Kevin Durant noted playing a higher pace is a factor. Yeah and, to answer @Spud2nique question ... first lemme put on my thick, nerdy glasses since I stayed at a Holiday Inn Express last night ... Ready. So I've read and heard that nowadays, since more and more kids "specialize" in a sport at an early age, it basically overuses the same muscles/body parts. There's an argument this makes them more susceptible to injury. Some think this explains why you see more and more youngs getting nagging/recurring injuries and whatnot. kg02 and 03 play soccer basically year-round but we, among other things, make them play something different in the winter to try to avoid this. Now, despite the fact that I have my thick glasses on and I'm clearly wildly intellectual as a result, this is not anything new. I'm just presenting it as if it's my idea because I wanna look/sound smart. On the NBA level, also add the layer of expanding medical staffs needing to justify their existence by poking around and making sure everybody knows they wear thick glasses and think so-and-so should sit out for rest because the nimbers say it's a good thing. I'm proud of myself. This post is about 78% serious. Edited November 1, 2021 by kg01 3

This morning they had a guy on NBARadio. Some BSPN guy so take it with a huge grain of salt. Said he saw Zion paraded out pregame to go through drills. Said it felt staged because he really wasn't doing anything that looked like a workout. On how he looked, he said he didn't want to be accused of being mean so he'd just say that Zion "didn't look to be in anything resembling NBA shape". Pretty sure he stole my line in saying he was a shape (round), but not NBA shape. Questioned if Zion really wants to play/work. Again, BSPN guy. I only repeat it because it matches what I've read/heard from others. Well everyone except the PeliCan'ts media guys. 2 minutes ago, macdaddy said: They don't want to pass the ball! Also cute is how the guy Scalabrine, when asked about Tatum last week, said he needs to become a better passer. Now today, when presented with Smart's quote, suggested Smart is off-base. Uh, it's exactly what you said last week, Scal. Haha, gotta love green tears. Celtic forums are going crazy, btw. 1 1

Considering Joel's claim to fame is being able to find great restaurants in every NBA city, it's probably his fault Zion's in the state he's in. Kevin Durant noted playing a higher pace is a factor. It's not pace, it's style of game. Back in the 80s, the defense didn't really have to cover much ground. That's why you had mammoths playing at the 5. If you just covered your space, you was fine. Nowadays, you gotta guard space, movement is more important than ever, you put a lot of miles on your body in terms of movement. It's a lot more difficult than 80s ball or 90s ball. Going up and down is not hard for a professional. It's a lot of movements in a condense area that's difficult. Premium Member JayBirdHawk Posted November 2, 2021 Author Premium Member Report Share Posted November 2, 2021 Monty McCutchen, the NBA’s vice president of referee development and training, said Tuesday afternoon that he’s pleased with the league’s progress toward eliminating foul calls on non-basketball moves. But he added that his officials are still working to strike the right balance between not calling those non-basketball moves and missing some defensive fouls, and that the league is still committed to offensive players not being held and grabbed — what the league refers to as “freedom of movement.” – via Tim Bontemps @ ESPN
