I like our core but if I’m ordering off this menu I’ll take:

1. Kawhi (staying in LA)

2. Ibaka

3. Duncan Robinson (never have too many shooters)

4. Richaun Holmes

5. Norman Powell (saw him at UCLA love this guy).

6. Talen Horten Tucker

7. Josh Hart

8. Will Barton

9. Doug McDermott (see Duncan Rob)

10. TJ McConnell (Gritty hard nose)

11. Gorgiu Dieng

12. Baze/Molly Mike/ Muscala (bring them back for a ring 💍 😉)

13. Furkan Korkmaz (see Duncan and Doug above)

14. Reggie Bullock (hard nose 3 and D)

Other than that, I love our core.

Openings

- Going to have at least one, maybe two (ie, if Dunn declines the option), or maybe three (ie, Schlenk's kept four this season, which makes one wonder if that's a permanent philosophical tenet) slots on the depth chart open behind the starter at PG.

- Going to have two wing slots open behind Cam, Hunter, Huerter and BogBog.

- Have no openings in the front court for now, but a lot depends on whether that 4th PG preference is, indeed, permanent. (Schlenk's been satisfied to have two PFs plus three Cs, and shift a SF to play PF on occasion. His remarks last off-season seemingly admiring how finalist MIA constructed their roster gives some support to the idea that he's fully on-board with that.)

Acquisitions

- My preference, fwiw, would be to trade our draft pick for an affordable vet back-up PG or big--we've amassed enough young-uns that we can stand to take a year off from adding more youth.

- Then, top of the shopping list in free agency would be whichever wasn't gained in the draft night trade.

- After that, see who from the current roster you might be able to afford to keep for the sake of continuity.

- Finally, fill-in the leftover depth chart slots with low-cost deals, with an emphasis on defensive specialists.

These are the guarantees plus PO:
PG: Young,
SG: Bogdan, Huerter, Dunn (PO)
SF: Hunter, Reddish
PF: Collins (RFA), Gallinari
C Capela, Okongwu, Bruno

So that's 11 players, leaving us 4 spots to fill, one of which goes to our 1st round pick leaving 3 slots available in FAcy, but if Dunn declines his PO we have 4 slots.

Goodwin, Lou, Snell and Hill - all UFAs - which of this bunch maybe brought back?

When you look at who we have returning, that's why this year is basically gravy, no matter what happens.

We have all of our key guys returning, with our young guys gaining more experience, and room to possibly add a decent free agent or two.

Year 1 is the warm up.

Year 2 will be the championship push.

Just decided this afternoon...

I really like the idea of pursuing Patty Mills in free agency to fill that primary backup PG slot.

I really like the idea of wrestling Kyle Anderson away from MEM in a draft night trade... just think he's the kind of glue guy with some defensive skins on the wall who would fit perfectly.

If Snell could be had for cheap, I'd resign him.

Changed my mind. I wanna punch 🤛 him in the face now instead of acquiring him 😂 he’s annoying as hell. If I’m Molly Mike I don’t accept trash talking from him. He too little fa dat. At the :50 mark, hell naw.

Still keeping tabs on this Eurostash, me.

He's two years in to his 4 year contract, but would like to think that this off-season or next, there's an opt-out. There was with his previous contract, so that would seem to give some reason for optimism. Granted, I don't know that he can do much more than shoot, but he can do that at an elite level. IIRC, he's never shot less than 40% from the arc.

$5 Million or less

Yeah, I don't see him taking that.

If he continues shooting the 3 like he has, another playoff team in need of 3pt shooting may come knocking with at least an MLE $9 mil offer.

If it's at that range, then that would be a little to expensive for me.

NBA evolves, at the risk of stating the obvious.

That said, imagining an existence where all the rest of the league were to have... in my best Geddy Lee... time stand still... and our guys continued to develop, I'm truly not sure who I'd pursue in terms of a somewhat-realistic major trade. No one who conceivably could be available for a conventionally-reasonable price is all that attractive to me. Maybe that will change. Probably.

But for now, I feel pretty sure many if not most of us just can't wait to see what DAH and Cam contribute once they are healthy for an entire season (*knocks on wood*). 2015-16 is still fresh enough in the memory... and I don't even mean the Hawks 2015-16 so much as I mean the Warriors 2015-16... all of the homegrown talent with a couple of pieces added through trade that ended up essentially dominating the league for a few seasons, and at that, even still in King James' prime.

Much too much to pretend like we should expect that, but at the same time, much too much plausible chance to dismiss it and start tinkering with the pieces we have. Again, this time next year, the picture could be very different, but this is where we're at right now.

Yes, we're going to need a viable backup PG who can score--I think that's a lesson we've learned for certain since LouWill arrived, that it just makes such a difference when Trae can be given some bench time and the scoring threat from the PG position remains tangible. As said above, if the price is right, I want Patty.

Yes, having that backup SF who can legitimately play small ball PF, while bringing some defensive tenacity is pretty important, too... a poor-man's Draymond or Boris Diaw. As said above, my target there is Slo Mo.

And yes, we need Capela's backup to be an adequate force, as well. My hope is King Okong will continue to develop to be that guy... and/or Bruno.
