Wiseman is the safest pick. At the very least he's Clint Capela, but he could be David Robinson.

Perhaps hes the guy we're trading up for and not Edwards? lol

No. 6 — Atlanta Hawks: Tyrese Haliburton, G, Iowa State

Last season, general manager Travis Schlenk decided that Evan Turner was going to be the Hawks’ backup point guard, and that absolutely failed. And after the Hawks realized that, they traded for Jeff Teague from Minnesota. That also failed. So they still need to figure out who’s going to be Trae Young’s backup. Halliburton not only can back up Young, but he also can play alongside him at the two guard. So the Hawks get someone who shot over 40 percent both seasons at Iowa State and was a very good team defender. That’s something the Hawks, who gave up 119 points per game last season, need more of. Halliburton checks many boxes. — Chris Kirschner

Since this is the draft Forum....

Why not Nesmith?

Not good enough to be worth the 6th pick.  Too limited.  If we trade down, I suspect he will be on our board.

Agreed.  Guys a specialist.  I also think his shooting percentage is way inflated since he missed most of his season.

Limited.  This is Klay Thompson  pt 2.  He has a great looking shot.  He has very good size.   Especially if we play him at SG.  I agree that he's a spot up shooter.. but... he hits most of them.  Plus.. he plays good defense on ball.

Spoiler

I don't know if I agree with the inflation.  From what I could ascertain, he played big in big moments and hit most of his shots from outside.

He's a spot up shooter but 3 and D guys are what this league runs on.

He basically played their crap out of conference schedule only last year.

He's a good shooter but not worth a lotto pick imho.  People point to 50 or 51% or whatever from 3 and have overrated him massively.

For my money, Cam Johnson last draft is a far superior player.  Jmho.

Comparing him to Klay is disrespectful especially considering this kid doesn't play defense.

Sam Mitchell and Seth Greenberg on nbaradio draft special today.  Broke down the Kutcher pro day.  Here are a few notes.

Disclaimer:  You all know how I feel about Edwards.  I promise I'm just relaying what these dudes said.  That said, Edwards fans,, when I get to the edwards stuff ..... earmuffs.

First on Wiseman though.  Sam recruited him while on staff at MEM so he saw most of his games.  Loves him, thinks he's best in the draft.

- On his poor stats at times, said he saw a bunch of 18+ rebound games but he'd have 14 pys on 7 dunks.  He'd tell the coach, "why you got this fat kid shooting 30 shots but nobody's passing the ball to the #1 pick in the draft?!"

Ok on the pro day.

- Maxey showed up ready.  Had a smile on his face, looked explosive, joyful playing the game.

- Agents say he works out every morning.  Worked out prior to the pro day, loves the game.

- On Edwards, *sigh*, "If you're the agent, why would you let him work out if you know he's outta shape?"

- "If I was the agent, I would've canceled and made up another reason." - Mitchell

- Greenberg: He's obviously athletic, specimen.  Hit a lotta shots vs michst which everyone points to, but does he impact winning?

Folks say Harden, Wade, etc but the great ones have a PhD in basketball.  That's why they're great.  They get lost in the game..  They eat, sleep, drink basketball (and know the game).  [Implied he doesn't see that in edwards.]

Each thought Vassell is a guy who'll play a key role defensively.  Weren't concerned about the video of his funk'd up shot.

I'll agree that Nesmith has a great shot. More importantly, he's got great mechanics which would suggest great shooting will carry forward.

I'd probably trade Huerter for the rights to draft him. Other than that I don't see the point in adding him when we've got Cam and Kev. If we're just sitting at #6, we should be thinking any other position but SG.

Kevin is a better overall player tho.  Not even close.

I know Greenberg is not high on Edwards, he says he is more of an athlete than a basketball player. Greenberg always prefers smart, heady players.

If he is KT2.0 then he is worth the #1 overall pick in this draft.  I don't expect him to reach that projection.
