naw, on RGM I go full homer cause it's needed there.    But, not a fan of homer in general unless its Simpson.   And this place is a bit of an echo chamber in that regard.  This place needs the other version of me, the one who is very pessimistic, an anti-Homer if you will.   

I may not be the homer you wanted Spud, but I just might be the anti-hero you need.

It's one thing to question whether this team is a contender after a bad year last year but i don't see questioning whether Trae is at least top 3 PG and top 3 passer.  I'd put him first.  Jokic may be the best passer but none of those other guys are close to Trae.

everything Trae accomplished last year was wiped out by his playoff performance in the eyes of pretty much everyone except us.

Is Jokic the best passer?

I think we're confusing best passer with a guy who passes very well for his position/size.  I take nothing away from Jokic being a good passer but he doesn't do it as well or as frequently as Trae, CP3, Kyrie and Harden.  Actually, Steph doesn't do it that much either.   Steph is an OG right now because Draymond runs the offense.   

What are we watching?

Other than the best passer category, how was Trae dismissed entirely?    He is one of 4 point guards to receive a vote for best PG.   Is there any other category he is in the running for and didn't get a vote?

 

The rest of the team was dismissed entirely, but the rest of the team doesn't deserve the same level of respect as Trae is owed.  Unlike Trae, the rest of the team was basically pure garbage for the entirety of last season.

The only category that I consider ridiculous is the one where DJM didn't get a sniff for best off season acquisition.

The guy who was statistically the best passer of all players in the league over the past 3 years (replete with highlights) gets not a single vote for passing and sees pedestrian passers like Steph Curry get votes over him and you wonder how he was dismissed?  

Curry was 20th in the league; Trae was 1st (and was more than 50% higher than Curry).  That is like voting for Domantas Sabonis as the league's best scorer over Joel Embiid (Embiid scored 60% more; Trae's assist rate was 54% higher, his per game assists were 43% higher, and his total assists were 82% higher).  Blatant disrespect.  (This isn't even a situation where the voters gave the vet the benefit of the doubt like with Chris Paul despite Trae's better numbers and better turnover rates because Curry hasn't averaged even 7 assists in the last 7 seasons).  This becomes even funnier when you consider they voted Curry the best guy moving off the ball where, you know, you can't set up others with your passing because you don't have the ball.

Trae could be a debate for who is the best point guard because different people want different things from a point - even though this is coming off a season where he led the league in both scoring and assists.  But best passer?  He should have been at the top of that list and at least one of the 5 people who received votes for it.
