Yeah it's bs.  And honestly Steve Hummer and most of the old guys at ajc know so little about the nba.   Most of them are gone now but they were well known to watch one game, usually against the lakers, and then come out with some bs article based on other things they had read.

I hope somehow we can keep Trae here in Atlanta.   We sure do suck at getting behind our guys though.

Trae needs to get this team into the playoffs and then he will get the benefit of the doubt.  He has the opposite of that today - they go against him when it is remotely arguable.  Really hate that he missed some good shots and some bad shots down the stretch as we had that terrible loss last night.  Reinforces the bias against him (while every bad Boston loss does nothing to take the shine off any Celtic).

The Celtics long-time announcer Gorman ripped into Tatum and Brown pretty well a few days ago.  Well deserved too as they both have slacked off defensively and have the shot selection and passing vision/ willingness of an AAU player.  He even went so far as to suggest they’re kinda playing for AS bonuses, which are in some NBA players contracts for some ridiculous  reason.

Our Steve Holman usually calls it like he sees it but even he wouldnt have been bleeped twice on a radio show lol.  That man hated him some Dennis tho.

Ya'll see this:

I mean, it's one thing to have to deal with this from the national media, but really AJC?  We have an entire sports world that is overlooking our star player and have been downplaying his achievements, do we really need our local media to kick salt in his wound?

Yeah, this is pretty *****ty.  I've seen a number of articles form the national media highlighting him as the biggest snub in either conference.  It isn't good to get that from the hometown paper.

Examples:

Quote

Strictly looking at the numbers, it's difficult to rationalize keeping Young off the team. The guy is averaging 27.9 points, 4.1 rebounds and 9.9 assists per 36 minutes on 60.8 percent true shooting, and opponents can't keep him off the free-throw line.

Quote

This is a bit of a surprise with Philadelphia 76ers PG Ben Simmons making the roster over Young, who is among the top scorers in the NBA. Right now, Young ranks 8th in the League with 26.9 points per game. He’s nearly averaging a double-double with 9.5 assists per game. The Hawks have underachieved a bit after a busy offseason and are 13-17, outside the playoff picture. That isn’t really Young’s fault since the team has endured a ton of injuries early on to Bogdan Bogdanovic and De’Andre Hunter.

Quote

2021-2022 season: 26.9 pts, 3.9 reb, 9.5 ast Though he was named an All-Star last season, Trae Young missed the mark this season. The stats? They're there. The fan affair? There. But Trae didn't receive enough love from his fellow players, ranking 11th in player voting for the guards. The media gifted the likes of Zach LaVine and Ben Simmons guard reserve spots over Young, which though deserving, Young is everything to Atlanta. Without Young, the Hawks are lost.

Young certainly has a gripe after being omitted

Young is the centerpiece of the Hawks, leading the team in both scoring (26.9 points per game) and assists (9.5 per game) this season. While Atlanta’s 13-17 record is not quite what was projected, the team has been plagued by injuries through the first 30 games, and the Hawks are notably better when Young plays than when he is on the bench.

In 974 minutes with Young on the floor, the Hawks out-score their opponents by 2.2 points per possessions, including a lights-out 115.1 offensive rating. When Young is resting, the Hawks are out-scored by 6.5 points per 100 possessions, headlined by a massive dip in the team’s offensive efficiency.

Individually, Young’s counting statistics are obviously impressive, with a top-10 scoring mark and an assist total that ranks near the top of the league. From there, Young is also hyper efficient, shooting 44 percent from the field, 38 percent from three, and 88.5 percent from the line while averaging more than 10 attempts per game. That free throw prowess, combined with a recent hot streak from long distance, leads Young to a career-best 60.8 percent true shooting mark, which is tremendous in any context and doubly impressive when considering his lofty usage.

Young is also making strides as a defensive player, making the best impact he has made through three seasons. That uptick, combined with his tremendous offensive efficiency and Atlanta’s overall team improvement, leads to improved catch-all metrics — Young is a top-20 player in FiveThirtyEight’s RAPTOR metric, for example — and one could argue he is playing better basketball in 2020-21 than he was last season, despite this snub.

It is worth noting that Young could be added to the All-Star team as an injury replacement at a later date, and he would be a logical candidate, both given his performance level and his proximity to the host site of State Farm Arena. For now, though, the Hawks do not have a player scheduled to participate in an All-Star Game that will occur in their own backyard, and Young certainly has a gripe after being omitted.

Not to wish any bad luck, but hey, if Sabonis snuck in due to someone declining to play, maybe Trae can too?

Reminds me. Been saying this for years now. Time to haul it out of the attic of my brain...

There are three divisions in each conference, right?

So set it up this way.

ASG participants should be elected/selected on a division basis.

Game day, for each of the three quarters, it's Western Division A vs. Eastern Division X.... B vs. Y... C vx. Z.

And in the final quarter, the head coach is free to play whoever he wants.

Automatically makes the game more interesting. And each quarter becomes its own contest, and players are more likely to play for the pride of winning their quarter. Then that, in turn, also serves to fuel desire to win the game in the 4th--your brothers having been working so hard to win their individual quarters.

And, circling back to the original thought, while there will always be the perception of snubs no matter what number you put on it--people will always compare this player to that player and say, "why not?"--I believe snubs like what has happened for Trae (for now) really are egregious. That shouldn't happen.

The reason for this is because trea was expected be to be way better than he's been, add in the attitude and foul stuff and here we have it a lot of the nba was pulling for trea the way he can shoot etc.  Srsly trade him do y'all even watch the games , he is not this superstar he's made out to be in ATL he just isn't. this is worse than ppl saying matt ryan is the cause of falcons problems
