Someone actually suggested this? Like Reddish is good enough you want to trade for him, but so worthless he's thrown in a salary dump. Amazing.

I saw the title to this thread yesterday and didn't click on it.. Today this trade scenario popped up in my feed. AS SOON AS I READ THE PLAYERS INVOLVED, I was 100 percent sure THIS thread was about that proposal.

Realgm has a lot of very animated casual fans who toss out things that don't make any sense, violate the cap, etc.  A very large % of the posters there don't understand any team but their own (if that).  That casual, uninformed nature of their fan base combines with a trend towards younger posters.  Younger posters are not a problem in themselves as a poster of any age can get informed and into the details.  But the combination of posters who haven't done the homework and don't know what they are talking about and who don't have the years of watching the league (even casually) and so lack any type of perspective makes for some epically bad takes.  Frequently those are both terrible takes and emotional posters breeding some toxicity.  I haven't spent much time over there over the past couple years but can pretty much guarantee you'll see threads talking about why the All-Time greats wouldn't be special today because today's players are so much more athletic, etc.  (That recurring topic always bugged me; as if DeAndre Jordan at his peak could sniff Wilt's jock strap in terms of athleticism.)

Seems from some of the posts around here that the problems with a large part of the user base have worsened and bled into the moderators at the site as well.  There were a lot of good mods when I was part of that group and the global mods helped to keep some level of consistency in enforcement, etc.  If a mod started issuing their own wild west brand of moderation, they got checked - including protecting posters visiting other the team boards.  Discipline for a comment like "Yucks" and the ban of GM (among other comments on here) signal that the global mods don't have the bandwidth to provide the same level of control and you've got too many moderators going rogue in a bad way. 

Sad to see but makes what we have here on the Squawk stand out even more by comparison.

I see the other fans still see us as a talent vending machine and not as a playoff contender. lol I'd rather have McCollum over Beal... Beal's wife is more of headache than these "trade ideas" from idgit bloggers.

I don't honestly want either one. Neither one plays defense. As much as our random trolls love to attack Bogi he's a better defender than both of those guys. The only reason Bogi struggled on defense in the playoffs was from him playing on literally one leg.

There's nothing short of a bonafide superstar that would make me be willing to trade Hunter. He took a gigantic leap forward in his second season. He was legit our second best player when he was healthy.

And people will read that and say, "Ah, Hawks fans just overvalue their young guy like all teams' fans do."

It's not that.  It's the fact that Beal is not a winning player.  As his individual numbers increased, his teams wins decreased.  The fact that he's a worse defensive player than Trae is inexcusable and I have NO IDEA why NBA media and fans let him off the hook for this.

It's completely maddening that he continues to get awarded accolades in spite of this.  Meanwhile our guy can't sniff any awards with that dumbarse specter of 'defense' hanging over his head.

Beal is what 6'7"?  Athletic?  Great NBA body?  And he still can't defend?  But no one cares when it comes to voting him onto all-star and all-NBA teams?

Somebody explain that to me.
