Official Game Thread: Hawks at Lakers (3:30 PM Tip Time!)

I want all the Wins in our playoff hopeful bucket - don't care who they come against or who's missing from what team.  When other teams were winning against us with missing guys NO ONE CARED - they still got their win.

Can't believe we're on an 8 game winning streak and #4 in the east....

• Very solid defense tonight -- couple lapses in the first half but we were super locked in all game
• Collins efficiency and hustle getting boards/second chances has been invaluable.  Happy that I might eating crow on some of my Collins takes
• Trae only had 14 and didn't make a 3 all night and we still won on the back of engaged defense.  I remember when we got blown out if he didn't score 25+
• Nate's rotations were on point all game.  He kept fresh guys in there spreading minutes between Snell/Solo/Collins/Gallo really well
• Heurter 3/11 wit only 8 points but +5 on the night.  His defense has been solid
• Still can't wait to get Hunter back in there, feels like he will be such an upgrade to Solo/Snell.

Great start to the road trip.  If we can come home 4-4 or better, we are going to be in great shape to avoid the play-ins.

You know the answer to this.  People have been looking forward to seeing us against quality competition and this was expected to be a stiff challenge.  This was a bottom dweller game.

As noted above, Hawks can’t control the schedule.  Got to beat the opposition.  We did and that is the best outcome.

It ok to actually acknowledge the quality of the opponent. It doesn't negate the win or the effort given by the guys.

How?  He only had a bad shooting game.

 

He had 11 assists to only 2 turnovers ( 5.5 a/to ratio )

He played decent defense ( Schröder had 16 points on 4 - 15 shooting )

And he was ( +13 ) for the game.

 

He was 0 - 7 from 3.  It happens.  He tried to blow the game open with his 3 point shooting, which he has done as recently as the OKC game.

Outside of that, he played a very good floor game, and probably should've had 15 assists.

Yeah, Trae will probably never be able to boxscore all his potential assists but we know how much impact he has for us..

A number of Hawks struggled shooting tonight and one player had "flu like symptoms". Wondering if its the result of them getting their vaccinations. Lots of people get a little wobbley.

Crazy that was just 2 - 3 weeks ago, it was complete doom and gloom.

All this - Trae had a bad shooting game from 3, that's it! - The rest of his game was on point.

I see a lot of complaining about the offense, but name one early game the Hawks have played well in.  However, what did show up, even with LeBron was the Hawks defense.  For them to play this well missing our best wing defenders is very encouraging. 

Trae - Played exactly like he did the previous game except he didn't hit two threes.  He only had 2 turnovers.  This Lakers team normally causes his to have 5 to 8. 

JC trying to get that Max!  He had the most energy out there. 

Glad to see Bogi and Gallinari have good games.  They weren't lights out, but they were exactly what we needed when we didn't have Trae completely on his offensive game. 

Clint - Still looks a little slow. I hope this heel injury doesn't linger for him.  Didn't even realize he has 16 rebounds.

Solomon Hill played surprisingly well.  Every three he throws up, I'm like no no no...YES (when it goes in).

8 games on the trot. Not much for me to complain about.  I'm trying to get used to the slow pace, under Nate. Come playoff time, knowing how to run your offense will come in handy.

Bruno is done for the season, barring major foul trouble or a nagging injury to both Collins and Capela.   He barely got scrub time vs OKC in a blowout.

When the team was losing and getting killed defensively with Collins + Gallo playing, it was easy to call for Bruno, Okongwu and others to play.   Now that Nate has at least solved that issue, you won't see Bruno at all, and maybe only spot minutes for Okongwu and Knight.

The focus now should be to get Solo out of this rotation, and somehow have Knight take his minutes at the 4.
