The thing is:

We aren't trading anyone in our core 

If we do, we aren't trading our entire core for a player like Beal

Stop asking us for Huerter or Reddish, stop offering us horrible deals. 

No, we are not open to trades that don't improve the squad so stop asking. 

Common sense is not common on that site. Its hilarious how Texas Chuck gets offended with Dallas trades but wants Atlanta to trade major pieces in our core for a penny on the dollar. You stupid ugly POS.

It's not that.  It's the fact that Beal is not a winning player.  As his individual numbers increased, his teams wins decreased.  The fact that he's a worse defensive player than Trae is inexcusable and I have NO IDEA why NBA media and fans let him off the hook for this.

It's completely maddening that he continues to get awarded accolades in spite of this.  Meanwhile our guy can't sniff any awards with that dumbarse specter of 'defense' hanging over his head.

Beal is what 6'7"?  Athletic?  Great NBA body?  And he still can't defend?  But no one cares when it comes to voting him onto all-star and all-NBA teams?

Nah, I thought we settled that a few months ago.  We're all on the Chuk wagon.  I can't stand Beal now ..... in case my above response doesn't make it clear.

Beal is fine, he's a top 10 offensive player, and a poor defensive player. Overall he's around top 20-25, so yea, he is probably overvalued but not by a bunch. Problem is this is his ceiling and it's downhill from here on out. Hunter on the hand is a decent offensive player and an elite defensive player, overall when healthy he was around a top 30 player before his injury. Thing is Hawks NEED defensive players more than they do offensive players, offense is never a problem, even without Trae the team didn't struggle putting the ball through the hoop. So Hunter fills a need much better than Beal does and to top it off his offensive potential is still an absolute unknown. Hunter has All-Star potential, All-defenseive NBA potential, and fills a need and will only get a lot better.

What's equally hilarious and maddening is how, when asked about any Hawks player not named Trae, the response is that the player sucks.

But when asked why the Hawks have surpassed the Mavs, the response is that Trae's roster is sooo much better.

Well, which is it?  Or does the supporting cast suck for Dallas when it's a convenient excuse?

You mean like that Knicks poster that said the only reason they lost to us in the playoffs was due to Mitchell Robinson? The same Robinson I had in two fantasy leagues that before he was hurt was not even the starter over Noel. I swear these ppl are just straight up nuts.

He wants us to believe a dude that was barely starting ... is gonna swing a 4-1 series?  Not only that but that the Knicks would "dominate" Atlanta if he'd played?

And to completely ignore that the Hawks had multiple rotation players injured or playing hurt.  Yikes.  And people call that the most knowledgeable fanbase and that the league is "better" when they're good?  Double yikes.

At some point probably - I think at possibly the trade deadline or at the end of next season would give us a good barometer of where we are. 

What we need is to sure up from what we have determined are our playoff weaknesses:

• Backup PG - another offseason saying this, we need long term stability here. Since Trae was drafted it has been a revolving door.
• Perimeter defense - hopefully a healthy Hunter and Reddish fixes that
• Rebounding

I would like to see what Nate's Full Offensive and Defensive philosophy looks like with this group, having an offseason and training camp to implement and work with the team.

 

He def doesn't need to change the offense. That is alot of what Indiana fans complained about. LP wasn't great but his offense was tops in generating open threes. The Hawks were still good at that in the playoffs, but missed a ton.

My personal vendetta was with The_Hater. He loves to have strong opinions, but got upset when I called him out. I don't get upset as I used to with the posters there as I believe most are casuals and young fans.

I don't think a full on change will happen, but tweaks are needed.  We've talked about Trae playing off ball a lot.  I would like to see some deliberate offensive schemes to make that happen.  Trae needs more simple catch and shoot opportunities designed within the offense.
