Premium Member Popular Post Diesel Posted June 27, 2022 Premium Member Popular Post Report Share Posted June 27, 2022 One thing that echoed throughout the press conference was "TOUGHNESS". Schlenk and Co. wants a team that's tough... They feel that both AJ and Martin are tough players. One of the things that kept coming to my mind though... was... So when does Schlenk hire Adrian Griffin to be our Top Assistant... Quote "I think Adrian is right there on the cusp of becoming a head coach in this league," Raptors president and vice-chairman Masai Ujiri said during his season-ending media availability Tuesday. "Nick has done a great job developing these guys and we encourage it as much as we can." Griffin was considered for the Jazz and the Lakers job this past offseason. I'm sure it would be a dream come true for him to coach his son at the pro level. The other thing is I really do like a lot of what I heard from Martin in the conference. He's confident and eager. He made the statement that he is not coming to be a scorer but his main thing is defense and getting rebounds and the scoring will come. That's a very mature sentiment. I like both of these guys and can see both of them being with us for years to come. They said that Trae reached out with a call and that they had dinner with some of the other players last night. That's a great thing! Martin is especially looking forward to SL games and said that he wants to play well in SL and then start practicing with the guys!

Premium Member shakes Posted June 28, 2022 Premium Member Report Share Posted June 28, 2022 Stevie Wonder could tell you this team needed to add toughness more than anything else. Doing that with 2 rookies is not the answer. It could help, but they're going to need VETERAN toughness to turn this team of soft a** b*****es around.

Ideally, if you do that it isn't a situation where you are bringing in a relative of the player to make the player happy which is how you end up with underqualified people on college coaching staffs, etc. Instead, you hope it is the opposite where he wouldn't normally consider the Hawks but would be eager to come now for the chance to be with his son. Yeah. I don't know how the relationship will work being that it's never been done before.. But Griffin Sr.. (Even if he didn't have Griffin Jr.) is a worthy candidate. His resume' is good. He has put in about 10 yrs of coaching from the assistant side. I just wonder if he has offensive genius because that's what we need. IF he was top assistant in Toronto for the last 4 years, he also has championship experience. That's something that Nate doesn't have.

JC too. Clint too. I would like to see us get one player who is not a nice guy. One guy who's presence suggest You don't want Drama (8 Ball MJG)... Gray Mule
Big question now: With the mega trade finished, will these new Hawks get any playing time? Remember, these two promise great offense and great defense!
