You can always get the bootleg streams online. It's a pain though, and they lag at the worst time.

Since it was mentioned, ESPN+ is garbage.  We got the bundled Hulu, Disney and ESPN+ and it never has sports I care about on there.  Had been excited about that but it is basically just Hulu and Disney bundled.

On Thursday I'm going to start a free trial of the At&t streaming service on Roku.  They supposedly still have FSS but it's $80/month.   And i'll try the League Pass/VPN route to see if it works.   If that works i'll probably go there vs $80/month.

ESPN+ does not even let you watch Sports Center. It's like a random sampling of sports content you may or may not care about.

For me, it is definitely a random sampling of sports content I do not care about.

And then constantly advertise ESPN+. Who exactly are they trying to reach? It's ESPN, except you can't watch any of the major sporting events (NBA, NFL,etc). Ummm, ok.

I am hoping that there's a last minute agreement to get the regionals back on youtube, hulu, etc.  There's too much opportunity for eyeballs with covid restrictions for them not to agree on some $ amount.  If they can't agree, then it's like the networks and the tv providers basically saying the fans can stay home and suck it.  I hope they don't want the bad pr.

This seems a little different this time but i think if they do work it out it will mean that we have to add a sports package and we'll be up to $85/month.   Which of course i'll do but the dream of cheap customizable tv with only the channels you want is just bs and we're all back to an expensive cable package with 100 channels we never watch.

The article suggested they are stiffing streamers and are going for a direct to consumer model (not sure how that will work or cost). Sinclair could probably make more money that way, but I wonder if the NBA is on board, They want more eyeballs, not less.

So I chatted with AT&T Now people on their website.  They offered me $10 off a month for a year for the max package making the total $70 a month.  That's only $5 dollars more than I was paying for YoutubeTV with HBO max included so, all in all, not bad.  Now I can rest easy and watch some Hawks tonight. 

 

I suggest anyone thinking of signing up or if you already have, open that chat box on AT&T Now's website and ask.  Cant hurt to try!
