That leaves only one spot available for E10 deals

We can have 20 players for training camp. We currently have 17 + Mays, so 18 spots. That leaves 2 training camp spots available. Teams can sign up to 6 Exhibit 10 contract.

When looking at the roster ahead of training camp, it’s wild to think both Johnson and Cooper might not see much playing time this season if everyone can stay mostly healthy (which is a big ask). That’s how deep this Hawks roster is. General manager Travis Schlenk has clearly prioritized having as much depth as possible to account for the wear and tear of an NBA season, which was the case for the Hawks this past year when nearly every important player missed at least 10 games due to various injuries.

Atlanta’s roster for the upcoming season is mostly set, though the Hawks do have their 15th roster spot unfilled and a two-way spot open. The Hawks have extended a qualifying offer to Skylar Mays, who could return to the team and fill the second two-way spot next to Cooper. Mays played well in Las Vegas and is deserving of an actual roster spot, so it’s likely he will wait as long as possible to see if he can get a guaranteed contract before deciding on the two-way offer.

The starting unit of Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, Collins and Clint Capela is the lineup we saw in the Knicks series when those five were completely healthy, and it’s what we should see on opening night. Those are the five best players on the Hawks, and I can’t see anyone else on the roster beating any of them out for their spots in training camp.

The wild card here is Hunter, of course, because he is still rehabbing from his second meniscus surgery this year. Schlenk said Hunter is expected to be cleared and ready to go by the start of camp. Count me in the cautious group when it comes to Hunter because there’s no way to not be at least a bit concerned that he had two surgeries done on his knee. If Hunter can return and look like the player we saw at the beginning of last season, this five-man group is deadly.

What I like about this five is that they all fit seamlessly. There isn’t one player who’s like a puzzle piece you’re trying to jam in because you’re convinced it’s in the right spot. That’s not the case here. They have one of the best point guards in Young, excellent secondary creators in Bogdanovic and Hunter, a modern stretch four who happens to be one of the best rim runners in Collins and a good roller in Capela. The other side of the floor still needs work, but a lot of the issues we saw from them could improve dramatically if Hunter can stay healthy and Collins continues improving in perimeter defense. Young is what he is defensively, but a little more friskiness could go a long way.

Great starting lineup and then bringing Wright or Lou/Heurter/Cam/Gallo/Dieng off the bench?   that's solid.

Id like to see a combo of Collins/Dieng at some point during games...Trae pick and roll with Collins, Pick and pop with Dieng).Like when Dedmon was here..Gallo as a 4 fits better with Capela imo...We have a lot of options if everyone can stay healthy.....
