I don't know if babying players really helps. Look at baseball, they absolutely baby the pitchers now, and it hasn't really reduced arm/shoulder injuries. It's not an apples to apples comparison of course.

Part of it is the way pitchers are deployed has radically changed.  Guys throw much harder today.  Lots of guys throwing in the mid to upper 90’s.  Guys weren’t doing that regularly in the 80’s.  A bit of apples to oranges even within baseball.  Not saying there isn’t too much caution being used but just that other factors have changed as well.

So nothing this week except practice, and maybe a cameo appearance next week sometime, no real minutes until the week after that.

Just trying to translate Hawks injury talk.

A cameo appearance would be so much nicer than "Out."  Hopefully, this will be greater time than what our 2 way center has been getting - - one minute, in and out.

Good luck with that...I know my universal translator is broken. 😁

We have a great, back up center.  A rookie that no one has laid eyes on.  Yet, we are assured by those that know stuff, he does exist.

Hawks have gone from "A pretty decent NBA team to what we see now.  Injuries have rocked this team right down to it's core.  And, instead of improving, it just gets worse.  Bogo is out now with a twisted knee.

Seems that all the new Hawks who were added after last season have felt this injury bug.  Then, if that were not enough, Trae hits a terrible slump.  He can't find, borrow or steal a three point shot.  They refuse to fall.

Someone rightfully said, "Hunter is our best player right now."  Dang, what a dust storm that stirred up.  The key to this statement is the words "right now."  That means in the last game or two.  Not for the season or two or three.  And, with all that, he's still far from perfect.

All these rookies in the NBA making hay.  Having their name linked, with good reason, to rookie of the year.

We see, posted right here on the Squawk, that our own agent 0017 is listed as probable for our next game!  How exciting.  Gves Hawk fans a reason to "set up late tonight" just for the opportunity to catch a peak at our very own #6 draft pick.  Wow!

Starting center, Capela, is listed with an injury that may keep him out.  Now, not such a terrible blow as we now expect to have three back up centers available.  Bruno, Nathan and agent 0017..

GO ATL HAWKS !!

SMH . . . LP setting the kid up for failure already.

How is him saying he didn't want to throw OO in against Embiid for his first game setting him up for failure?

It is silly to play Okongwu in a game vs one of the best centers in the league.  That is completely setting the guy up for failure.

Rudy Gobert will be tough, but he won't be under the gun to stop the guy defensively like he would be against Embiid.

To me, Okongwu is a 4.  Knight is a 4.  Bruno is a 5.

If Onyeka is "Baby Bam", we should be developing him to be a 4 that can play spot minutes at the 5, instead of strictly slotting him in as a 5.  But the problem with LP's offense, is that his 4's must be able to shoot, even if they can't defend worth a damn.  LP would rather play undersized guys at the 4 who have a threat at making a 3, than regular sized 4's who may be stronger defensively, but less on offense.

Okongwu is 6-8 officially, per NBA.com

Bruno is a muscular/physical type player that can and will body up centers his size or bigger at the 5.

Okongwu is a more lean athletic and faster player that is good enough to guard guys at the 4 and smaller 5s

From a defensive standpoint, I'd love for Okongwu to be the guy that gives great weak side defense, than to be stationed around the rim vs dudes taller and heavier than he is.
