Who would you like to see as the next head coach of the Atlanta Hawks?

Not sure why we are having such a hard time understanding something that is quite clear. Here I’ll spell it out.

LLOYD WAS NO GOOD AS A HEAD COACH. @kg01 you have to separate your crush on dude vs his head coaching skills. He wasn’t ready to be a head coach but more than that he’s not nor will ever be head coaching material. His monotone voice, one dimensional game planning and limited coaching skills won’t allow him to ever be a head coach.

There, no sugar coating it. Clearer?

We just saw how our locker room responded to CLP's tough love, how do you think they would take to this? They would not being able to handle it.

LP didn't have the cred for that.Players don't want to hear that BS from LP..lol..GP is a HOF player..They're more likely to listen. Not advocating for him...Just sayin..

Granted that McMillan almost certainly will have a leg-up if the balance of the season justifies it...

I have three on my short list.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Jackson

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Avery_Johnson

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Jeff_Hornacek

There is almost never a perfect candidate just like there is almost never a perfect head coach.

But even setting aside whatever record any of those already achieved in the league (...let's remember, please, there's more that goes into wins and losses than just the coaching element... ie, what talent the GM gives you, and how those players develop individually and as a group)...

I've always been impressed with the intelligence and temperament of each of those guys. Jackson's probably a non-candidate because of image issues in the current culture. Avery's not as popular these days given that his 4-year roll with the Tide was unimpressive. And Hornacek has not even yet taken an NBA team to the playoffs.

But I just think all three of those guys have the essentials/fundamentals that predict, given another shot with the right team, any one of them would prove to have been excellent choice.

As a funny aside, I noticed some folks throwing Juwon Howard's name out as a potential pick.  I imagine his actions in UM's win today may have eliminated him from several Hawks' players lists. 😆

(That's Heurter and Bruno's former coach he's beefin' with.)
