Love Giannis but I’m seeing him exposed in certain ways in this restart. Not enough to say we shouldn’t pursue him , just saying.

Put some great shooters and defenders around Trae, and we wont need Giannis. Id still pursue him too though. lol

Ummm Giannis and Trae would nearly be unstoppable. You go get an MVP talent if it's available. No questions asked.

The entire "BAY" is it's own identity, San Jose which is the South Bay is like an hour away in traffic from SF and Oak, but 45 mins in reality. But culturally they all rep hard for North Cali,

I would definitely compare it to NY though and the different boroughs, and how Staten Island or even north Jersey for that matter all are apart of NY culture despite not even connected.

Atlanta metro reminds me of LA County, Most people dont differentiate but places like Inglewood, Long Beach, Pasadena, etc... are all considered LA culturally, despite being different cities, however they are all in LA County. Same with Atlanta, Decatur, College Park, Marietta, Dunwoody/Sandy Springs, up to even Roswell/Alpahretta, etc...

When you compare it to NY, though, you are comparing 8M vs 23M.  They just aren't in the same ballpark.  Chicago is 10M for perspective.  I haven't seen a big push in any sport for athletes to go to the bay as a premium location other than 1980's Niners.  That was like GS being a draw during this era.  It is about the team much more so than the city.  No one flocks there because of "The Bay"  like they do to NY or LA.

All these stars get 'exposed' when they are trying to win 'by themselves'. Team them up with a player close to or equal to their level of play and suddenly you see less warts. Just the way the NBA works.

Prime example: Anthony Davis, years toiling as the man in NOP, now he gets to team up with LBJ and hus burden is lessened.

Bring on the Freak to play with Trae, warts and all.

If Travis is serious about pursuing Giannis, something shrewd he could do is go after free agents this summer to force the hand of other teams planning to make a serious play for Giannis next summer.

For example: we know Riley is planning on bringing him to Miami for another big 3. We could determine what 2+ year contract for a player like Dragic or Jones Jr. would prevent them from having max money next summer, and offer that to them (if they go into the year with a gutted roster to have max money, do you think he'd want to join a losing team?).

Not a traditional way of doing things. But traditionally, Hawks don't get superstars to sign so trying to think outside the box.

Davis still looks soft and is inconsistent.  The Lakers have the worst offense in the bubble and are at risk to lose in the 1st round of the playoffs vs Portland.

Danny Green shouldnt even be in the NBA, much less in the Lakers starting lineup. You can almost say the same for Javele McGee....Lakers arent deep at all...And they have no shooters...IF LBJ wins it this year, itll be his greatest accomplishment imo...

Really?...Davis is no where near inconsistent and is widely considered the NBAs best defensive big among players as well as Giannis.

lebron is actually shooting worse than Davis so far in the bubble but I wouldn’t read so much into the Lakers not playing as well as a whole right now. These last few games before the playoffs start means nothing for them so the effort is likely not fully there.

Huh? Why shouldn’t green be in the nba??? He’s a 3pt specialist who’s always been a good defender everywhere he’s went damn near. In fact McGee and Howard who helps make up this large front court the lakers have has both been studs all season long offensively and defensively at the rim. Lakers haven’t shot the ball well from 3 all season long as a team and they don’t take many 3s in terms of avg per game like many other teams do but they have a great tendency of sticking with their strengths! what they have that other teams don’t is a massively large and today uncommon very good front court rotation that teams can’t handle!

Davis, Lebron, Kuzma, McGee, Howard has been manning down the paint all season long offensively and defensively.

Just like the bucks, lakers are the absolute best when it comes to scoring in the paint and defending it. Bucks of course has more shooters but when playoff time starts historically mid range and post play is majority of the time  always a better strategy to advance in the playoffs than 3s are even in this era despite some of those Golden State championship years that has everyone wanting to launch 50-60 threes per game and people can’t seem to wake up and realize that golden state has two hall of famer 3pt shooters both being great with the ball in their hands and off ball.

Take the rockets for example...I’m still not convinced they are getting past the first rd despite having a winning record vs good teams in both conferences since the trade deadline. One they rely heavily and in my opinion stupidly too much on the 3 ball but they’ve made it known that they are ok living or dying by the 3 ball but the other huge issue with this team is actually  Harden! Dude  is the complete opposite in the playoffs and all his numbers go down in the playoffs (look it up not hard to find)...yet he wants to claim he’s up there with the greatest scorers to ever play...yeah ok 🙄...how many playoffs he need to even be his regular season self???

Back to the Lakers ....they are deep when you look at the front court...I’m not trying to change your opinion or argue with you but I’m just throwing out some facts based on the Lakers having the 2nd best record in the nba and based on where they are ranked as a team in certain categories....so a few facts: this is Lebrons best defensive team he’s been on since Miami and this is the first time in 4 seasons lebron himself  defensively is looking like a actual good defender. However you’re right it’s not his best shooting team at all but it is one of his best if not best 2pt teams and one of the best all around defensive teams he’s been on. Those cavs teams that went to finals were horrible in defense in most years but the east couldn’t keep up with the scoring of lebron and kyrie. They didn’t defend they just out scored every one. Anyways I wouldn’t be shocked if the lakers won it all purely due to having more size and length than majority teams in the nba.

Best big man rotations are on the 1 seeds bucks and lakers , yet most teams in the league still want to play this small ball bullshit.

personally while I don’t think you need as much front court depth the lakers and bucks have particularly talking big man depth here...I do think all teams need good depth in the front court say like the raptors. Raptors are built to where they can handle any type of lineup big or small thrown at them (warriors were like this too when they had bogut/zaza)...this  is what I hope the hawks pursue. We are close now that we have capela and Collins...hopefully Bruno pans out and dedmon gets back to his old self and that will be a big help in winning games next season.

LBJ needs spacing on offense though..HOward or McGee cant help that..And IM talking about their perimeter defense..It sucks..ESpecially without Bradley..
