Or do we have to use all of it on one player? Yes you can use a portion of it, but as camp pointed out the BAE is also available.
nathan2331
I realize the days of bringing in Jason Collins to neutralize Dwight are over, but is there a center in free agency (or even the league) that could at least slow him down if we matched up against the Sixers again? I know it can't/won't happen, but I'd love to see us bring Edy back from Real Madrid. He should've gotten more opportunities when he was drafted by us. But then we're stuck watching his ugly a$$ hook shot until Okongwu is healthy lol. But Lopez would be a good 3rd string C.

Premium Member Popular Post sturt Posted July 31, 2021 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted July 31, 2021 To no one in particular... People are too damn concerned about matching up with the Bucks, when if we'd had Trae and Dre, awfully good chance that right now their fans are asking how they can better match up against us. McM is only going to play 10 guys (at most) in high leverage games. Can't say this enough--we've chosen a style of play. Be the best at that style of play. It's like saying, "I think we can be better against Team X if we go get a few bigger linemen and a fullback and adopt the triple option," when your offense is built on a Bill Walsh playbook otherwise. Think Jalen Johnson helps. He's not a C, of course, but he's got the frame to be a fairly significant lockdown combo forward defender. Dieng is pretty ideal, imo. Maybe 5-10 lbs heavier than optimal, but beyond that, he's impactful at both ends of the floor. Not among the best--of course not--but good enough and seemingly affordable. We'll see.

FL_BRYANT
Funny how we fall for the copycat narrative of small ball and three pointers. Only to get beat by size and midrange and scoring in the paint. If you give up 80 pts in the paint your going to lose.
Premium Member Sothron Posted July 31, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 31, 2021 Dieng is the ideal backup center for us. He is criminally underrated.

However, I'd say not having our wings was as big a factor in that loss as anything. Hurt rebounding and defense. A big body wouldn't have been able to single-handedly counter what we were facing. 1
Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted July 31, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 31, 2021 Here's a question, how much do you want to spend on a Center? Vet Min, BAE $3 mil, MLE $9 mil? Rank your centers by price.
Premium Member sturt Posted July 31, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 31, 2021 Answering the question.... spend the entire MLE if you have to, in order to get your guy on a one year contract... after all, it's Ressler's money. 2

Much more for Lopez I assume. 1 minute ago, JayBirdHawk said: nimbers

Premium Member sturt Posted July 31, 2021 Premium Member Report Share Posted July 31, 2021 To no one in particular... The final score of any game is representative of the total points... and so even if you get beat up outside the arc.... beat up inside the post.... regardless, it's the entirety of the scoring, for you and against you, that matters. Not that everyone doesn't know that. But it sounds like that point somehow gets lost sometimes in order to support a preferred conclusion.
