It's very early but, here comes the 1st rankings:

19. Atlanta Hawks
2021-22 record: 43-39
Result: Lost in Round 1
2023 title odds: +6000

Atlanta handed out $300 million in new contracts last summer after making the Eastern Conference finals, but there's a looming decision to make about whether or not to pay the luxury tax after a disappointing end to the 2021-22 season. The easiest way to do so is by waiving Danilo Gallinari, who is set to be paid $21.5 million in 2022-23, since only $5 million is guaranteed. They could get under the tax easily if they do so by June 29. -- Lopez

Coach Jent on the move?

Brad Turner: Sources: Chris Jent/Rasheed Wallace both are candidates to be assistant coaches on Lakers coach Darvin Ham’s staff. Jent is an assistant with Atlanta and was an assistant with Cleveland when LeBron James was there. Wallace and Ham were teammates on Detroit’s 2004 NBA title team.

Lakers shouldn't be ahead of the Hawks

Does anyone here know whom among our assistant coaches is outstanding, who is not outstanding, and who we might want to bring on board to help with specific deficiencies?

19. Atlanta Hawks: Falling to the play-in after reaching the East finals a year ago was a disappointing, if somewhat expected, regression. They are committed to building around point guard Trae Young and have shown they will be aggressive to do it.

B/R

The Atlanta Hawks were one of this season's more disappointing teams. After making a surprise run to the Eastern Conference Finals last year, they fell five wins short of their preseason over-under and got crushed in the first round of the playoffs by the Miami Heat.

That may not warrant a drastic response, though. Trae Young, John Collins, De'Andre Hunter and Kevin Huerter are all 24 or younger. Organic growth remains a real possibility.

Pushing in chips for someone like Rudy Gobert would make sense, too. Despite never playing with a solid lob passer, Gobert has averaged 15.2 points while shooting 68.5 percent from the field over the last four seasons. He and Young, one of the best alley-oop creators in the league, would be a nasty pick-and-roll tandem.

19. Atlanta Hawks

2021-22 record: 43-39

How season ended: 4-1 loss to Heat in Eastern Conference 1st Round

Why they're here: Following a trip to the Eastern Conference Finals in 2021, the Hawks had to earn their way into the playoffs via the Play-In Tournament and were gentlemen's swept in the first round by the Heat. That's a discouraging step back. Like the Jazz, all of the signs point towards the Hawks being featured prominently in this offseason's rumor mill.

You can't use big words like this around here!  You'll just confuse people and make them more determined to prove that players are who they are at 22-23.

Any chance Nate had another son he could add to the squad now? 🤦‍♂️

His son may be a good coach. And I could just be petty about it. Or just annoyed we lost a good coach. But I don’t like the combo of a father/sons coaching together in general. So maybe some more coaching turnovers will come.
