Jahlil Okafor to Hawks

If he's only 25 years old then there is real hope that he can become more than a warm body for pre season workouts.  This signing points out, to me, it pays to go far in the playoffs.  Borderline players are easier to sign, I believe.  

If he works out, great!  If not, what do we lose?  And, we all know that he wants to stay in the NBA.  This means that he is probably going to work really, really hard.  Seems to be a win!

Ok, I'm being overly-critical but all this is is a flyer, which I'm perfectly fine with.

On a related note, how craptastic has the 'process' been?  All that losin' and reverse-culture building.  All for what?

Now that I’m thinking of it, he has a better chance of making the team than TLC mainly because we’d need a 3rd Center while ‘Gwu is out.

When you're as deep as we are even the training camp bodies have to be nba ready and capable of making a squad.

Doesn't mean they will make ours unless they prove themselves to be key assets that fit our team and system.

Like Solo proved to do last year.

No risk, and a little potential reward if he's motivated, so really nothing to gripe about with this move. Non guaranteed so we don't lose any of the flexibility by doing this.

No. Okafor is a good player. He's just a hard fit in today's NBA if you plan on using him often. He's a 3rd string center who can score, draw good defensive coverage, set excellent screens, and he plays hard. His defense is poor and could improve as a rebounder but he's excellent at boxing out bigs and smaller players. 

Parker is also a good player who is best as 10th man scorer but like Okafor is a tough fit in the modern NBA. But are good players but both have clear weaknesses.

The comparison is pretty close in my book... I was just getting ready to post the same. Though, I would say that what Okafor gives up to Parker in athleticism, he gets in inches of height.

I like this guy. He got caught in the Philly development process and was the odd man out. After that, the league started shooting 3s like crazy and didn’t value bigs. He has a complete set of skills and can play. I hope he earns that 15th spot.

Play #2 was a baseline jumper in garbage time, down by 30.

I bet Dan Dickau has a better top 10 than that.

I saw a post from supes before the 18 draft on realgm this morning. He said if Trae comes out after his freshman year he won’t make it in the league. 

It made me sad. Kind of like finding out Santa doesn’t exist (sorry @marco102its true).. I guess we are all allowed our hiccups. I had Marvin out to be the next James Worthy…I’m sorry James.

Thanks. I remember like 7 or 8 years ago seeing this sports focus Bay Area program where they cover all the high school area athletes and it had a piece on him with his pops workin with him about 20 min south of my house and I assumed he was a bay kid.
