it requires playing Grant, Paul Millsap, and Nikola Jokic together. Denver could also try Michael Porter Jr.; he's shooting 43% from deep, and is big enough to jostle with physical wings -- or opposing power forwards if Michael Malone prefers Millsap or Grant guarding LeBron/Kawhi types.

Porter has logged only 556 career minutes. Will Malone trust Porter's defense in the playoffs?

He trusts Craig, perhaps more than he should given Craig's limitations as a shooter. But Craig has earned that trust, and he might get his chance at some key postseason moments.

The big names are not coming here but we need to target the guys who will flourish with a change of scenery like Milsap did when he came here

Exactly and I think it’s possible! If we land Trez this summer then that would be considered a top free agent signing for this upcoming free agency class.

this Upcoming free agency class is one the hawks can actually win or come out on top of and maybe that’s the mindset the front office has.
