The Atlanta Hawks have reportedly signed free agent wing Timothe Luwawu-Cabarrot to a one-year, non-guaranteed deal per The Athletic. Luwawu-Cabarrot, who is heading into his sixth NBA season, spent the last two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets.

Luwawu-Cabarrot is a 6’7 ‘3-and-D’ wing who should fall in behind the likes of Bogdan Bogdanovic, Kevin Huerter, De’Andre Hunter and Cam Reddish on the perimeter. The deal is non-guaranteed, however, so the Hawks can let him go at any time without consequence. Luwawu-Cabarrot is a career 33% three-point shooter, and shot 31.4% from deep on career-high volume last season with the Nets.

The veteran wing has been a role player on good teams before obviously as he comes over from Brooklyn, so it seems like a natural fit. If the Hawks are completely healthy, they likely won’t need his services most of the time, but he’s another 6’7 quality body that head coach Nate McMillan will have at his dispense.

Luwawu-Cabarrot is a solid defender, and in a pinch he’s a more than fine option off the bench. He actually started seven games for the Nets last season due to all of their injuries. The Hawks continue to round out their roster as we ease towards training camp, which is set to open late this month.

Stay tuned.
