Our rotation primarily lost two high-caliber shooters that had helped contribute to our offense being #2 of 30 last season. Didn't expect us to keep that #2 slot, but sure didn't expect a free fall to what b-ref says is #23 today. - AJ's TS% is .580, which is a slight improvement (+.010) over who he's replaced, KVon (.570). - JJ's TS% is .558, which is a decided deficit (-.021) against who he's replaced, Gallo (.579). - But the most substantial decrease in TS%, just looking at the replacements and comparing last season to this... has been that the 2nd PG this season, DJ has posted a .525 so far, which is a significant deficit (-.051) versus the 2nd PG last season, Delon (.576). But we shoulda coulda anticipated that anyhow... compared to last season, he's only off -.008, and compared to his career average, he's ahead +.008. Then taking inventory among the holdovers who were and are primary offensive assets... - Trae's year to year checks in at -.039, and compared to his career average, he's down -.016. - Dre's year to year counterbalances Trae's somewhat... year to year improvement is +.016, and he's at +.014 above his career average. - JC's year to year is equally damning to Trae's. No other way to say it... down -.039 year-to-year, and a whopping -.055 against career average. Bottom line prognosis for 2022-23.... Should we expect AJ to continue to shoot at his current clip? Seems reasonable. Should we expect JJ to continue to shoot at his current clip? Seems reasonable, but also won't be surprised to see him assert himself more and more, and improve on that. Should we expect JR to continue to shoot at his current clip? Hate to say it, but absolutely, that's a reasonable expectation. Should we expect Dre to continue to shoot as his current clip? Happy to say it, seems reasonable, because the reality is we've always had reason to believe he could shoot well... and maybe even still can improve a bit. These, then, are the key elements... Should we expect Trae to continue to shoot at his current clip? No. We should see some significant improvement there. Should we expect JC to continue to shoot at his current clip? Sadly, quite possibly... seems reasonable, under the circumstances with his finger. And that last item perhaps is the biggest reason to suspect there's at least as strong a willingness as ever to listen to trade offers for JC.
Spud2nique
Ain’t got nothing to do with any of that. It’s Big O! And no, not this crinkly mafcker. ONYEKA OKONGWU… what’s that.. OKONGWU.. I went over to fb, Reddit as well as some other sites to spread the Big O nickname. I might rent a plane and release flyers that read.. THE BIG O EFFECT AND TURNAROUND.

Trae's turnaround has already started since Dec 15th. I have an easy fix for the JC finger issue - limit his 3 pt attempts, get him more 2s (61%) and closer to the basket which in turn gives him more possible trips to the freethrow line (80%). Since the calender flipped to 2023, JJ is 6-9 from 3, yes it's a very small sample size but it's something. Solution: play these rotations more JC/OO and JJ and CC

I'm not getting back on the positivity train. I believe in the talent we have - I am sure that we have the core of a very serious team. I do not believe in the people who manage or coach that talent. It's a nice couple of games, but I'm certain that we will have an equally unimpressive stretch coming up. Look at our 1A/1B and the support they're getting (particularly Griff): We have the guys. We don't have the system that can do this every night...nor do we have the front office that can figure this out. Until I see something change, I'm done.

Our outlook from a objective standpoint had us right about where we are. If the ball bounced our way with respect to injuries, personalities and fit etc., we could be the 4th seed, if they didn’t (which hey have not so far) we would be in play in territory. With half the season remaining, if the ball bounces our way, we will right back in it. If we make it to the playoffs healthy, it is a whole new season.
